A WOMAN confessed that she chopped all of her hair off after her sister insisted that she got extensions to be a bridesmaid at her wedding. The sister reckoned her short hair was 'too attention grabbing' before the big chop. 2The sister insisted that she should get extensionsCredit: Getty - Contributor The hair hopeful shared on Reddit: "My sister is getting married soon and picked me as one of her bridesmaids. "I’ve always had short hair as I think it looks best on me but I usually keep it chin length and not shorter." However, when the sister explained that she expected her to get extensions for the day the Reddit user refused. "I told her that I won’t be getting hair extensions as I don’t like how I look with long hair and that I didn’t want to spend money on extensions that I’ll have in for one night only." Dear Amy: Many years ago, my brother missed a week of school, struggled to catch up, and then committed suicide. In a note, he explained that he got a zero on a test because it was on him to make it up, and he didn’t get around to it in time, as he was overwhelmed with makeup work. For the most part, I don’t think my parents are to blame here; they were not very strict about grades, though they did insist that we do our homework. My niece is about to start kindergarten. I told my sister that if her daughter ever falls behind, it would be best to get her out of the regular classroom until she can get totally caught up (I don’t know to what extent this is actually an option). My sister thought this sounded odd. I then realized that she likely didn’t know what led to our tragedy, as she was in college when our brother died, while I was still living at home. DEAR ABBY: My 50-year-old nephew has always used women and was finally caught embezzling $60,000 from one of them. He was arrested and ordered to pay restitution, or he would stay in prison for years. After only two weeks of incarceration, he cried and pleaded with our family and promised he would pay anyone back the money if they would pay his restitution. My sister was a wreck and came to me. I came up with the money and got a promissory note from my nephew. Long story short, he stuck my sister with every payment. When my sister went bankrupt because of it, I asked if he could at least pay $25 toward what he owed, but he did nothing. My sister finally repaid everything my nephew owed me, and now she expects us all to be one big, happy family. She has invited me and my husband to come for the holidays, which will include my nephew. I told her I will never again be in the same room with that liar and cheat, so now she’s upset...

DEAR HARRIETTE: I recently told my husband about my best friend’s affair. My husband now feels that it is his job to tell my friend’s husband about it. Harriette Cole  He promised me that he wouldn’t say anything, but he keeps mentioning it to me and telling me he feels morally obligated to say something. I told him that my friend confided in me, so he would be betraying my trust if he said anything to her husband. Should I warn my friend that my husband may say something to her husband? Betrayal DEAR BETRAYAL: The problem with secrets is that it can be almost impossible to keep them. Of course, it should be a given that secrets held between spouses should be inviolable, but you are seeing that this just isn’t always true. Same goes for secrets between best friends. This situation is already messy. I do think you should warn your friend that her secret is no longer safe with you. Meet up with her so that you can talk about this in person. Apologize for letting her...

Dear Amy: After we divorced (decades ago), at some point my ex-husband told me that he was the father of another boy (he and I have two sons). Amy Dickinson  He said the woman had used him as a “sperm donor” without his knowledge and that she wasn’t interested in him playing any role in the child’s life, nor did she want any money from him. I’ve kept his secret for a couple of decades. My sons are now 39 and 36. I’m wondering if I should tell them that they have a half-sibling, since their father clearly hasn’t? I think I’d want to know if I were in their shoes. I’m no longer on good terms with my ex, and I fear his anger if I were to ask him whether he plans to tell them. For nearly three years, the small circle of friends close to both Prince William and Prince Harry have been despairing over the searing animosity — the sheer uncompromising, bloody-minded anger — between the two Princes.  But, in April, the sad news of Prince Philip's death seemed to offer a glimmer of hope. The family gathering for their grandfather's funeral would bring the warring brothers together in an atmosphere of reflection.  Might this be the chance for some healing to develop, wondered a few of their chums?    So, without being too obvious about it, that theme of healing became an element in their friendly chats with their royal mates in the days that followed. Their friends' gentle nudges seemed to have had some effect that solemn Saturday afternoon as the two princes walked out of St George's Chapel to cross the courtyard side by side — subtly brought together by Kate, who then left the pair to the brotherly exchange of words seen on camera. For nearly three years, the small circle of friends close to both Prince William and...
The heroic young Briton who saved her twin sister from the jaws of a crocodile in Mexico insisted ‘I’m no hero’ - as she gave the clearest account yet of the horrifying attack. Georgia Laurie described how she fought off the ten-foot predator as the animal mauled her and tried to death-roll her twin Melissa – but then feared her sister was dead after she was taken under the water in a silent attack in a tropical lagoon. Georgia spoke as it emerged that while Melissa is due to be released from hospital sooner than first expected, she will not be able to fly home to Berkshire for two weeks because she has to recover from a punctured lung. The sisters had been taken to an unsafe part of the Manialtepec Lagoon - a coastal lagoon about 18 km west of Puerto Escondido in the State of Oaxaca - where crocodiles were nesting by an unlicensed tourist guide on June 6. He had assured them it was safe and the sisters were swimming with two friends when Georgia spotted the...

By Melissa Alonso, CNN Police officers were in for a shock when they responded to an early Wednesday morning traffic accident in Utah between a four-door sedan and a semi-truck. The driver and passenger in the car were both children. Officers arrived at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday “and discovered the person behind the wheel was a 9-year-old girl,” the West Valley City Police Department said in a Facebook post. “The young girl and her 4-year-old sister apparently snagged the keys to the family car while their parents were sleeping,” police said. “The girls drove about 10 miles from their home in West Jordan” and managed to get on a highway and a freeway approaching West Valley City, said the post. Before exiting the freeway, the car hopped a median and slammed “head-on into a semi truck,” said police. A video clip of the crash scene taken from an officer’s body-worn camera was released by West Valley City police. It shows the front end of the red sedan crushed, wedged against a semi-truck, which appeared to have been pulling two...
An American-born, bilingual Muslim woman wearing a hijab was forced to move from a Southwest Airlines exit row seat after a flight attendant told her she 'couldn't speak English' and 'would bring the whole plane down in an emergency.' The woman - referred to only by her first name Fatima - and her sister spoke Arabic when they boarded the plane from Fort Lauderdale to Dallas on May 22, after seeing their mom in hospital. That's when they were approached by the flight attendant who reportedly told Fatima to move.  The sisters switched to English, which they speak fluently, and tried to reason with the steward,' Fatima's lawyer Marwa Elbially said. But the staff member would not change her mind and allegedly told them, 'It doesn't matter.' To make the issue worse, the flight attendant said Fatima had to move but allowed her sister, who wasn't wearing a hijab, to sit in the seat, Elbially said.  'The hardest part was keeping my composure for three hours after being insulted,' Fatima said.   Fatima (left) takes the podium, next to her sister, as...
