Getty Geno Smith celebrates a touchdown. The Detroit Lions got off to a horrible start on defense against the Seattle Seahawks, and fans were downright frustrated about how things went early. In the first half, the Lions gave up 24 points to the Seahawks, and didn’t offer much resistance on the defensive side. The way they were being carved up by Seattle was quite hilarious to some fans. Yahoo Sports analyst Charles Robinson found it funny that the Lions were making the very average Geno Smith look like Lamar Jackson. #Lions got Geno Smith looking like Lamar Jackson out here. — Charles Robinson (@CharlesRobinson) October 2, 2022 “Lions got Geno Smith looking like Lamar Jackson out here,” Robinson tweeted. While the irony of that was funny to some, the performance was no laughing matters to others. Aaron Glenn is taking some heat from fans from a defense that they see is no good. I'm sure Aaron Glenn is a lovely guy but HOLY SHIT HIS DEFENSE SUCKS. #Lions — PoliticalMama ???? (@politicalmablog) October 2, 2022 “I’m sure Aaron...
After losing back-to-back games to start the season, Notre Dame is heading towards a gloomier year with horrible news.  Luck of the Irish? Not. After two losses, including a disaster against Marshall, Notre Dame was dealt another blow, this time by the injury bug. On Monday, head coach Marcus Freeman announced that quarterback Tyler Buchner will likely be out for the year with a shoulder injury and would be undergoing surgery. This now leaves Drew Pyne as the starter for the Irish moving forward. Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman says QB Tyler Buchner is likely out for the year: "He ended up getting I think a Grade 5 out of 6 AC sprain in his non-throwing shoulder." Buchner will have surgery tomorrow and the expected recovery time is 4 months. Drew Pyne is QB1. — Matt Fortuna (@Matt_Fortuna) September 12, 2022 Sheesh. Talk about a bad break for Notre Dame, but so far, this whole season has been a tough go, as has Freeman’s tenure. 0-3 to start the year, including the bowl game loss to Oklahoma State last...
Getty Jared Goff playing the Eagles in Week 1 of the 2022 season. The Detroit Lions came into the 2022 season full of optimism about their quarterback, but it hasn’t taken long for that to be slightly dashed. Jared Goff is struggling to start the first half of Detroit’s season opener, and fans are downright frustrated in a big way with his play. They are taking to the internet to roast Goff for his erratic start to the year. As NFL personality Dov Kleiman pointed out, at one point late in the first half, Goff only had six passing yards to his credit. Jared Goff has 6 passing yards in the first half. — Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) September 11, 2022 “Jared Goff has 6 passing yards in the first half,” he tweeted. While that number would go up, the faith in Goff didn’t, exactly. Many fans want the team to stink in order to find his replacement. I want Detroit to lose enough games that allows them to draft Jared Goff’s replacement. — Rj (@rd606) September 11, 2022...
Former Detroit Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya put the front office on blast for their historically-bad offensive pace so far this season. Zumaya reemerged from the depths of our imaginations — and by our, I mean mid-2000’s Detroit Tigers fans — to put the front office on full blast for their inability to field a competitive roster this season. Detroit last made the official postseason in 2014, and haven’t really been competitive since 2017, when they traded away Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros. A rebuild was in order, but fans expected to see some progress this season. Instead, they’ve taken a rather large step in the wrong direction, and everyday supporters of the team aren’t the only ones to take note. Well, it looks like Joel Zumaya isn’t a big fan of the current Detroit Tigers front office… pic.twitter.com/QdEj2l3AKI — Chris Brown (@ChrisBrown0914) May 25, 2022 Zumaya called for the end of the Al Avila era and more, including firing much of the baseball analytics staff.Tigers: Is Joel Zumaya right about Detroit baseball?Unfortunately for Detroit, it’s not as simple...
CHELSEA boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he will be missing at least FOUR first-team stars for Saturday's game against Leeds. The fierce rivals will go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge at 3pm. 2 But Tuchel has something of a dilemma on his hands - with N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah all missing. The Blues boss also confirmed Reece James will return to wing-back after playing in the heart of midfield - with Saul Niguez and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the wide roles - for the 3-3 Champions League draw at Zenit. Jorginho is still an injury worry for Chelsea, but the Italian is set to once again 'play through the pain'. Tuchel revealed: "Chalobah is still out, Kovacic is obviously out. Kante is out for tomorrow and Ben Chilwell. "Jorginho did the last two training sessions and he will do what he did in the last games and play through pain and do what's needed to be on the pitch. "Reecey will start the match [vs Leeds] as a wing-back. Most read in Premier LeagueGUNNERS LATEST Wijnaldum shock...
More On: washington nationals Take the Over in this National League showdown Nationals ace goes on ‘spy camera’ rant after disastrous outing Mets get makeup dates for COVID-19 postponed Nationals games Jacob deGrom didn’t second guess his early Mets exit Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg landed on the injured list Sunday with right shoulder inflammation, after insisting that he was healthy after getting tagged for eight runs in his most recent outing. Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Sunday that an MRI revealed Strasburg has “some inflammation” and that the organization wants “to be smart,” without divulging a timetable for a return. “This is all about Stephen right now and taking care of Stephen to make sure that when he does come back, he’s ready to go,” Martinez said. Strasburg also was angered after Tuesday’s 14-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals that he was shown on the television broadcast during the third inning of the game rubbing the area between his neck and shoulder while seated inside the tunnel between the dugout and the clubhouse. see also ...
Getty It has been rough going so far for Lakers center Marc Gasol (left). After what was a pretty miserable debut game for Lakers starting center Marc Gasol on Tuesday against the Clippers on NBA Opening Night, Gasol vowed that things would get better. It was a low bar—Gasol did not take a shot in 12 minutes in his first game in purple-and-gold, notching one rebound, one assist and five fouls. Here’s how Gasol described it on a video conference with reporters: Never got in a rhythm offensively. Obviously never really had a chance to be in a lot of actions and help my teammates and the team. And defensively, just got put in a couple bad positions from the get-go. Little ticky-tacky fouls. The referees were being very hard … on the first half of the game, I think, and I got the worst end of the stick, or the short end of the stick a couple times. When you’re in foul trouble, you’re always then more cautious. But I got in more foul trouble again and...
LSU football coach Ed Orgeron thinks the team needs to find itself after a terrible start to the 2020 season. The Tigers are 1-2 after the first three weeks of the SEC campaign, and there are issues all over the field. The man running the show seems to think it’s time for a hard and long look in the mirror. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football) “We’ve got to really look at what we’re doing and do some soul searching,” Orgeron explained after losing to Missouri, according to USA Today. I really don’t understand how LSU is this bad. Initially when they lost to Mississippi State, I just figured the Tigers weren’t ready for the air raid. Then, MSU turned out to also be absolutely terrible. Now, LSU has losses to Missouri and MSU on their resume. It’s completely unacceptable.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by LSU Football (@lsufootball) on Oct 11, 2020 at 10:47am PDT You can’t go from winning the national title to losing multiple...
Tyrod Taylor missed his start against Kansas City due to a punctured lung. The Los Angeles Chargers were planning to roll out Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback against the Kansas City Chiefs, but a mysterious chest injury minutes before kickoff led to Justin Herbert being named the starter in his stead. We finally have some clarity as to what happened last Sunday, and it is unexpected and unusual, to say the least. Taylor was going to play against the Chiefs with a flak jacket due to his cracked ribs, but he suffered a punctured lung after the team doctor tried to administer a pain-killing injection in his ribs right before kickoff. Schefter claims that the NFLPA is already investigating the matter. (CNN)2020 has not been a great year for US elections. Seriously, look at this drone footage from The New York Times of socially distanced people waiting to vote in Atlanta on Tuesday. This right here is absolutely not the way it's supposed to work. But long lines for the Georgia primary are far from the first storm cloud this year.Failure in Iowa -- First, the Iowa caucuses were basically invalidated (faulty technology). That was way back in February, which feels like a decade ago but wasn't. Pandemic voting -- Then, courts and GOP lawmakers essentially forced an in-person primary in Wisconsin just as Covid-19 was taking hold in April, forcing people to vote in-person at the height of the frenzy. Most other states delayed theirs. Read MoreLong lines -- While some states have handled the pandemic pivot fine, others have floundered. Voters in Washington, DC, crammed into a fraction of the normal polling places, waited hours to cast primary ballots early in June, and some were forced to stay out past a curfew in place in the early days of racial...
