ICE hockey star Jimmy Hayes died with fentanyl and cocaine in his body, his widow revealed. The former NHL player, 31, died at his home in Milton, Massachusetts on August 23. 1Former Boston Bruins star Jimmy Hayes died in AugustCredit: AP Coroners conducted an autopsy two days after the sportsman died but his family didn’t learn of the cause of death until Friday, The Boston Globe reports. The cause of death was listed as “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine.” Jimmy’s wife Kristen was left “completely shocked” by the toxicology findings.  She told the Globe: “I was completely shocked. I was so certain that it had nothing to do with drugs. I really thought it was a heart attack or anything that wasn’t that [drugs]. "It didn’t make any sense, so it was hard. I was hoping to get a different phone call when they called.” Kristen said Jimmy “never showed any signs of struggle” at home.  Jimmy featured for the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, and the Chicago Blackhawks over seven years in the...
Big Tech companies should be regulated as telecommunications companies are to combat political censorship, Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) said on Friday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow, author of Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption. Marlow noted how Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other technology companies are censoring content and banning users for expressing ideas contrary to endlessly shifting and nebulous parameters of “misinformation” as defined by Big Tech. “I’m not saying anyone knows where coronavirus came from,” Marlow said. “I don’t know the timeline. I don’t know what China was up to, but I do know one thing: that the media told us that even considering such an idea was grounds for being thrown off of the social media platforms.” Smith replied, “The political arm of the Democrat socialist party is Big Tech [and] the social media platforms. We saw it before the November election, where the Hunter Biden story came out a few weeks before, and guess what? They banned it. They hid it because it couldn’t be true, but then...
LOMBRIVES CAVE, France -- Ever wonder what it would feel like to unplug from a hyperconnected world and hide away in a dark cave for 40 days?Fifteen people in France did just that, emerging Saturday from a scientific experiment to say that time seemed to pass more slowly in their cavernous underground abode in southwestern France, where they were deprived of clocks and light. With big smiles on their pale faces, the 15 left their voluntary isolation in the Lombrives cave to a round of applause and basked in the light while wearing special glasses to protect their eyes after so long in the dark."It was like pressing pause," said 33-year-old Marina Lanon, one of the seven female members in the experiment, adding she didn't feel there was a rush to do anything.Although she wished she could have stayed in the cave a few days longer, she said she was happy to feel the wind blowing on her face again and hear the birds sing in the trees of the French Pyrénées. And she doesn't plan to open her smartphone for...
The Telegraph Raising taxes before pandemic is over ‘makes no sense’, David Cameron warns Rishi Sunak It would not make “any sense at all” to raise taxes in next week’s Budget while the UK is still in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic, David Cameron has warned Rishi Sunak. Mr Cameron said any tax rises must wait until the UK has emerged from all lockdown measures and urged ministers to consider the pandemic a “wartime situation”. Speaking to CNN, the former Prime Minister defended his own austerity measures while in Government after the 2008 financial crisis, but said the same policy would be damaging now. “Today we do face very different circumstances,” he said. “So piling, say, tax increases on top of that before you’ve even opened up the economy wouldn’t make any sense at all. “I think it’s been right for the government here in the UK and governments around the world to recognise this is more like a sort of wartime situation.” Mr Sunak will deliver his Budget next week, and is expected to announce an increase in...
BOB ARUM compared Deontay Wilder to Donald Trump for his list of his list of excuses as to why he lost to Tyson Fury. The Gypsy King's co-promoter blasted the Bronze Bomber for emulating the former American president with a series of lies. But the one-sided nature of the fight hasn't quelled a stream of excuses that have flowed ever since. Among the reasons Wilder has blamed for his defeat have been his heavy ring-walk outfit and allegations that his drinking water had been spiked. The Bronze Bomber also claimed that dodgy gloves allowed Fury to cut his ears with his fingernails - despite zero evidence. It's a sure sign of the disastrous effect all these days stuck at home are having when even suave Tom Hiddleston decides to give up on any sense of style. I spotted the actor taking pet spaniel Bobby for a walk dressed up in a bizarre combination of woolly wellies, running tights, shorts, scruffy jumper, anorak, red hat and doubled-up face mask. Hunky actor Tom, 39, is better known for his dashing appearances in public and on screen, so maybe I should thank him – he's made my lockdown combo of old pyjamas and a dressing gown look positively chic… It's a sure sign of the disastrous effect all these days stuck at home are having when even suave Tom Hiddleston decides to give up on any sense of style I spotted the actor taking pet spaniel Bobby for a walk dressed up in a bizarre combination of woolly wellies, running tights, shorts, scruffy jumper, anorak, red hat and doubled-up face mask  It was bad enough when everyone started obsessing about cakes and sourdough bread.  But fashionista Alexa...
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – A Roseville family is pleading for the public’s help after their father went missing in a remote area of Placer County hit by heavy snow. Shona Deshon is desperate to find her father, 69-year-old David Deshon. She says he has health issues and can’t walk very far. “I’m worried that he is out there. He might have gotten out of the car and is in the snow and buried. I don’t know where he is at,” she said. “And if he’s out in the snow like this, it’s not going to be good.” David’s car was found buried under several feet of snow. Authorities found it after responding to a call early Thursday morning about a person in distress at mile marker 19 on Mosquito Ridge Road, east of Foresthill and Michigan Bluff. “I am just getting conflicting stories. I don’t know what’s going on. There is no tracks of my dad leaving the vehicle, but there is another vehicle’s tracks,” Shona said. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says those tire tracks indicate he may have been...
JOE Biden said that son Hunter won't have conflicts of interests in his White House and insisted he wants Donald Trump at his inauguration. Hunter became the subject of a media storm after the New York Post published a "smoking-gun" email - allegedly obtained from his laptop - on October 14. The news outlet alleged that the email reveals how Hunter Biden introduced his father to a Ukrainian businessman, Vadym Pozharskyi, when Joe Biden was Vice President. The Biden campaign has strongly denied these Hunter Biden laptop claims. 4Trump has not confirmed if he will attend Biden's inaugurationCredit: Getty Images 4Joe Biden is the projected winner of the electionCredit: EPA...
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — As local COVID-19 cases continue to spike, parts of Staten Island are now in an orange zone. That means as more restrictions take effect Wednesday, there is more angst for many business owners and residents, CBS2’s Dave Carlin reported. The micro-cluster strategy appears to be unpopular across parts of Staten Island, where some businesses reluctantly comply, including nail salons and fitness centers, while a few push back. “We don’t want to go through another shutdown. Everybody is just trying to get back on the road, man,” resident Xavier Rodriguez said. Arnold Schwarzenegger voiced his frustrations with a lack of patriotism in America in a video message that showed him calling for more support for military veterans. The former California governor, 73, filmed himself during and after a visit to the Los Angeles National Cemetery on Veterans Day. He said he makes the trip every year on the federal holiday but was disappointed at the low turnout this year. "I was kind of upset. You have to understand it doesn't make any sense that in this cemetery, where there are almost 100,000 people buried – veterans – that there are only like, 20 people walking around," Schwarzenegger said on Instagram. "Think about that. I mean, 20 people for almost 100,000 veterans that are buried there. But then 20,000 or so will go to a political rally where someone promises to make America great," the actor continued. AP Photo/Julio Cortez For indispensable reporting on the coronavirus crisis, the election, and more, subscribe to the Mother Jones Daily newsletter. In the second presidential debate of 2020, the sitting president running for reelection was not bonkers. He was only occasionally rude, and his rants were intermittent, not constant. So compared with his maniacal performance in the first debate, Donald Trump scored. But he still sent the message: He doesn’t care that much about other people. Not about COVID victims. Not about children separated from their parents (and those who are horrified by that). Not about Dreamers. Not about families of color who have to contend with police violence. Not about Americans who sit at the kitchen table worrying about their health care, jobs, and bills. Almost every time Trump had the opportunity to connect with others beyond the debate stage, he took a pass. His focus was mainly on slamming—and smearing—Joe Biden. And that mission was largely untempered by any demonstrable concern for the citizenry. Biden had that territory all to himself—and he seized it.  This was clear right out...
Should the New York Yankees be concerned with Gerrit Cole in any sense? By: Olivier Dumont ShareTweetFlipRedditWhen the start of the 2020 season commenced in late July, the New York Yankees entered as the strong favorites to not only win their division but at the very least, make yet another World Series appearance.  At the time, this was understandably so; the Yankees reemerged over the last three years as the mighty franchise that they’re notoriously known for being, reaching 100 wins in back-to-back seasons and doing so with utter power and dominance.  Barring an incredible amount of hype as is, this newly stamped status was elevated to an even higher level when the Yankees decided to pull out a 9-year, $324 million-dollar contract to sign superstar ace, Gerrit Cole in the typical, grandiose Yankees style. When your entire offseason consists of one massive signing, that alone should tell you just how strong of a team the Yankees already have across their entire roster. However, fast forward to the end of September and all of a...
