Williams, 47, of Deland - near Orlando - was arrested on September 18 by the Volusia Sherriff's Office after he called 911 and admitted shooting her ex-wife Marsha Ebanks-Williams, 48, and her son Robert Adams, 28.  'Yes, I shot him and his mother,' Williams told the dispatcher, according to the 911 recording, obtained by WESH. 'I had my weapon on me and while they were attacking me, I basically, I had to, basically. 'This does not look like a violent attack that warrants being shot multiple times.'  Williams - who...

Shannon Cox, 48, was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child along with his wife, Sandy, who fled the home in fear but left their young daughter with her father, who proceeded to amputate his leg.  An affidavit describing the August 2 incident in Boone County said police responded to reports of a man with a severed leg, and arrived to find Cox 'lying in front of the residence naked and missing a portion of his right leg.' Shannon told the deputy he had severed his leg with a chop saw, and upon entering the home, the officer discovered blood all over the walls and floor with the leg 'in place still lying on the saw.' A bright future that was taken away viscously over a street robbery.' Mayor Eric Garcetti said the officer 'died a hero trying to defend himself and his girlfriend'. 'My heart is broken. Our city's heart is broken. And certainly our LAPD family's hearts all grieve.'  Los...

Pete Buttigieg has been ridiculed on social media after he appeared to stage a bike ride to the White House in a bid to promote his green credentials.  The Secretary of Transportation, 39, was seen arriving at the building on his bike Thursday to attend a Cabinet meeting with Joe Biden. It appeared the politician had cycled in from his office at the Department of Transportation three miles away.  However, footage from WFMZ-TV  quickly went viral after it purportedly showed Buttigieg's security detail unloading the bike from the back of a 'gas guzzling' SUV just blocks back from the White House.  The vision prompted conservative critics to claim that Buttigieg - who serves as Secretary of Transportation - had pretended to ride much further than he actually had.  'Pete Buttigieg's dog and pony show,' one person raged on Twitter. 'Use an armored Suburban to bring a bike within a short distance of the destination. Unload it and ride in with a security detail in tow, pretending to save energy.' A man ordered by his neighborhood zoning board to remove two statues of “Transformers” characters says he may sue the board. Newton Howard, a Georgetown University neuroscience professor, was ordered by the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission to take down statues of the “Transformers” characters Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, DCist reported. A city inspector had previously told Howard that the statues violated a zoning rule, and multiple neighbors had expressed complaints. What’s the harm in two life-size Transformers statues standing sentry outside a house in Georgetown? Well, plenty, some say.https://t.co/OhlAKHBmO3 pic.twitter.com/vj53Xp0LiQ — DCist (@DCist) March 3, 2021 “The Transformers convey the message of humans coexisting with machines,” Howard explained to DCist of his passion for the films. “Children absolutely love them.” Howard’s neighbors, however, do not. Former NBC News reporter Luke Russert, one of the neighbors who complained about the statues, asked DCist, “What’s to stop someone from putting up a statue of Joseph Stalin and saying well this is provocative, it’s art, it speaks to me?” (RELATED: Many Unhappy With Communist Statues Across the US) The Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission...

Never mind the totally insane content of the video—we at Mother Jones are obsessed with whether this was filmed before a green screen. Protesters on Thursday responded to a report that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is the first man to be worth $200 billion by building a guillotine in front of his Washington, D.C., house. The protest, organized to demand a $30 minimum wage for Amazon workers, attracted about 100 people, led by former Amazon employee Chris Smalls. Smalls, who has protested Bezos before, gestured at the billionaire's house and decried his record-setting wealth. "Give a good reason why we don't deserve a $30 minimum wage when this man makes $4,000-a-second," he said. Smalls told his own story of employment at Amazon, saying that the company had not responded adequately to the coronavirus pandemic. Smalls said that he worked long hours without adequate pay and that he saw other people come in for work who were infected with the coronavirus. In late March, he walked out of the Staten Island shipping center where he worked in protest. Amazon fired him shortly afterward. At the protest, Smalls lectured Bezos's house. It is unclear if the billionaire was inside. "Hey, Jeff Bezos, I'm going to...

Darius Sessoms, 25, was charged Monday with the murder of Cannon Hinnant after a 24-hour manhunt.
