Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sports are suing YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul for more than $100MILLION in a defamation lawsuit, the promoter's attorney has told DailyMail.com. Hearn has taken exception to 'outrageously false and baseless allegations' by Paul on September 20, in which he claimed the Englishman's company had paid a judge on more than one occasion. Matchroom are now seeking over $100m in damages, and in a statement to DailyMail.com, Hearn's attorney Frank Salzano said: 'Both legally and ethically there is a clear line separating opinion from defamatory lies. Jake Paul knows that, and he purposely crossed that line when he wrongly accused Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn of fixing fights.  'Nonetheless he was still given an opportunity to retract his defamatory statements and refused to. Now he will face the legal consequences of his actions as Matchroom and Mr. Hearn will be seeking damages well in excess of $100million given the value and goodwill attached to the Matchroom business and the harmful nature of Mr. Paul's comments.' EDDIE HEARN slammed Jake Paul's 'idiotic' allegation that Matchroom "paid money" to a judge scoring Anthony Joshua's fight. The same judge also had Katie Taylor beat Paul-promoted champion Amanda Serrano 97-93 in their April undisputed title bout. As a result, the YouTuber-turned boxer accused Hearn's Matchroom stable of bribery, something the promoter vehemently denies. The lucrative business deal between Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom Sport and broadcasting giant Sky Sports is on the brink of an extension. Sky Sports helped in packaging and delivering content for Matchroom’s boxers through its conventional television channel, digital platforms, blogs, podcasts, and more. This has enabled the spread of the sport and given a huge platform to the pugilists...

The main problem is lots of countries have substantial budgets from their governments to bring in major sports events. We don’t. Anthony Joshua will fight behind closed doors this year if he has to, but promoter Eddie Hearn is optimistic there will be a crowd at the O2 Arena for a Dec. 12 bout against Kubrat Pulev.
