The teams all won the championship in 2021 but had to delay the celebration due to COVID. The Georgia football program continues to be near the front of the line for Arch Manning’s high-profile 2023 commitment. While there were several other notable college coaches at Arch Manning‘s high school basketball game on Monday night, Kirby Smart and the Georgia football program had a tremendous presence in New Orleans. Smart was there in-person to watch the five-star 2023 quarterback prospect hoop it up for Isidore Newman. Joining him at the prestigious New Orleans private school includes offensive coordinator Todd Monken, offensive line coach Matt Luke and offensive assistant Buster Faulkner, who may receive a promotion with former wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton heading to Baton Rouge. While the Mannings have done a great job about not tipping Arch’s hand, is Georgia now the favorite to land the prized 2023 recruit over the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Ole Miss and Texas?Georgia football: Will the Dawgs end up landing Arch Manning in 2023?With teams like Clemson and Texas not having great 2021 seasons up to their programs’ lofty standards, Georgia has quietly asserted itself in the Manning sweepstakes, possibly into pole position...
Getty Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney. When Rich Bisaccia took over as the Las Vegas Raiders‘ interim head coach, it looked like a longshot that he would keep the job going forward. He quickly led the team to two wins and it then looked like his chances of keeping the job were going up. After that strong start, the Raiders have lost four of five games and it’s almost a certainty that Bisaccia won’t be the head coach once the season ends. Though the team has only had one winning season since 2002, it should be an attractive job for potential coaching candidates in the offseason. One interesting name for owner Mark Davis to ponder would be Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney. Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide were underdogs against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game but won handily. Here’s what the coach had to say after. Underdogs, overmatched, and not ready to handle Georgia. That was the narrative that Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide heard all week leading up to the SEC Championship Game. But one constant truth of college football rung true throughout the evening at Mercedes Benz Stadium: Never bet against Saban. Though the Dawgs jumped out to an early lead, it was a wholly dominant effort from Alabama on the massive stage. Bryce Young cemented his Heisman candidacy (and likely win) while the defense stifled Stetson Bennett and the UGA offense, including two picks, one of which got returned for a touchdown. The final result was a 41-24 win for the Tide that surely punches their College Football Playoff ticket and gives Saban and Bama another SEC title. Naturally, the head coach was relentlessly himself after the game talking about the victory. "Everybody wanted to gain a little respect, and I think maybe we...

Wentz is owed $25.4 million (all guaranteed) for the 2021 season and $22 million in 2022. Philly will be hit with a $33.8 million dead-cap charge for trading Wentz to Indy. That is an NFL record for largest dead-cap charge, as ESPN's Dan Graziano shared. During training camp, however, Eagles staffers saw warning signs of a potential decline, per McLane, who adds that some within the organization were concerned about passing-game coordinator Press Taylor‘s promotion. The proposition of a Pederson-Wentz-Taylor offensive power structure returning next season did not sit well with Lurie. The Eagles promoted Taylor last year but brought in...

The league sent a memo to teams, which you can read in full via this tweet from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, essentially killing the combine as we know it. There will be no mass gathering in Indianapolis, with no on-field in-person workouts happening. Any on-field workouts will happen at individual pro days on college campuses. There are always on-campus pro days, but the league says it will “work with schools to encourage consistency in testing and drills” across campuses. It will also ensure that all teams have access to video from said pro days even if they don’t attend them live. “For a...
AUSTIN, Texas (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – Texas coach Tom Herman batted away questions about his future with the program on Monday, trying to keep the focus on his players trying to win their last two games of the regular season. “I’m extremely focused on beating Kansas State, not worried about winning my way out of anything, not worried about die being cast, or anything like that,” Herman said. When pressed on whether his weekend conversations with athletic director Chris Del Conte gave him any clarity on his job status, Herman described his relationship with his boss as “great” and said the talks were focused on Saturday’s road game. Herman’s job status has become an open question now that Texas once again is left without a realistic chance for the Big 12 championship. The title drought has now stretched to 11 years, the state’s top recruits are looking elsewhere and one of the Longhorns’ best players is skipping the final two games to focus on a potential NFL career. On Wednesday, the Boston Celtics announced the continuation of one of the NBA’s longest and most successful partnerships, officially extending the contract of Head Coach Brad Stevens. The franchise revealed its renewed partnership with Stevens via a press release on Celtics.com. Per team policy, the financial terms of the 43-year-old’s extension were not released. Stevens was originally hired by the Celtics in July of 2013, which makes him the sixth-longest tenured coach in the league. He replaced the heralded Doc Rivers — who had led the Cs to an NBA championship in 2008 — when he opted to take a new job with the Los Angeles Clippers that same year. In spite of losing Rivers to the Clippers, Boston was able to regain its status as a perennial playoff club and title contender in short order under Stevens. Since coaching a rebuilding version of the squad to just 25 wins and its first failure to qualify for postseason play in seven years during his first go-round, he has directed the Celtics to five straight playoff appearances, with a sixth yet...
