A Brazilian man who shoved a dumbbell in his rectum needed to get it yanked out by surgeons.  The unidentified 54-year-old waited two days before seeking medical attention after failing to extract the 2kg metal weight himself. He turned up to a hospital in Manaus complaining of abdominal pain, nausea and being unable to defecate.  After an examination of his rectal region found no sign of what might be causing his symptoms, doctors ordered an X-ray of his abdomen. Medics — who suggested the unusual case was of a 'sexual nature' — said the man was 'uncooperative' during the physical examination.  The X-ray revealed a dumbbell, which was almost 8 inches long (20cm), was lodged where the colon meets the rectum.  Medics sedated the man for their attempted extraction involving surgical tweezers, but couldn't remove the dumbbell.  Left with no other option, the team opted for the 'manual extraction', involving the surgeon shoving in their 'forearm'.  A 54-year-old Brazilian got a 20cm dumbbell stuck inside his rectum after inserting it for sexual pleasure  Attempts by surgeons  to remove the object with...

If we were confronted in our gardens by a 6ft 4in airman armed with a pistol, most of us would be tempted to turn and run. But when farmer's wife Evelyn Cardwell spotted a German who was parachuting onto her land after his Junkers 88 was shot down by the crew of a Hurricane in the Second World War, she marched towards him and told him to put his hands up. The story of the woman's incredible bravery in July 1940, which saw her rewarded with an MBE by King George VI, is recounted in book Faces of the Home Front 1939-1945, by historians Neil Storey and Fiona Kay.  With her husband away, Mrs Cardwell, 45, who was only 5ft 8in, had at first tried to call the authorities when she saw the German soldier in the sky above her home in the village of Aldborough, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, but then discovered the phone did not work. Instead, she told one of her farmhands to go on his bicycle and alert the police, whilst she plucked up...

As the chauffeur-driven Mercedes-Maybach purred to a halt, the genial offering of a lift came from the open back window. The voice belonged to Michael Fawcett, Prince Charles's closest aide, who was reclining in the cosseted walnut and leather luxury of the rear passenger seat. The scene was Tokyo where almost two years ago Fawcett, now 58, had accompanied his royal boss, representing the Queen at the enthronement of Japan's new emperor, Naruhito. Old friends: Prince Charles and Michael Fawcett at the Christmas Shoot at Sandringham in 1992 But while the prince was an esteemed guest at the traditional tea ceremony and other solemn rituals of the coronation, his indispensable 'Mr Fixit' had other business to attend to. Yet the fact that the prince's one-time manservant was being chauffeured around the Japanese capital in one of the world's most exclusive – and expensive – production cars, prompted barely a raised eyebrow. Such has been the rise (and rise) of the man of whom Charles once said: 'I can manage without just about anyone, except for Michael.' RELATED ARTICLES ...

'They put people at risk even though you put yourself at risk from the moment you put yourself in their hands. One does not know if they will arrive with their family member or not.' Her...
Daunte Wright was 'an arch criminal' whose death at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis is being used to push 'false narratives', according to a lawyer representing the victims of two separate shootings the black man is accused of being involved in. Attorney Michael Padden told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview that the 20-year-old was a 'very serious criminal' who should never have been out on the streets on April 11, the day he was shot dead.  Padden is representing two families who have filed separate lawsuits against Wright's estate that allege he was involved in the shooting of two men. In one incident, Wright is accused of shooting Caleb Livingston - who he went to school with - in the head in 2019, leaving him in a permanently vegetative state.   In the other, Wright was allegedly involved in a carjacking just three weeks before his death where the victim - Joshua Hodges - was shot in the leg.   Wright was not charged in either shooting incident and police have not confirmed if he was a suspect in either...

The local paper's front page story reported that the Roswell Army field recovered a flying saucer on a New Mexico Ranch after metallic-looking, light but strong material was scattered across the land.  'The intelligence office of the 509th Bombardment Group at Roswell Army Air Field announced at noon today, that the field has come into the possession of a Flying Saucer,' Roswell Daily Record reported on July 8, 1947. The statement was given by Jesse Marcel Sr. who was the first on the scene and led the investigation, which he determined were pieces from an extraterrestrial vehicle. However, shortly after the 'UFO' discovery made headlines, the War Department in Washington released a statement claiming the debris was the remains of a weather balloon.  The US Air Force stated the weather balloon was part Project...

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – When 22-year-old Darryl Hawkins died, the one thing everyone seemed to mention was how close he and his sister were. “We were very tight,” said Madelyn Clark. His death in 2017 was sudden, tragic, and all over the news. Darryl Hawkins (credit: Facebook) Hawkins was one of eight people killed at a party in Plano, when the homeowner’s estranged husband showed up and started shooting. “We still think about him every day. We love him,” she said. Last year, she posted on his Facebook page, “Miss you, big brother.” She was surprised, Wednesday, when her post got a response. “We were wondering, is this real?” she said. In North Richland Hills, Linda Pierce, an employee in police department’s property room, had wondered for years about a class ring. In 2018, a year after Hawkins’ death, it had been found on a suspect along with other stolen items. “It meant something to someone,” she said. No one had claimed the ring, though, and as part of standard procedure, it was eventually scheduled to be destroyed....

Police body camera footage was released Wednesday of the moment a 22-year-old California man on his knees was shot dead by a 'Fatal 14' officer who fired from the backseat of a moving vehicle while responding to reports of looting. The footage of the June 2 incident was officially released by the Vallejo Police Department after the family of Sean Monterrosa, 22, was allowed to view the recordings.  But the video does not show any of the minutes leading up to shooting, sparking more questions than answers for the victim's family after weeks pleading. 'It was quite surprising and shocking to us that there was no video of the actual shooting itself,' John Burris, an attorney for Monterrosa's family, said at a news conference, NBC News reports.  Burris also pointed out that the department changed their account of Monterrosa's actions before the shooting, did not reveal the death for 24 hours and lack a full video evidence.  San Francisco native Sean Monterrosa (left) was shot dead by a officer with the Vallejo Police Department, identified by local reports as Detective Jarrett Tonn,...
The protests against police abuse returned to Los Angeles yesterday, supported by the death of a young Hispanic security guard who was shot by bailiffs in this city on Thursday night, continuing the protests initiated by the death of George Floyd. The national rejection of the excessive use of force by local authorities when it comes to arrests of minorities took a new impetus in Los Angeles, after the incident that took the life of Andrés Guardado, who died on June 18. Los Angeles lived for almost two weeks a wave of protests after the death of Floyd...
