A NAME consultant shared one of the worst names she's ever heard. Stephanie Lynn Coffield, a professional consultant, revealed a baby name that was so bad it was banned by the Swedish government with her 200k TikTok followers. 2Peaceful baby lying on a bed and sleeping at homeCredit: Getty She explained that in 1982, a law was passed in Sweden that banned unsuitable and offensive first names for babies. The Swedish law states that:  "First names shall not be approved if they can cause offense or can be supposed to cause discomfort for the one using it, or names which for some obvious reason are not suitable as a first name." Registration of baby names is run by the country's tax agency, and baby names must be submitted for approval within three months of birth. A couple decided to take no heed to the law, and decided to name their baby "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116." On the outskirts of Ukraine's second city, Kharkiv, lies a suburb of Soviet-era apartment blocks that were once filled with families who enjoyed comfortable lifestyles after coming home from local factories, offices and schools. Today, most families have fled, the factories are destroyed, the schools lie mainly in ruins and precious few children are around to enjoy the brightly coloured swings and slides in the playgrounds. Saltivka — with its blackened homes and blown-out windows — offers a stark illustration of the nihilistic stupidity of war. It is the hardest-hit area of a cultured European city that has seen at least a third of its buildings destroyed. Kharkiv's regional government office — on the fringe of Freedom Square, where Ukraine's biggest statue of Lenin once stood — was wrecked by a cruise missile. Even the children's hospital was hit three times, cluster bombs shredding wards where young cancer patients were treated. After spending 25 weeks reporting on this nation's struggle for survival over the past year, I have seen too many places such as Saltivka bearing grotesque witness to the...
A Long Island man whose “terrifying” abuse led to the death of two puppies and nearly killed a third is heading to jail. Ellie Knoller, age 32, of Mineola, was sentenced to one year behind bars Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Nassau County Court. It followed his guilty plea to three felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals in March 2022. Investigators began looking into Knoller in February 2019, when he brought a lethargic and lifeless 11-week-old female Goldendoodle puppy named Bella to an emergency veterinarian in Westbury. An examination revealed that she had suffered multiple fractured ribs, bruising on her lungs, bleeding behind her eyes, and a broken leg, according to prosecutors. Her injuries were so severe that one of her legs had to be amputated, while a metal rod was inserted in another leg to aid in its healing. Bella’s medical care was so expensive that the Nassau County SPCA established a separate page on its website to collect donations from the public. Further investigation revealed that just weeks before Bella was brought in, Knoller had...

PACKING our kids' packed lunches is one of the last things we do before going to bed every night - so let's just say, they're not going to win any prizes for creativity. But if you've ever felt guilty for sending your little one to school with the same cheese sandwich and crisps every day, then these teachers are about to make you feel a whole lot better. 1Teachers have been sharing the most shocking packed lunches they've ever come acrossCredit: Getty From an old McDonald's takeaway to a can of shandy, teachers on Facebook have been sharing some of the worst packed lunches they've ever come across. As the Mirror reports, one teacher said she was concerned when she saw a primary school student sipping on a can of Red Bull. After asking his mum about it, the parent said she only put it in there because she thought he seemed tired. The teacher was told: "He’d had a late night on his Xbox and seemed like he needed a pick-me-up." What's more, a Birmingham-based teacher says a student...
THERE have been ten years of Tinder. A decade in which millions of people, including myself, have got a serious RSI from swiping right. When Tinder first appeared in 2012, I had the dubious privilege of being one of the first journalists to give this ‘crazy’ new way of dating a try. It seemed a weird novelty then to match with random people nearby, just using your phone. 3Ten years ago, I optimistically wrote that Tinder was a way to 'find love from the palm of your hand', - I laugh now at how naïve I was, writes KatieCredit: Shutterstock 3Katie says 'Perhaps the greatest sea-change Tinder led was removing the stigma from online dating' 3Founded by Sean Rad, then 26, Tinder changed the possibilities of datingCredit: Getty - Contributor I optimistically wrote that this new dating app was a way to “find love from the palm of your hand”. I laugh now at how naïve I was. Or perhaps I should cry given that this week (a decade on) I’ve just joined Tinder again. Either way, in ten years...

What's been the worst photo you've seen on Instagram? There are so many candidates for this coveted title that I'm only surprised there isn't now a Shameful Selfie awards ceremony, not least because all the perpetrators would definitely attend 'for the gram' such is their shocking lack of self-awareness. You could even lower the winners through a trapdoor on stage into a pool of ravenous sharks and they'd still view it as a price worth paying for going viral. A popular humorous website called 'Runt Of The Web' records some of the most deplorable outrages perpetrated on Instagram. As it says: 'What happens when you mix unbridled narcissism with unyielding stupidity and millions of teenagers willing to document every moment of their life? Why, the worst Instagram pictures ever.' Their list of shame includes a photo of a grim-faced old lady lying in a hospital bed being peppered with $100 bills by two of her grandchildren. 'My sister and I visiting my nana at #stanfordhospital,' reads the caption, 'making her happy by making it rain with #hundreds. The poor woman...
The essential 90s country playlist 11 Colleges With the Most Billionaire Alumni Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes did something on Sunday night that he’s never done before. © Provided by NBC Sports With the team up 35-24 in the third quarter, Mahomes tried to throw a pass to tight end Travis Kelce with Ravens edge rusher Odafe Oweh bearing down on him. Ravens cornerback Tavon Young picked off the floater and Mahomes had thrown an interception in a September game for the first time in his career. After the Ravens’ 36-35 win, Mahomes said he should have made a safer throw to wide receiver Demarcus Robinson. Some people know just how to deliver a compliment that sounds - and feels - just like an insult.  Women have shared the worst back-handed flattery they've received on the US-based anonymous confession app Whisper.  One woman said her boss told her she was not interesting, but that he appreciated how reliable she was, while another was complimented for having nice legs, before being asked: 'What happened to the rest of you?'  A lot of people found that the backhanded compliments were chat up lines that went very badly wrong.   On face value there's nothing especially bad about saying that someone is 'too cute to be single' but not when you follow it up by suggesting that the person must be mentally unstable, while another was told she was pretty despite her short hair.  Anonymous people from the US have shared the worst back-handed compliments they've ever received. One woman was complimented on her legs but asked what had happened to the rest of her body A woman with short hair was not flattered when a man told...

CALL off the dogs. The hunt is over. I think I’ve finally found the worst television programme of lockdown. Mind you, I thought I’d found it with The Steph Show but that at least was live, from her living room and featured rogue neighbours ringing her doorbell for a laugh mid-transmission. 3Celebrity Snoop Dogs is the worst television programme of lockdown and it won’t come as a surprise that it’s also broadcast by Channel 4Credit: Channel 4 This thing? This thing is Celebrity Snoop Dogs and it probably won’t come as a big surprise to you that it’s also broadcast by Channel 4, who’ve had a dreadful pandemic, in terms of light entertainment and pretty much everything else, except Bez and Shaun Ryder on Celebrity Gogglebox. They’ve passed the hand grenade and narrating duties here to poor old Kevin McCloud, off Grand Designs, who takes a meandering, pun-filled age to tell us what the hell is actually going on with Celebrity Snoop Dogs, until he finally blurts out: “We’ve strapped cameras to their dogs.” The show is based heavily on...
