LET’S destroy the myth that the EU’s priority in Northern Ireland is peace. It’s not. 1The EU’s priority in Northern Ireland is not peace - it wants to drag the UK back inCredit: EPA The “protocol”, part of our Brexit withdrawal agreement, is self-evidently now the gravest threat to stability there. That’s partly due to the ludicrously officious way Brussels seeks to apply it. Its latest proposals would trigger food shortages, soaring prices and ruinous extra red tape for firms. Worse still, it makes Unionists fear they are being crow-barred out of the UK. READ MORE ON NORTHERN IRELANDPROTOCOL 'GONE' PM prepares to spark massive row by ripping up Northern Ireland Brexit deal No government can be formed there until that is sorted. The EU won’t budge. It and its fans here berate the Government for wanting to amend the deal they signed in 2019. But the Tories only did so under colossal and urgent pressure to end years of Parliamentary paralysis, and even avert civil unrest, as Remainer MPs refused to enact the Brexit the...

Dragun currently remains in the competition and has viewers thinking they could be a former RuPaul’s Drag Race star. For their debut performance, they sang the Toy Story classic “You’ve Got A Friend In Me.” The panel — Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan — were getting different vibes from them and weren’t completely certain on whether they were a male or female. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Dragon hinted they might have some relation to being a drag act in their first clue package, saying “mustn’t drag on.” They also revealed they “might be cute but sometimes I have a fiery temper!” A picture of money inside a house was also shown in the VT. EU and UK negotiators, Michel Barnier and David Frost at start of the first round of post -Brexit trade deal talks – BRITAIN-EU/PARLIAMENT This article was originally published in our subscriber-only Brexit Bulletin newsletter. You can sign up to receive this here. British and EU negotiators may be on the cusp of a trade deal – but Brexit never ends.  Talks with Brussels have been dragging on for years. They will be a regular part of British life, continuing long into the future after the trade agreement is struck.  Britain has escaped the EU but it can never escape negotiating with it. Even a no-deal Brexit wouldn’t prevent the unavoidable future of talks with the EU, and talks about talks with the EU. Brussels, which is always comfortable playing the long game, is reportedly considering asking for a 10- to 15-year review clause in the trade deal and fishing agreement.  If presented with this demand, David Frost, the UK’s chief negotiator, would be well within his rights to channel Al Pacino in The Godfather Part III and bellow: “Just...

By JILL LAWLESS, Associated Press LONDON (AP) — As much of Britain’s economy emerged from the coronavirus lockdown, its theaters stayed dark, with performers and staff unwillingly idled. So they made a song and dance about it. Scores of actors, technicians and theater workers led by pantomime “Dames” — male actors in fabulously eccentric drag -- marched through London’s West End to Parliament to the beat of showtunes Wednesday, asking the government for a plan to bring theaters back to life. The demonstrators were highlighting the prospect of a bleak Christmas season without the hundreds of pantomimes usually staged across the U.K. Pantos — a raucous blend of fairy-tale plots, topical references, slapstick, song, dance and innuendo — are as much a part of the British holiday season as turkey and presents. The star characters are the Dames, bawdy female characters played by men. “This is probably the only time I’ll get into a frock this year,” said actor Tim Hudson, who in normal times would be preparing for his 21st panto season. Instead he donned a patchwork floral dress...

Earnest, bespectacled, boyish, Nathan Law, 27, has a gentle, scholarly air that belies the fierceness of his convictions. Speaking to me from a small apartment in London – he will not disclose the location – the fear that drove him to flee his native Hong Kong is tangible. 'Wherever I am in the world, I'm still a target,' he says. 'I can't stay in the same place for more than a month. I'll be constantly moving.' But when I told him that the Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab was to announce that the UK planned to terminate its extradition agreement with Hong Kong, he was visibly relieved. Earnest, bespectacled, boyish, Nathan Law, 27, has a gentle, scholarly air that belies the fierceness of his convictions. He is pictured right with activist Joshua Wong in 2016 'That's such good news because it means that Britain recognises that Hong Kong's rule of law does not exist,' he says.  'For me, it's important that they can't extradite me back to Hong Kong.' It was a couple of weeks ago that Law – the...
