House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff, D-Calif., blamed President Trump on Sunday for the clashes that have occurred between some of his supporters and protesters demonstrating against police brutality – saying the president is “willfully fanning the flames” of violence. Schiff’s comments come less than 24 hours after one person was shot and killed in Portland, Ore., amid a series of altercations between a large caravan of Trump supporters and Black Lives Matter protesters. “The president is willfully fanning the flames of this fire,” Schiff said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “They believe this is helpful to him.”' PORTLAND PROTESTERS STAGE SIT-IN AT MAYOR'S HOME -- AFTER HE AND TRUMP TRADE BARBS Schiff added: “The president is only motivated by one thing: what is in it for him. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has called for the ousting of three Kenosha, Wis. officials following the response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake and the killing of two protestors. The influential activist organization said in a statement on Thursday that it wants Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis, Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth, and Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian to all resign. “The ACLU strongly condemns Sheriff Beth and Police Chief Miskinis’ response to both the attempted murder of Jacob Blake and the protests demanding justice for him. Their actions uphold and defend white supremacy, while demonizing people who were murdered for exercising their first amendment rights and speaking out against police violence.” said Chris Ott, executive director of the ACLU's Wisconsin branch. “The only way to rectify these actions is for both Sheriff Beth and Police Chief Daniel Miskinis to immediately tender their resignations.” Miskinis, Beth and Antaramian led a press conference Wednesday afternoon that lacked new, definitive facts about the shooting of Blake and the protestors. But at one point, Miskinis suggested that the fatal shooting of the two protestors, and a third person...
CNN’s Don Lemon condemned the violence in Kenosha, Wisconsin following the police shooting of Jacob Blake during his post-convention show on Tuesday night — exclaiming that “the rioting has to stop.” Lemon faulted Democrats for simply waiting for the violence in Kenosha to stop and for failing to address it fast enough before the November election, which is only 68 days away. “So the problem is not going to be fixed by then, but what they can do, and I think maybe Joe Biden may be afraid to do it. I’m not sure. Maybe he won’t, maybe he is. He’s got to address it,” Lemon told Chris Cuomo. “He’s got to come out and talk about it. He’s got to do a speech lie Barack Obama did about race. He’s got to come out and tell people that he’s going to deal with the issue of police reform in this country and that’s what’s happening now is happening under Donald Trump’s watch.” Lemon guessed that Biden and his running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) are waiting to address the issue once they are elected, but...
