Joe Raedle/Getty Images It might actually be good for former President Donald Trump to have the country’s nuclear codes at home, his son Donald Trump Jr. argued on Monday. At a campaign event for Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Trump Jr. blasted the FBI’s raid of his father’s Mar-a-Lago property. Authorities were looking for allegedly classified documents and reports have suggested some documents could be nuclear-related. Trump has denied having classified documents and called the search warrant “prosecutorial misconduct.” While accusing the media of fear-mongering, Trump Jr. said America’s enemies may be less inclined to attack if Trump was in charge of the nukes. “By the way, for the record, I’d say that if Donald Trump actually still had the nuclear codes, it’d probably be good,” he said. “Our enemies might actually be like, ‘ok, maybe let’s not mess with them,’ unlike when they look at Joe Biden and they say, ‘you know what, we should attack now.'” “If Donald Trump actually still had the nuclear codes, it’d probably be good.” — Donald Trump Jr. with the latest Republican defense of...
The United States would use force to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon if all else fails, President Joe Biden warned on Wednesday. The president was asked in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 News whether he would use the military to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power, and he responded, “If it’s the last resort, yes.” IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL FACES UNCERTAIN FUTURE AS TEHRAN SELLS WEAPONS TO RUSSIA Biden landed in Israel on Wednesday as part of his first trip to the Middle East since he took office and amid his administration’s attempts to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, from which the Trump administration withdrew in 2018. There is a deal on the table that Iran has yet to accept, according to an administration official. "I do want to add, though, Brianna, that we continue to want to see a nuclear deal that takes Iran’s nuclear ambitions, at least nuclear weapons ambition, off the table,” John Kirby, National Security Council coordinator, said in a CNN interview on Tuesday. “And there is a deal actually on the table,...
VIDEO2:2602:26Force a 'last resort' in Taiwan reunification: former PLA officerSquawk Box Asia BEIJING — The central Chinese government in Beijing would only use force as the "last resort" for Taiwan reunification, said a retired officer of the People's Liberation Army. "The Chinese PLA is getting stronger and stronger, and we have geographical proximity," said Zhou Bo, now a senior fellow at Tsinghua University's Center for International Strategy and Security Studies. "That does not suggest we would use force easily because that would be the last resort," he said Tuesday on CNBC's "Squawk Box Asia." "We have the most sincere wishes to be reunited with our compatriots in Taiwan through peaceful means." Taiwan is a democratically self-ruled island that Beijing considers part of its territory. On Monday, U.S. President Joe Biden said he would be willing to use military force to defend Taiwan, an apparent break from Washington's tradition of remaining intentionally vague over whether the U.S. would come to the island's aid if China invaded. Biden and the White House subsequently said those comments did not reflect a policy shift.VIDEO3:0803:08Former...
A chilling note warned a British estate agent that he would end up 'in a body bag' a year before he was shot dead in front of his teenage daughter in Mexico.   Chris Cleave, 54, was driving though the city of Cancun when he was ambushed and shot in the head by two men through the driver's side window at the popular tourist resort.  His 14-year-old daughter was not hit but taken to hospital and treated for shock and minor injuries. The two men have since been pictured and named as 30-year-old Jose N and 18-year-old Lenin N.  It comes as a man thought to be Mr Cleave and two other men were named in a so-called 'narcomanta' in an upmarket beach area of Playa del Carmen called Playacar - known for its upmarket residential villas and luxury golf club.  The narcomanta, a message on a cloth banner left by a drug cartel, was erected in the early hours of March 5 last year. It was signed by Comandante Cobra, who vowed to turn the luxury community into a 'prison' for 'red...
Russia has warned it will resort to 'military means' if the West does not bow to its demands over Ukraine and says US sanctions against President Vladimir Putin would 'cross a line', after NATO's chief said there is 'a real risk for armed conflict.'  The Kremlin warned that by introducing sanctions against Putin, the US could see relations between the countries severed. 'Introducing sanctions against a head of state is crossing a line and comparable to a rupture of ties,' Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today. Meeting senior Kremlin envoys at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Western ambassadors unanimously rejected Moscow's demands for a guarantee that Ukraine will never be admitted to the group. The Kremlin also demanded that NATO rule out allowing Finland or Georgia to join the alliance, and for NATO to pull back from the ex-Soviet states that were brought into the group in 1997 - eight years after the Berlin wall fell. Meanwhile, the European Union's foreign policy chief said on Thursday that Europe had received assurances from the United States that nothing will be agreed with Russia...

I'd decided to visit Kamalaya in December during what would have been, in an ordinary year, the beginning of the resort's busy season. Vincent Vichit-Vadakan / Insider Kamalaya is a resort built on the site of a sacred hermit retreat on the island of Samui in Thailand. I'm a wellness newbie who's waved away words like "holistic" and "self care" for their crunchy-granola vagueness. But in December, partially as a response to COVID-era stress, I decided to give the resort a try. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. As soon as I walked into my color therapy session, I was sure I'd made a mistake.  It was the first day of a week-long stay I'd booked at Kamalaya, a wellness retreat located on an idyllic stretch of beach on Thailand's Samui Island. The resort is sought after for its programs that claim to enhance body and spirit. It's where a certain international set flies in on private jets to drop thousands of dollars a day on treatments, and here I was being asked to pick a pair...
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho business owner has announced plans to transform a former drive-in movie theatre in Idaho Falls into a recreational vehicle resort catering to short-term rentals. Zach Teichert purchased the former Sky Vu Theatre and expects it to reopen as a RV resort by late 2021, the Post Register reported. “Each spot will be paved and most will be larger pull-through sites. We will have a general store, bathrooms, laundry room, and pickleball courts for our guests,” Teichert said. “It’s close to the I-15 and that area is continuing to be developed." Teichert noted that Idaho Falls is the last major town on the way to Yellowstone and Jackson, Wyoming. “The tourism and travel industry in Idaho Falls continues to grow and help stimulate the economy and we believe an RV park like this can help as well," Teichert said. The Sky Vu Theatre first opened as a 500-car drive-in movie theater in 1950 and continued operating until 2015. Much of the equipment is being offered to the community for free, including a movie screen,...

The newspaper, citing three people with knowledge of the situation, reported Tuesday that Johnson's deputy, Lewis Lukens, advised him not to raise the idea but Johnson decided to nonetheless, running the idea by David Mundell, Scotland's then-secretary of State. A statement from Downing Street obtained by the newspaper said that the U.S. diplomat “made no request of Mr. Mundell regarding the British Open or any other sporting event." Dr. Faucis wake-up call to my med school class (opinion) McDonalds will stop reopening restaurants for 21 days as COVID-19 cases spike across America Penn State AD: Football in the spring “would be a last resort” College football has plowed ahead of its professional brethren, with players returning to campuses — and many of them quickly catching COVID-19. Replay Video SETTINGS OFF HD HQ SD LO Skip Ad So the decision-makers at that level are a bit ahead of the NFL, and have recently been forced to consider some drastic alternatives. Via Heather Dinich of ESPN.com, Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour said that playing in the spring “would be a last resort.” “One of the biggest challenges [of a spring season] — and it’s probably the biggest one in my mind — is the proximity to next season, and frankly a second lost spring ball,” Barbour said. “Overcomeable, if perhaps we’re willing to have a shortened season — again in the category of ‘something is better than nothing,’ that may not be a problem at all.” Barbour presides over...
By BRIAN MAFFLY, The Salt Lake Tribune SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A sprawling network of camping resorts soon could begin unfolding in the Kolob highlands on Zion National Park’s northern boundary, potentially resulting in an influx of overnight use in a remote and scenic part of southern Utah. Late last year, Ian Crowe, a St. George real estate broker, filed applications with Washington County officials to develop up to nearly 3,000 camping sites, including yurts, tents, vintage trailers, shipping containers, even treehouses, near Kolob Reservoir and the park’s Lava Point, about 25 miles up the winding Kolob Terrace Road from the town of Virgin. But the project was largely kept under wraps until about a month ago, when a Kolob property owner named Justin Heideman saw a small notice posted by a road, announcing a May 12 hearing before the Washington County Planning Commission. “Everyone feels this is pretty sneaky in the way it was done,” said Heideman, a St. George lawyer who had been hunting turkeys near his family’s property at Kolob Reservoir when he saw the sign...
Donald Trump will not be following New Jersey’s rule that out-of-staters must quarantine for 14 days after entering the state from coronavirus hotspots, with the White House saying the president does not have to abide by the newly instituted measure because he “is not a civilian.” As CNBC reported, the surge in coronavirus cases across a number of largely southern states has led New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to institute a joint order requiring those who come in from out of state hot spots to quarantine for two weeks. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo had hinted in recent weeks that the state may put the measure in place as cases start to rise, while New York has been on the decline for both positive cases and deaths. Trump has planned a visit to New Jersey this weekend to his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey. The White House said on Wednesday that Trump would not be changing his plans for this weekend’s visit, and would not be abiding by the state’s order. “The president of the United States is...
