But it was only after they had bought the house that they learned of the home's haunted history after a deep-dive online. "Literally that evening when our realtor called us and told us we got it, I Googled it - and that I think I screamed," Witt told NPR. In 1949 a 14-year-old boy was said to be possessed by a demon in the Maryland home, the Washington Post reported. From reports at the time, a Catholic priest is said to have performed an exorcism on the boy who had been supposedly possessed....

WHILE many cannot wait for The Exorcist to return to cinema screens, the cast and crew will be praying history doesn’t repeat itself after real-life horrors plagued the original film. Universal Pictures is due to announce their reboot to the demon possession flick, with a trilogy deal reportedly worth $465million (£335m). 6Cinemagoers gasped, cowered and some vomited while watching The ExorcistCredit: Alamy 6The 1973 horror classic starred Linda Blair as possessed child Regan MacNeil (above)Credit: Kobal Collection - Shutterstock The original 1973 film caused quite the stir and saw terrified cinemagoers vomiting and fainting – one woman broke her jaw after she passed out. One thing director David Gordon Green, who headed the Halloween reboots, will hope to avoid is the series of unfortunate events that followed the first Exorcist. Several surprising incidents led to claims that the film was “cursed” – and after deaths, a freak fire and injuries on set, many would agree. Deaths & the 'curse' The deaths of at least four people have been linked to the film and some believe this is proof of The...
An exorcist has warned a Wisconsin woman that her creepy-looking cat is possessed by a demon and should be caged and prayed over.   Alyson Kalhagen, from Green Bay, was contacted after posting pictures of her cat Pixel online, intending to show off his 'beauty and refinement'. The wide-eyed Cornish Rex with protruding fangs instead caused alarm and Kalhagen, 39, said she was soon bombarded with messages from people afraid of her cat, which has been likened to a 'sleep paralysis demon'. The mother-of-one said most people are just curious about two-year-old Pixel's 'unique looks' but that some comments came from a 'place of real fear and hesitation'. One such message was from an exorcist who told Kalhagen that a demon was using her pet as a 'puppet' and instructing her to keep Pixel  caged and pray 'over and over' in front of him to get the demon out. Dr Richard Gallagher, a board certified psychiatrist and avowed 'man of science' details his journey from skeptic to believer in a new book, Demonic Foes. As a consulting doctor to the Vatican he says: 'I think I have seen more cases of possession than any other physician in the world' 'Exorcist' is an unlikely job title for an academic physician but for Dr. Richard Gallagher- it was a profession that happened entirely by accident. The Yale-trained, board-certified psychiatrist from New York who currently sits on the faculty at New York Medical College and Columbia University is a self- avowed 'man of science.'  He has spent the last forty years of his illustrious medical career racking up credentials as a doctor who specializes in personality disorders and psychopharmacology. Needless to say, the veteran psychiatrist felt 'deeply skeptical' when an unexpected visitor, dressed in head-to-toe clerical garb, showed up at his office in the early 1990s asking for help. The priest wanted Gallagher's psychiatric opinion about a woman who claimed that she was being attacked by evil spirits. Despite being...
