Meghan Markle's latest podcast episode - in which she claims that 'strong-minded women' are labelled 'difficult' - may have been her way of addressing critics who have accused her of bullying, the Mail on Sunday's Assistant Editor has said. In her Archetypes podcast for Spotify, the Duchess of Sussex said that the 'B-word' is being used to 'gaslight' women who know what they want.  She claimed last week that 'strong-minded women' are branded 'difficult' because it is a codeword for 'b**ch' - and said that while 'not everyone is going to like you, the goal can be for them to respect you'. Kate Mansey suggested that the focus on dismissing labels made to negatively portray assertive women could be a way for the Duchess hitting out at detractors. 'The immediate thing I thought about that podcast was...all the criticism that she's had at The Palace and the accusations of bullying, which she's always denied,' she told Palace Confidential. 'Maybe this is almost kind of her talking about it...' Meghan Markle (pictured) last week claimed that 'strong-minded women' are branded...
A royal expert has suggested that The Crown's upcoming fifth series may be so controversial  that it could prompt the Palace to break its 'never complain, never explain' tradition.  Rebecca English - who has seen the transcripts for the next ten episodes of the Netflix hit's latest installment - slammed scenes as 'verging on defamatory'. The Daily Mail's Royal Editor admitted parts of the show feel 'pretty distasteful' and said that while she initially felt that the reaction around the next season was 'a bit of a storm in a teacup', she was 'shocked' by its contents.  Speaking on Palace Confidential, she hinted that the Palace will wait for the release on November 9 before considering 'fueling the flames'. For the upcoming fifth and the final sixth series, Elizabeth Debicki (pictured with Dominic West as Charles) is taking over the role of Princess Diana Rebecca English (pictured) - who has seen the transcripts for the next ten episodes of the Netflix hit's next installment - slammed them as 'verging on defamatory' 'I think they want to see it for themselves,' Rebecca told...
by Julie Kelly   To the surprise of no one paying attention, the Department of Justice recently acknowledged the use of several FBI informants in its investigation of the Oath Keepers, an alleged militia group tied to the events of January 6. Prosecutors last week asked for a protective order to conceal from jurors information about confidential human sources (CHS) expected to testify during the seditious conspiracy trial of five members of the Oath Keepers; jury selection is now underway. Not only does the government want to prevent defense attorneys from asking personal questions that could reveal the informants’ identities but prosecutors don’t want the sources to publicly disclose any involvement in past or pending criminal investigations or details of “the FBI’s CHS program and the training and methods used by the FBI as part of their undercover operations.” That request, of course, is to protect the bureau, not informants, in what appears to be just another corrupt, political, and unaccountable section of the FBI. For example, court filings in Special Counsel John Durham’s probe into Russiagate just revealed that Igor Danchenko, a subsource...
A royal expert has warned that King Charles III's decree that only working royals can wear military uniforms at the Queen's funeral next week could lead to more problems with his son Prince Harry in the future.  A panel of royal commentators and experts discussed Her Majesty's passing in the latest episode of Mail+'s popular royal talk show Palace Confidential, while also exploring the new Monarch's decision to give his brother, Prince Andrew, special permission to don military garb at his late mother's final vigil.  Some have praised the decision as 'decisive', but the Daily Mail's Diary Editor Richard Eden believes the new King is making a 'mistake'.  Andrew, 62, was forced to give up his HRH status and was stripped of all his honorary military titles earlier this year amid the fallout from his ties to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.  In recent years he has been plagued with accusations made by one of Epstein's 'sex slaves' alleging the royal had sexually abused her when she was a minor under American law. This culminated in a bombshell US lawsuit and a...
Netflix hit The Crown has won critical plaudits and huge ratings from depicting royal crises, but now the producers of the show face one of their own. For I can disclose that they are still desperately searching for a teenage actor to play Prince William in the eagerly anticipated final series, even though filming is due to start in just a few weeks' time. Casting director Robert Sterne has issued a last-ditch appeal on showbusiness websites, urging suitable candidates to come forward. 'The Crown is searching for an exceptional young actor to play Prince William in the next series,' the advert states. 'This is a significant role in this award-winning drama, and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance. Shooting will commence in early September.' In an effort to widen the field of potential candidates, the ad stresses: 'No previous professional acting experience is required. We are very experienced in providing a great deal of support for the young actors and their families through what they find a uniquely rewarding, creative process.' Netflix's The Crown are still desperately looking...
When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit official duties, the Queen ordered them to stop using the word 'royal'. So, after publicly whining about how neither the Queen nor the Government owned the word across the world, the California-based pair reluctantly changed the name of their charitable organisation from Sussex Royal to the MWX Foundation.  The new title covered their surnames, Markle and Windsor, with the X thought to be a short form for Sussex. Now, however, MWX Foundation, of which Prince Harry was director, has been closed down, with the final liquidation report revealing that costs of £130,583 were incurred on winding it up. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had to change the name of their charitable organisation from Sussex Royal to the MWX Foundation when they quit their Royal roles Documents published on Tuesday disclose that the charity received bills of £92,849 in liquidators' fees and £37,734 in legal fees. The expense to the charity amounted to £65,181. This is because liquidation costs were agreed at £27,447 with liquidators Smith Williamson. A note to liquidators reports: 'Time costs...
Stripped of his military titles and royal patronages, and even suffering the indignity of losing his honorary Freedom of the City of York this week, Prince Andrew has a lot to be unhappy about.  But his beloved ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York is determined to make it clear that her family are not feeling sorry for themselves. On a night out at Oswald's private members' club in Mayfair, Fergie, 62, pointedly chose to wear a pair of blue velvet loafers, handmade by Del Toro X Rotten Roach, imprinted with the words 'Never Complain, Never Explain' (circled below).  That's been the mantra of the Royal Family as long as the Queen has been on the throne, and she has abided by the rule throughout her seven-decade reign.  If only Andrew had stuck to it rather than give his disastrous interview to Newsnight's Emily Maitlis in 2019 ... Princess Beatrice is clearly a devoted stepmother. During a post-Christmas shopping trip, the Queen’s granddaughter was seen in a necklace with the initials ‘W’,’E’ and ‘S’. The ‘W’ stands for Wolfie, the nickname of her five-year-old stepson, Christopher, whose middle name is Woolf. The ‘S’ stands for Sienna, the name of the Princess’s three-month-old daughter. Princess Beatrice has proven how devoted she is as a stepmother and a mother with a charm necklace featuring the initials of her stepson and new daughter The necklace also features the initial of her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi who she married in lockdown The ‘E’ stands for Edo, the nickname of her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, whom Bea married in a 2020 lockdown wedding attended by the Queen.  Gentleman Jack star Suranne Jones, who’s previously admitted to suffering from ‘crippling anxiety’, has called for actors to be given experienced ‘mentors’ at the start of their careers. ‘What I do feel is missing from our industry is some kind of mentor system,’ says Jones, who also starred in BBC dramas Vigil and Doctor Foster. ‘I’m talking...
Viewers of Netflix hit The Crown are left in no doubt who was to blame for the collapse of Prince Charles and Diana's marriage: he's shown sneaking off to renew his love affair with Camilla Parker Bowles while the Princess is left crying at the Palace. Now, however, one of the couple's former royal protection officers has come forward to present a startlingly different version of events. Allan Peters claims Charles did not start seeing Camilla romantically again (they had first met in their early 20s) until after he discovered Diana had been having a fling with fellow protection officer Barry Mannakee. And Peters was the one who informed Charles of his wife's affair. Netflix's big-budget royal drama The Crown has been a money-spinner for the streaming giant, but are its increasingly controversial plotlines leading to casting problems? For I hear it was still advertising for an actor to play a teenage Prince William as late as last Friday, even though his scenes are due to be shot this month.  The role will be a highly contentious one, because it will involve William's reaction to the breakdown of his mother Princess Diana's marriage to Prince Charles. The attorney for election integrity watchdog True the Vote sent Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) a document preservation letter on Friday, “in light of the serious nature of the leak and the likelihood of litigation” after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Director D. Victor Reynolds released a letter he sent to Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer and True the Vote on September 30 to the media that, “contains information provided confidentially to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.” Further, election law attorney Jim Bopp wrote in Friday’s letter to Kemp that the September 30 letter released to the media by Director Reynolds, the political appointee who runs the GBI, “mischaracterizes and selectively omits the evidence that True the Vote provided in a confidential meeting attended by representatives of your office, and representatives of the GBI, including the author of the letter in question, GBI Director D. Former cardinal Theodore McCarrick. J. Scott Applewhite/Associated Press Ex-cardinal Theodore McCarrick has been criminally charged and accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy at a wedding in 1974, reports said Thursday. McCarrick was charged with three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, the Associated Press reported, citing court documents obtained by The Boston Globe. McCarrick, a 91-year-old former archbishop of Washington, DC, is the first US cardinal to be criminally charged with a sexual crime against a minor, the accuser's lawyer Mitchell Garabedian told the AP. It's not what was in the ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: Where Did it Go Wrong? that got royal watchers excited – it was what was left on the cutting room floor that proved to be the biggest talking point. A version of the documentary shown to the media featured a contributor claiming that Kensington Palace had planted stories in the press about Prince Harry's mental health.  This infuriated Prince William who instructed lawyers to challenge this, ITV acquiesced and the film that was shown to the public made no mention of it. White House officials have worked to hammer out an arrangement with Hunter Biden's attorney so that the president's son won't be told the identities of people making cash purchases of his paintings – but ethics experts are still condemning the idea of his forthcoming art show as fraught with risks.  The plan will allow Hunter Biden to forge ahead with his new career as a visual artist after a career change from a high-paid consultant on international deals, by shielding him from the identities of those who purchase his pricey works.  The idea is avoid a situation where he knew who was buying his work so he might be in the position to do them a favor – although it still provides an opportunity for unidentified individuals to shovel large sums to the president's son as he battles high living costs and legal fees.  'The whole thing is a really bad idea,' ethics expert Richard Painter told the Washington Post, which revealed new details of the arrangement.  The terms have been negotiated with Hunter's lawyer as art shows in New York and...
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have publicly attacked the monarchy and accused unnamed relations of racism, but the Queen has made it clear she holds no grudges against them. The inclusion of the Sussexes in The Tudors To Windsors: British Royal Portraits show at the Royal Museums Greenwich in London is particularly significant because it’s organised in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery, of which the Duchess of Cambridge is patron. The very first abstract paintings that Hunter Biden is preparing to sell will be priced as high as $500,000 each and all sales will be kept confidential, his ex-con art dealer says.  The scandal-plagued first son, who has no professional background as an artist, revealed last year that he was now a full-time painter and was planning his first solo exhibit in New York City this fall.  The 51-year-old's art dealer Georges Berges, who was jailed in California in the 90s for assault and making terroristic threats, told Artnet that he has priced Biden's artworks between $75,000 and $500,000. Berges also likened Biden to famed British painters Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon, whose artworks have fetched up to $142 million at auction.  The staggering prices are well above what some career painters make on a single artwork.    Renowned American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat sold his first artwork in 1984 for $20,900, which equates to roughly $54,000 today. Just a few years ago, Andy Warhol's 1983 Endangered Species sold for $725,000 - just $225,000 more than a Biden piece - at a New York auction.  ...
Ever since her romance with Prince Andrew ended after it was revealed that she had appeared in an ‘art-house’ film, Koo Stark has refused to talk about the ‘scandal’. Now, however, she has finally decided to tell her story — and her memoirs should be a sensational read. Now, however, she has severe financial problems after losing a legal case brought by ex-boyfriend Warren Walker. Their Oscar-winning film about George VI transformed perceptions of the Queen’s father, and now the team behind The King’s Speech are to tell the fascinating true story of another royal relation. I can disclose that the Duchess of Cornwall’s former nephew, Derek Paravicini, is to be the subject of a major new movie. Paravicini, 41 — who is the nephew of Camilla’s first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, and the cousin of her two children — is an autistic savant nicknamed ‘the human iPod’ because of his remarkable ability to recall and play almost any piece of music, even if he’s heard it only once. Netflix was accused of trolling the Royal Family after a 'sinister' post on its official social media account prompted a wave of online hate for Prince Charles and Camilla. The NFL's ongoing investigation into workplace sexual harassment claims made by Washington Football Team employees has revealed a potentially relevant 2009 settlement, and now club owner Daniel Snyder is fighting to prevent details of the agreement from being made public. In an emergency motion reviewed by DailyMail.com that was filed in a Virginia federal court on Monday, Snyder's attorneys declared that he intends to assert 'privileges and privacy' in the matter. The Washington Post was the first to report Monday's motion, which revealed the 2009 settlement. Specifics about the deal remain under seal, but Beth Wilkinson, an attorney investigating the sexual harassment claims for the league, is currently engaged in a legal battle with the club's former counsel to reveal those details. The 2009 settlement involves 'the nature of misconduct,' according to court records. This legal battle follows two separate Washington Post reports over the summer, in which at least 15 women made sexual harassment or other hostile workplace claims against club employees, nearly all of whom departed before or immediately after the accusations were revealed. Sensitive data needs to be encrypted both when it's at rest and in transit—that is, when it's passively stored and when it's being sent from one spot to another. Covering these two bases protects information a lot of the time, but still doesn't account for every scenario. Now Google Cloud Services—which counts PayPal, HSBC, and Bloomberg as customers—is working to fill a crucial gap. When you're storing tons of data in the cloud, you typically don't just move it into place and then leave it. Organizations generally want to actively process the information they hold—meaning cloud customers want to comb and index their data, train machine learning models with it, or otherwise crunch some numbers. With that priority in mind, Google is today introducing a "confidential computing" feature known as Confidential Virtual Machines that will allow customers to keep their data encrypted and inaccessible even while it's being processed. Any entity that runs its own data center might want to have this protection, but it's especially valuable when organizations entrust their data to rented infrastructure from cloud providers like...
