Lamar Jackson’s price tag might have gone up. In the Ravens’ home opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Jackson set the NFL record for the most 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback with 11, surpassing former Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick. The 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player set the record in the most electrifying way possible. With 38 seconds left in the third quarter and the Ravens pinned at their own 21-yard line, Jackson ran up the middle for a 79-yard touchdown, the longest of his career, to give Baltimore a 35-14 lead. Last season, Jackson tied the NFL record during the Ravens’ overtime victory against the Minnesota Vikings when he rushed for 120 yards on 21 carries while passing for 266 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. “I respect [Michael Vick’s] game,” Jackson said after beating the Vikings in 2021. “It’s pretty cool. I appreciate that.” Just like the Vikings, Jackson tormented the Dolphins with both his arm and his legs. In the second quarter, he threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to receiver Rashod Bateman, who caught a...
Nebraska has earned the dubious distinction of being the best 3-9 team in the country. Here’s why, according to Sportradar: Since 1978, when Division I football was split into what is now known as the Bowl Subdivision and Championship Subdivision, no team until the 2021 Cornhuskers had nine single-digit losses in a season. Eight of the nine were one-score games (eight points or less), and the other was a nine-point loss to a top-10 Ohio State. Nebraska played five other ranked opponents and lost all of those by an average of 5.4 points. The Huskers’ went 1-8 in Big Ten play, but their point differential was a wash. They scored 239 points and gave up 239 in league games. Accounting for that oddity was their 56-7 win over Northwestern. Scott Frost is 15-29 in four seasons (.341) and will be brought back next year under a restructured contract. Bill Jennings, who coached the 1957 team that was the only other one in program history to lose nine games, is the only Nebraska coach with a worse winning percentage than Frost...
Trion’s Senior Running Back Rob Brown is having a great week with tons of recognition after his outstanding production in the Region 6A matchup with Armuchee.  While the game was shortened due to lighting (Armuchee forfeited at the end of halftime) the Bulldogs were pleased to head home after two quarters with a dominating performance resulting in a lopsided 48-7 score over the Indians. In the game Rob Brown had six touchdowns, 4 rushing and two receiving. Brown has been recognized by Recruit Georgia as having one of the top plays of the week and by Georgia High School Football Daily as having one of the top five games in the state. #RGTop10 – GO VOTE FOR THE #1 PLAY HERE: https://t.co/CtB2O1WyMd@robDbrown26 @kellon05999542 @maxeubanks3 @JosephRidley36 @EliAgnew @MarcusXAllen7 @DLalaian @JadynRice7 @ZCigelske @AverySmith2022 @Ethanjo1 pic.twitter.com/DzhrxYyh8I — Recruit Georgia (@RecruitGeorgia) October 25, 2021 From GHSF: “Trion RB Rob Brown rushed for 290 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries, caught two passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns, had two tackles and...
Hannah Brown Writes About Past Depression, Lifes Messiness in New Memoir: Im Still Learning States Where People Can’t Pay Mortages With the kickoff of the 2021 NFL season just one day away, fantasy draft season is in full swing and the sportsbooks are working overtime. And while the usual NFL stars are still big draws for bettors, one starting quarterback is getting a little extra attention ahead of Week 1. © Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen According to ESPN, Buffalo Bills' QB1 Josh Allen is a heavy preseason favorite among bettors to win the Associated Press MVP award. The 25-year-old is placed at 12:1 odds at Caesers Sportsbook -- tied with Super Bowl champ Tom Brady -- and despite not being favored as heavily as Patrick Mahomes (5:1) or Aaron Rodgers (10:1) Allen is the player bettors are most interested in this preseason. Expectations for Allen are high after he led the Bills to a 13-3 record last season. Still, it is pretty impressive that he has drawn twice as many bets at the sportsbooks...
Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III turned in the best rushing performance in a season opener in seven years when he went for a career-high 264 yards against Northwestern. Walker’s total in the Spartans’ 38-21 win Friday was the highest in an opener since South Florida’s Marlon Mack went for 275 yards against Western Carolina in 2014. Walker had the highest rushing total in an opener against a fellow Football Bowl Subdivision opponent since West Virginia’s Kay-Jay Harris ran for 337 yards against East Carolina in 2004. Walker had a 75-yard touchdown run on Michigan State’s first play from scrimmage, and his four rushing TDs were the most by a Spartan since 2010. The Wake Forest transfer was the first MSU player to go over 200 yards since Le’Veon Bell had 266 against Minnesota in 2012. Three other players had 200-yard games in Week 1: Duke’s Mataeo Durant had a school-record 255 in a loss to Charlotte, North Texas’ DeAndre Torrey had a career-high 244 against Northwestern State, and Missouri’s Tyler Badie had a career-high 203 against Central Michigan. Getty Javian Hawkins #10 of the Louisville Cardinals went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft. It’s easy to sleep on the Atlanta Falcons run game as it’s been non-existent for the past four years. But, that could change this season with the addition of veteran running back Mike Davis, but more importantly, undrafted free agent Javian Hawkins. Hawkins, who went undrafted in April, is the Falcons’ “most talented back on the roster,” according to NFL analyst Thor Nystrom. He’s also convinced that between Hawkins and Pitts, opposing defenses will have a hard time stacking the box, if able to at all. But you won’t be able to stack the box against the Falcons — and I mean ever, under any circumstances — with Kyle Pitts in the slot (or out wide, whatever) Which plays to the game of the most talented back on the roster — Javian Hawkins https://t.co/bNUHHAsbEr — Thor Nystrom (@thorku) May 14, 2021 ALL the latest Falcons news straight to your inbox! The 2020 offseason was unlike any other we’ve seen in a long time, and for reasons other than the coronavirus pandemic throwing more than a few monkey wrenches into the equation.  Cam Newton, Teddy Bridgewater, Tom Brady, Nick Foles, Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco, Jameis Winston all will be donning new colors heading into the 2020 season, and so, so many more are dealing with heightened expectations as the power in the AFC and NFC both shift. Every quarterback in the NFL is dealing with pressure, and every quarterback is dealing with different expectations given their production, standing with the franchise and ownership’s future plans, but so many are dealing with heightened expectations and have something to prove: whether that’s to their organizations for new contract or putting hopes on the future, or silencing critics once and for all. Just a year after 31 teams passed on him, NFL executives are now gushing with praise for the 23-year-old quarterback. © Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports Is Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson the most dangerous player in the NFL? While some might have concerns about Jackson’s ability to sustain his dominance, at least one NFL executive believes Baltimore is ready to roll with an unstoppable force on offense. The Athletic’s Mike Sando released his quarterback tiers for the 2020 season with NFL coaches and executives weighing in on every quarterback. While not every gunslinger received praise, Jackson isn’t short on fans across the league. Many of the NFL’s top minds already believe Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Before fantasy football judged NFL teams by their quarterback-running back-wide receiver combinations, the Cowboys set the bar. Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin were dubbed “The Triplets” on the way to three Super Bowls in the 1990s. Ever since, trios are a measure of explosiveness. The Post ranked the 16 most dynamic “triplets” in 2020: 1. Saints (Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas): Thomas criticized Brees for insensitive remarks on racism protests, then accepted his apology. Will it alter their on-field chemistry? Thomas set the NFL record with 470 receptions through his first four seasons playing with the NFL’s career leader in passing yards and touchdowns. Kamara averages 100 yards per game from scrimmage. 2. Cowboys (Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper): Does Prescott benefit more from his top two playmakers or vice versa? Prescott is still seeking a long-term contract like Elliott and Cooper. Elliott won two rushing titles in four seasons. The Cowboys overpaid to keep Cooper. 3. Chiefs (Patrick Mahomes, Damien Williams, Travis Kelce): Mahomes-Kelce might be the best duo. Or it could be...

One graphic tells you everything you need to know about how dominant Barry Sanders was playing college football for Oklahoma State. During the 1988 season, the former Detroit Lions superstar rewrote the record books when playing for the OSU Cowboys. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football) As pointed out by Fox College Football, Sanders still holds the record more than 30 years later for the most rushing yards in a season. He racked up 2,850 yards during the 1988 campaign. The next closest was former Wisconsin star Melvin Gordon, who was still about 300 yards short of catching Sanders. ???? @BarrySanders‘ 1988 season still stands above the rest as the greatest rushing season of all time.
