For decades, I’ve had coaches and athletes tell me that the truth is on the tape. I guess that applies to practice sucker punches, too. TMZ paid someone for the video of Draymond Green’s punch of Warriors teammate Jordan Poole in Wednesday’s Warriors practice. The video was published on Friday morning. The devil might be in the details, but the broad strokes of the incident are not in question. The video shows Green approaching Poole under the basket and going chest-to-chest with the 23-year-old guard. Poole pushed Green away. Green countered with a lunging punch to Poole’s jaw. As Poole went down, Green pinned him against the wall of the Warriors’ practice facility. It’s an ugly scene. What Green did was indefensible. The Warriors knew that Wednesday. The world knows now. The video is so illuminating that it’s fair to wonder if it changes things for Green and the Warriors. But I don’t think it does. The Warriors did not try to brush this incident under the rug. The organization acknowledged it happened, treated it with complete seriousness, and...
President Joe Biden used a Rose Garden speech on touting his work reducing healthcare costs to launch a political attack on Republicans, accusing them of plotting the abolition of Social Security if they take back Congress. The warning is designed to win over older voters, a key demographic in November's midterm elections. Biden held the event to advertise that Americans will pay less next year on monthly premiums for Medicare 's Part B plan, which covers routine doctors' visits and other outpatient care. But he quickly pivoted to contrast his administration's plans with those of his opponents.  He brandished a copy of Sen. Rick Scott's '11-point plan to rescue America' and said it effectively meant social security programs would be 'on the chopping block' every five years. Scott heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which puts him at the forefront of his party's campaign to retake the Senate. 'Okay, I won't read through all of it,' said Biden. 'But it says all federal legislation sunsets in five years. If it is worth keeping. Congress can pass it again.  'Translated: If you...

THE dust has just about settled from the Jubilee and what has become clear is that the Royal Family as we knew it will never be the same again. We celebrated the Queen’s 70 years of duty to her country and during the four-day celebrations it was obvious she was handing over the reins of public duty to the younger members of her family. 5The Royal Family mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee on the balcony of Buckingham PalaceCredit: Getty 5Hearing that Kate may have cajoled her kids with a bag of Haribo is refreshing for us all to hearCredit: Handout This will be a modern, scaled down, freshened up and much more down-to-earth ensemble. Just like Princess Diana, the People’s Princess, with her warm, friendly approach to all those she met, the goal is for The Firm to become the People’s Royal Family. And the one person who has given the green light to this amazing change is our 96-year-old monarch. Despite her age, she knows that for the Royal Family to continue to be a success — and...
AS a championship dancer, you’d assume Strictly judge Shirley Ballas was completely in tune with her body - but for pretty much all her life, that’s just not been the case. “For many, many years, my body was absolutely not in sync with itself,” says the 61-year-old who was born on the Wirral.  4Shirley Ballas has struggled with gut trouble almost all her lifeCredit: Laura Lewis/Symprove. 4Shirley (pictured with partner Daniel Taylor) is always trying to boost her health and wellbeing through diet, yoga and probioticsCredit: Getty “I didn't tend to go to the bathroom but once a week.” She had pain, bloating and constipation for decades. “Maybe it was a little easier while I was competing, because when you get nervous that seems to help the system a little bit,” she says, but it’s only in the last 18 months that she's finally gotten a handle on her gut health.  “I was always looking for something that could help me line up my system and make me feel better.” The Queen of Latin came across Symprove - a liquid...
Three paraplegics have been able to walk, swim and cycle for the first time in years after being fitted with a revolutionary spinal cord implant. The device, which works by stimulating the region of the spinal cord that activates the trunk and leg muscles, was so effective that the patients were all able to stand and walk just one day after it was activated, researchers said. It is controlled by artificial intelligence (AI) software which reactivates neurons via a pacemaker inserted into a person's abdomen.   Italian-born Michel Roccati, 29, had been confined to a wheelchair for over four years after losing the use of his legs in a motorbike crash, and was one of the three men to test the implant.  He said: 'The first few steps were incredible — a dream come true.' Masks could remain mandatory on flights for years and will be one of the last restrictions to be dropped worldwide, experts predicted last night. It will be ‘nigh-on impossible’ for individual airlines to allow passengers to travel without face coverings because of a mish-mash of international rules. ‘Until there is a harmonised lifting of mask mandates on flights by governments worldwide it is simpler for airlines to keep the rules in place,’ a senior aviation source told The Times.  Masks could remain mandatory on flights for years and will be one of the last restrictions to be dropped worldwide, experts predicted last night UK airlines are reported to be waiting to ‘act as one’ when easing measures and are seeking ‘international consistency’. Neil Sorahan, Ryanair’s chief financial officer, told the newspaper that masks would be ‘with us for a while longer to come’ and were a ‘small price to pay’. He compared them to emergency measures introduced in 2006 to restrict passengers taking liquids in hand luggage after police foiled a terror plot. RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next ...

On May 19, 2011, New York sports talk host Jared Max signed off of his local ESPN radio morning show by informing the audience he was gay. “Are we ready to have our sports information delivered by someone who’s gay?” Max asked listeners 10 years ago, before telling them, “I am gay.” Ten years later, Max is able to answer that same question with a resounding “yes.” “Before I came out, I think I was failing,” Max recently told Alex Reimer — who is also a gay sports radio host and journalist — on The Sports Kiki podcast. “All of a sudden, becoming a talk show host wasn’t working,” Max continued. “But once I was honest with the audience about who I am, I realized, ‘Okay, now I can talk and I can react at work.’” Now, Max is a sports reporter for Fox News Headlines 24/7 on SiriusXM, also contributing to Fox News and Fox Business. “I never wanted to be the gay sportscaster,” he told Reimer. “That scared the living daylights out of me.” Playing a big...

When best-selling children's author Dame Jacqueline Wilson hit her late 50s, she underwent nothing less than a total midlife reinvention. IT MAY be on a smaller scale but many of us will be looking forward to spending Christmas with their loved ones. Producer of The Missing Darrell Brown told Fabulous: “The issue of Missing Persons is, sadly, one that continues all year round. But for many families of the long-term missing, it’s occasions like Christmas which are the hardest to bear – those times when we would ordinarily be with our family, or speaking to them, sharing gifts and toasting the new year. "For the families of the missing there will always be that empty space at the dinner table. "And...
President Donald Trump on Friday called on the Supreme Court to use its power to award him a second term because the Joe Biden administration will be 'a scandal plagued mess.' Trump made the appeal – which stood outside even the dubious legal arguments being mustered by a Texas lawsuit seeking to overturn the election – after disclosures that Joe Biden's son, Hunter, is under federal investigation.  Trump wrote that the revelations now make it 'much easier' for the high court to declare him the winner of the November election.  President Trump is defending his 'perfect' call to Ukraine and demanding the Supreme Court overturn the election 'Now that the Biden Administration will be a scandal plagued mess for years to come, it is much easier for the Supreme Court of the United States to follow the Constitution and do what everybody knows has to be done. They must show great Courage & Wisdom. Save the USA!!!' Trump wrote.  In fact the court's nine justices will be charged with ruling on the case based on the the Constitution and...

This is what I call a Fashion Moment. A change almost as liberating in its way as burning your bra or the #MeToo movement. Women the world over have burst free (literally) from the terror of DVT-inducing toothpick jeans (the toothpick being the evolution of the skinny and way, way narrower). Instead, they have embraced a garment I last pulled on back in 1973 while lying on the floor using a coat hanger to do up the fly: a pair of flares! Even the Duchess of Cambridge has worn them — a flared trouser suit for her recent Pride of Britain appearance to give an award to NHS hospital workers — while domestic goddess Nigella Lawson sports voluminous red flares in a shoot for December’s Good Housekeeping magazine. And, of course, where the rich and famous go, the rest of us inevitably follow. But this is a celebrity trend to be welcomed. To those of us inured to the skinny jean, the flare gives a refreshingly loose, fluid silhouette. Kate Middleton (left) can really carry off a relaxed...
The New York Giants have found a staple on their defense for years to come By: Carson Depp October 29, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditIn a season unlike any other, the New York Giants have again been able to show consistency from seasons prior. After losing on a last-second field goal to their division rival Cowboys, New York has found themselves at 0-5 for the second time in four seasons. The team held the 2nd overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Fast forward to the present day, the Giants have secured their first win of the season and lost a heart-breaking game to the Eagles. Before the season began there were multiple teams predicted to be tanking for the top pick—all in an effort to secure the fantastic quarterback prospect in Trevor Lawrence. Amazingly enough, not many predicted the Giants to be in the race for Lawrence, but here we are. Despite having won judge a single game, it’s not nearly as disappointing as prior years. Under new head coach Joe Judge, the...

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The moon is over 238,000 miles away, but when Ali Guarneros Luna was seven years old it seemed even farther."My mother used to buy books and encyclopedias," said Guarneros Luna. Watch out, John. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas is suddenly in a tough reelection bid after worshipping at Trump's altar for four straight years. It's women. It's older voters. It's suburban dwellers. It's independents. It's basically any voter who isn't a bona fide Trump cultist. En masse, nearly all those voting blocs seem to be turning their backs on the madman thrashing about in the Oval Office, based on recent national polling showing Joe Biden up by a nearly double-digit margin. The GOP's "Southern strategy" of winning the South back from Democrats by appealing to white resentment may have finally reached the law of diminishing returns—accelerated in large part by the ugliness of Donald Trump himself. Let’s send Sen. Mitch McConnell and his Senate Republicans packing. Give $2 right now to help get sweet revenge in November. As The New York Times reports, at the state level, the GOP's challenges are one part Trump and one part rapidly shifting demographics in major cities like Atlanta, Houston, and Phoenix, which have attracted an influx of younger voters, people of color, and highly educated voters...
New York Mets: David Peterson is now expected to be a fixture in the rotation for years to come By: Andres Chavez October 2, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Mets clearly had some issues with their starting rotation. Of the six men that were supposed to start the season, only one of them didn’t have any injury issues: Rick Porcello. The other five had to miss some time or were affected by different ailments to some degree. Jacob deGrom had to depart a start after two innings with a hamstring issue, Michael Wacha suffered shoulder inflammation, Noah Syndergaard didn’t even make a pitch because he underwent Tommy John surgery in the spring, Steven Matz also had some shoulder problems, and Marcus Stroman suffered a calf strain and later opted out of the season. Only deGrom and Matz are under contract for next season. Syndergaard is, as well, but won’t be an option for the New York Mets for the first couple of months, maybe even around the All-Star break of 2021, while...
Aside from a freak snowstorm on September 8, September turned out to be a great month for Denver restaurants, as the weather mostly cooperated to keep patios full and diners out at their favorite restaurants. And many newcomers decided to make the leap into the business, whether lured by vacant real estate or committed from months of planning and construction. Regardless of the reasons, last month's openings and closings looked more like the past few years during a booming economy than what we were expecting from a difficult year of stay-at-home orders and COVID-related restaurant restrictions. One notable loss was Acorn, which drew nearly instant acclaim when it was opened in 2013 at The Source by restaurateur Bryan Dayton and chef Steve Redzikowski. The closure of what had been a very successful eatery is evidence that high-end restaurants rely on operating at full capacity to cover the high costs of food, labor and real estate that come with equally high customer expectations. The Michelin Guide, one of the most thorough trackers of the world's best restaurants, shines a light on...
The death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg just 46 days before the presidential election has left the Supreme Court at a historic moment.  Ginsburg's replacement could decide the political leaning of the court for decades to come if Trump is successful in pushing through his third conservative Justice in one term.  The closely divided court had five justices with conservative bents and four liberals, before Ginsburg's death.  If Trump were to choose a conservative judge to replace the liberal Ginsburg, as expected, the court's conservatives would have more heft with a 6-3 majority.   The death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has left the Supreme Court at a historic moment that could see it with a conservative majority of 6 to 3 for many years to come The closely divided court had five justices with conservative bents and four liberals, before Ginsburg's death. The emergence in recent weeks of a coalition of neocon Republicans and former national security officials who have thrown their support behind the candidacy of Joe Biden is an ominous development to those who believe U.S. foreign policy should be guided by the principles of realism and military restraint, rather than perpetual wars of choice. In early June, a group of former officials from the George W. Bush administration launched a PAC in support of Joe Biden’s candidacy. The group, 43 Alumni for Biden, boasts nearly 300 former Bush officials and is seeking to mobilize disaffected Republicans nationwide. The mobilization appears to be having an impact: More recently, “more than 100 former staff of [recently deceased Senator John] McCain’s congressional offices and campaigns also endorsed Biden for president,” according to NBC News, as well as dozens of former staffers from Senator Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. That GOP support comes in addition to the more than 70 former U.S. national security officials, who teamed up and issued a statement urging Biden’s election in November. Citing what they believe is the grave damage Trump has done to U.S. national...

Hong Kong (CNN)A massive blaze aboard a billion-dollar US Navy warship has been extinguished after raging for four days -- but its effect might be felt across America's Pacific Fleet for years.Navy officials said the fire aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, an amphibious assault ship undergoing maintenance and upgrades at a port in San Diego, was put out last Thursday.
