Netflix has reached a deal to end its legal dispute with Georgian chess champion Nona Gaprindashvili, who said she was defamed in an episode of Queen's Gambit. The two sides informed the court on Monday that they had reached a deal in the case over the Emmy-winning series, based on a 1983 novel by the same name. A New York City woman charged with mowing down a disabled man when she sped down the sidewalk in her car was actually aiming at the sister of her 'abusive' ex-boyfriend, her lawyer said Wednesday. Alleged hit-and-run driver Kiani Phoenix, 26, was the victim of prolonged domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-lover and spent 18 months in a mental institution because of her trauma, her lawyer Melvin Kornberg told the Daily News. 'The cause of this whole situation starts with the assault on her,' the lawyer told the paper. 'She in no way intended to kill this man.' Phoenix suffered a blistering beating at the hand the boyfriend's sister when the two ran into each other in a Far Rockaway bodega Saturday morning. The sibling blamed Phoenix because police were looking for her brother. 'Had they made the arrest months ago, none of this would have ever happened,' Kornberg said. 'That's the catalyst with the fight – the fact she has these complaints against the brother.'    The hit-and-run driver wanted for mowing down a handicapped man...
