New Delhi (CNN Business)The Chinese version of TikTok is introducing a "teenage mode" that will limit the amount of time children under the age of 14 spend on the short-form video app to 40 minutes a day. The measure will apply to all Douyin users under the age of 14 who have registered for the app using their real names, Beijing-based ByteDance announced in a statement on Saturday. Douyin will also be unavailable to those users between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., the owner of TikTok and Douyin added. The company also urged parents to help their children register with real names, or otherwise manually enable "teenage mode." ByteDance did not immediately respond to a question from CNN Business about how it might enforce the policy for those who don't use their real names. Prego spaghetti sauce was trending because of a viral — and bacterial, by the looks of it — video that featured an unappetizing hack for countertop spaghetti service, but the 40 seconds that were cut to fit it on Twitter took the whole thing to another level. On Tuesday, the famous spaghetti sauce brand set Twitter ablaze, as people commented on a viral cooking hack that featured the latest entry in a genre of kitchen “hacks” that seem designed to attract engagements through revulsion. Originating from the “Josh & Lisa” Facebook page (they also have a TikTok), the video that was posted to Twitter features Lisa assembling a spaghetti dinner directly on her countertop, with her bare hands, while a friend holds the camera and gushes about how awesome it all is. The reactions were about what you’d expect. Call the police https://t.co/146D3owenQ — Rex Chapman???????? A WOMAN has revealed there is a difference between McDonald’s fries in the UK and the US, and the American version has six extra ingredients.  North Carolina-based Vani Hari, who posts as The Food Babe, shocked followers by comparing the ingredients lists from both countries.  4Food blogger Vani Hari shared how US McDonald's fries have hydrogenated oil Vani, 41, who describes herself as a “healthy living activist”, shared how McDonald's fries in the US contain hydrogenated oil, while the UK's has non-hydrogenated oil.  But what is the difference between the two? Hydrogenated vegetable oil or hydrogenated fat comes when artificial trans fats are created during the process of hydrogenation - when liquid oil becomes solid fat. Experts have shared how high levels of the hydrogenated fat disrupts the balance between bad and good cholesterol in the body. WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN US AND UK FRIES? UK ingredients: Potatoes, vegetable oil (sunflower, rapeseed). Dextrose. Fried in non-hydrogenated vegetable oil. Salt is added after cooking. A clinician checks records at the Santa Casa de Misericordia Hospital in Porto Alegre, Brazil. In order to reproduce, a virus must invade and co-opt the mechanisms of a living cell. In the case of SARS-CoV-2, that means copying just 30,000 base pairs of single-threaded RNA. Written out on paper, it would take just about 10 pages of single-spaced text to completely describe the genetic makeup of the virus. In comparison, the human genetic code, about 3 billion base pairs of double-stranded DNA, would take about 1 million pages. As viruses go, the novel coronavirus behind COVID-19 is pretty small. It’s not the smallest; some viruses that specialize in attacking bacteria have a genetic code containing only about 5,000 nucleotides. Influenza A is just 13,600 nucleotides. On the other hand, there are “giant” viruses with genetic codes containing over 1 million nucleotides, so 30,000 is still on the low end.  Every time those 10 pages of genetic code get copied, there is a moderate chance that mistakes will be made. Most changes don’t change anything. Most changes that do change something are bad for...

The princess demands a disclaimer. “The Crown” star Helena Bonham Carter believes Netflix has a “moral responsibility” to warn viewers they are not watching a documentary. The actress, who portrayed Princess Margaret for two seasons on the royal drama, said on the series official podcast that there was an important distinction between “our version” and the “real version.” “It is dramatized. I do feel very strongly, because I think we have a moral responsibility to say, ‘Hang on guys, this is not … it’s not a drama-doc, we’re making a drama.’ So they are two different entities,” said Bonham Carter. Season 4 of the show has caused an uproar due to the unsympathetic portrayal of the monarchy and in particular Prince Charles — with royal experts worried the reputation of the Windsor family could be damaged. The comments from the 54-year-old actress emerged after UK Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden told The Mail on Sunday that he will write to Netflix amid mounting concerns that the royal family’s reputation is being soiled by fictionalized scenes on the show. “Without this,...
With The Witcher: Monster Slayer, Geralt of Rivia is going the way of Pokémon Go. CD Projekt’s version of The Witcher — the mutant monster slayer first created by author Andrzej Sapkowski — has taken many forms. There are the video games of course, but also a spin-off collectible card game, a tabletop role-playing game, and a Netflix series starring Henry Cavil. Soon, there will be an augmented reality game as well. In a news release issued on Wednesday, CD Projekt said its newest studio — Spokko, which was opened in 2018 — has been busy on Monster Slayer for some time. It included a brief teaser trailer, available on YouTube and embedded above, that shows a player walking through a real-life forest only to encounter an Ent-like abomination visible only with the help of his phone. Little about the gameplay, other than stumbling upon virtual monsters in the real-world, was revealed in the trailer. The news release, on the other hand, makes this sound like a very interesting game indeed. ...
