A federal appeals court has effectively greenlit the Trump administration's plan to deport up to 400,000 immigrants next year by ending the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) they have enjoyed for as long as two decades. What are the details? The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday that the Trump administration acted within its constitutional purview when it terminated the legal protections for immigrants from four countries — El Salvador, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Sudan — who fled natural disasters or conflict in their home countries, Politico reported. In the 2-1 decision in Ramos v. Wolf, the panel lifted an injunction on the plan that was put in place in 2018 by a San Francisco judge. A separate injunction filed by a New York judge preventing Haitians under TPS from being deported remains in place. "The [Department of Homeland Security] Secretary's discretion to make TPS determinations, while not without check, is undoubtedly broad and unique in nature," Judge Consuelo Callahan wrote in the majority opinion, joined by Judge Ryan Nelson. "The decision to designate any foreign country for TPS begins and ends...
The Oakland A’s played their first game at the new Globe Life Park in Arlington, Tex. Still feeling out how the unfamiliar grounds plays, the A’s lost 3-2 to the Texas Rangers Monday night. The A’s loaded the bases in the ninth inning with one out, but Rangers reliever Rafael Montero took advantage of a low strike zone to strikeout Matt Olson looking with three pitches at his shins. Matt Chapman flied out the other way to end it The Rangers had lost eight straight games before beating the A’s to begin this four-game series. Jesús Luzardo held the Texas Rangers to three runs in his fifth start of the year. He had a rocky start, all three runs came in the first two innings. After striking out Leody Taveras to kick off the first inning, he allowed back-to-back singles to Nick Solak and Danny Santana. Veteran Todd Frazier reached out and poked a two-strike changeup into center field to score the Rangers’ first two runs. Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s first home run of the season gave the Rangers their third run....
Chris Kongo extended his undefeated streak to 12-0 by shutting down his rival Luther Clay in their recent meet up for the WBO Global welterweight title. Kongo claimed the win via knockout in the ninth round, leaving a lot of fans surprised. While the contest was seemingly a close-call in the beginning, Kongo let his hands go from the fourth round. In the fifth, he landed some power jabs on Clay and advanced heavily on the judges’ scorecards. Yet he did not let the judges decide his fate. In the ninth round, he made his ultimate statement by knocking out Clay for the world title. Chris Kongo knocks out Luther Clay in fashion Clay had already absorbed considerable damage before going into the ninth. Kongo landed one slick left hook to secure the win. However, it was not just the left hook that awarded him the win. The undefeated Brit appeared sharp from the get-go. Using his long reach to its full potency, he successfully dominated Clay in the third round with lethal body hooks. Predictably, Clay fired back...

As well as City and Liverpool, Chelsea sit sixth (£727m) with the likes of Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell on the verge of joining, pushing that total higher. 4Premier League champions Liverpool boast the third-most valuable squad...
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden "hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth" with his speech to the virtual Democratic National Convention in Wilmington, Del., on Thursday evening, according to "The Daily Briefing" host Dana Perino. "He had pace, rhythm, energy, emotion, and delivery," the former White House press secretary remarked. "I think if he looks back, he could say that's probably the best speech of his life. "He just took the moment." However, Perino added, Biden's speech appeared to have been marred by "a little bit of incoherence" on policy. KURTZ: BIDEN PROMISES A HEALING PRESENCE IN SPEECH PRAISED BY LEFT AND RIGHT Video"In a three-sentence stanza, he said he was going to create millions of jobs through green investments by repealing the Trump tax cuts," she said. "If you tease that out, I'm not exactly sure how that works. "But this was a speech that was 80% appealing to the heart and 20% policy." Perino's former White House colleague Karl Rove largely concurred with her impressions, saying Biden had given a "very good" speech. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP "He had a...
Former Vice President Joe Biden earned glowing commentary from all three of the big cable news networks at the end of his speech for the 2020 Democratic National Convention. As CNN’s Jake Tapper broke down the contents of Biden’s address, he noted that he has covered the 2020 Democratic nominee’s speeches for a long time, but “I have to say this was one of the best if not the best performances I’ve ever seen.” He also said it was a “tactical mistake” for President Donald Trump’s campaign to set the bar so low for Biden since “giving a speech like this meant that he would naturally exceed expectations.” After Tapper remarked on the “wide” gap between Biden and Trump in terms of expressing empathy and decency, Dana Bash followed up by speaking of how Biden used his speech to characterize himself as the light to the president’s darkness. “It may have been the best speech Joe Biden ever delivered,” Wolf Blitzer chimed in. Gloria Borger agreed, saying “It wasn’t a convention speech written for applause lines. It was a...

The 32-year-old right-hander, who is in his first season with the Twins after being traded from the Dodgers, looked tired as he sat down the Brewers in the eighth. SAN FRANCISCO — The last-place San Francisco Giants dominated the first-place Oakland A’s for eight innings at Oracle Park on Friday, smacking three home runs and cruising to a five-run advantage thanks to a smooth outing from starter Johnny Cueto. Baseball games, of course, don’t end after eight innings. Another jaw-dropping defensive mistake from a Giants defense that has made dozens in the first three weeks of the season gave life to an Oakland rally before A’s right fielder Stephen Piscotty clubbed a game-tying grand slam in the top of the ninth against Giants closer Trevor Gott. With a new extra-inning rule in effect, the A’s took their first lead of the game without recording a 10th inning hit thanks to a Mark Canha sacrifice fly and held on to deliver the Giants a crushing 8-7 defeat after closer Liam Hendriks shut down San Francisco’s offense. With one on, one out and one already in thanks to Matt Olson’s solo home run into the left center field bullpen in the top of the ninth, Gott induced a grounder to first...
New York Yankees Recap: Judge wins it for the Yankees in the ninth By: William Parlee July 31, 2020 PrevPreviousNew York Yankees receive great news on Gleyber Torres injured elbow ShareTweet0 SharesIn the New York Yankees game last night with the Baltimore Orioles, all the predictors were way off.  It was a night filled with ups and downs and a ninety-four-minute rain delay as it poured at Orioles Park at Camden Yards. Those who predict game scores thought that they might be right on when the Yankees took a huge lead in the first inning.  Those predictions ranged from 6-1 to 9-2.  The final score was the Yankees 8 and the Baltimore Orioles 6. At the top of the 1st inning with a man on base, Oriole pitcher John Means hit Gleyber Torres in the elbow, causing Torres to crouch to the ground in pain. Medical staff checked him out, and he remained in the game until the fourth innings when he was taken for x-rays that turned out negative.  It...

The 2019-20 season was supposed to be one of growth and experimentation for the Brooklyn Nets with Kevin Durant sidelined the whole year, but no one expected this. No, we’re not just talking about the obvious coronavirus, which has turned the United States and its sports leagues upside down. Because even without the pandemic (or concerns over it) withholding Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, Taurean Prince and Wilson Chandler from participating, Brooklyn would still be down its two best players in KD and Kyrie Irving — not to mention rookie center Nicolas Claxton — due to the normal injury bug. With all seven(!!) of those players out for the NBA’s restart bubble in Orlando at the end of July, the Nets had plenty of open roster spots to fill with replacement players, and they’ve been busy over the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, they waived Theo Pinson to add...
