A COUPLE had a near miss when a boulder crashed through their hotel roof — just yards from their door. Adam Molyneux-Downs, 49, was woken by “an almighty smash” that shook the building. 4A dad has told of his miracle escape after a boulder came crashing into his hotel - just yards from his door 4He leaped up into clouds of dust, thinking there 'had been an earthquake' but instead saw a whopping 4ft-wide 1-tonne rock lying out 4The red-skinned Brit grumpily dismisses the rock as a "f****** boulda" before hilariously telling his partner: 'Don't worry about this darling - it's nothing' He leapt out of bed into clouds of dust, thinking there had been an earthquake, to find a 4ft-wide, two-ton rock lying outside. It had come loose from a cliff overlooking the hotel after heavy rain. Adam said: “The whole building shook. Everywhere was full of smoke. “We couldn’t open our doorway because the whole building had been warped by the impact. The camera operator during Thursday night’s Yankees-Red Sox game had everyone convinced Aaron Judge had just tied Roger Maris’ home run record. Everything was set up for Aaron Judge, the Yankees and the MLB world. You couldn’t have scripted it better. It was the bottom of the ninth in a tie game between bitter rivals. Judge came to the plate with a chance to hit his 61st home run of the season and walk off a playoffs-clinching victory. He swung. He made sweet contact. The ball soared high through the air. The crowd erupted. The broadcasters raised their voices. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the camera work, which didn’t exactly track the high fly ball until it was landing harmlessly in the glove of Red Sox outfielder Enrique Hernadez. Apparently, people just say it to her all the time. Warren’s revelation comes from NBC News’ Ali Vitali’s new book, Electable: Why America Hasn’t Put a Woman in the White House … Yet, which contains accounts around the 2020 election cycle, including comments from Democrats like Warren and Hillary Clinton. An excerpt from the book was published on Friday by Politico. Warren made the comment while in campaigning mode during the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. According to Vitali: We’d talked about the dynamics of Iowa, her competitors and the pressure she put on herself not “to screw this up.” But here and now she offered her plainest view of the landscape yet: “Everyone comes up to me and says, ‘I would vote for you, if you had a penis.'” According to the book, these voters are just as brazen in their comments to Warren’s staff. Sandra Garza, the partner of fallen Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, did not mince words in her criticism for Donald Trump, telling CNN Newsroom’s Jim Acosta that the former president is directly responsible for the death of Sicknick and everyone else who died during or in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Sicknick died from a series of strokes he suffered after being brutally assaulted by rioters as he and other officers attempted to defend the Capitol. Several other officers died by suicide shortly thereafter, traumatized by their experiences. Trump continues to poll very highly among GOP primary voters as their top choice for the Republican presidential nomination for 2024, and has been giving speeches at rallies and conservative events around the country, continuing to rant about his baseless claims that he lost the 2020 election due to election fraud and other misrepresentations. At a speech last week in Nashville, he once again floated the idea of issuing pardons to the Jan. 6 rioters if he is re-elected. Trump “did not just try to diminish...
Well, Hallelujah. The prodigal son and his wife finally rejoined the Royal Family in public yesterday – and everyone found something to laugh about. While the absence of the Queen from her own national service of thanksgiving had taken some of the shine off proceedings at St Paul’s Cathedral, the Archbishop of York, the Most Revd Stephen Cottrell, used his sermon to address the Sovereign as if she was there – knowing full well that she was watching on television. And he hit just the right tone as he used an equestrian analogy to sum up our horse-mad monarch’s record-breaking reign. Noting that the scriptures describe life as a race – and that we were just a day away from the Derby – the Archbishop observed: ‘Your long reign reflects the distance of Aintree more than the sprint of Epsom.’ He went on: ‘Your Majesty, we are sorry that you are not here with us this morning. But we are so glad that you are still in the saddle. And we are glad that there is still more to come....

A WOMAN who erected a 12ft giant clown in her front garden much to delight of locals has slammed killjoy councillors who made her take it down. Tanya Stevens, of Noosa, Australia, proudly displayed the colourful character outside her home after discovering Moscow Circus was coming to town. 1Tanya Stevens set up the 12ft inflatable clown named Karl in her garden in honour of the Moscow Circus But a Queensland council launched a crackdown on the jesters, warning Tanya she could be fined for flaunting her 12ft inflatable clown called Karl. The circus fan claimed the clown had been welcomed by locals during the five days it was exhibited in honour of the admired entertainers. Yet sadly, Karl had to be deflated after councillors informed her the display was actually in breach of Noosa Shire Council bylaws. Tanya told local TV show A Current Affair: "The circus people approached me again and they were like, 'the clown has got to, it's got to come down, and I'm like 'oh no, why'." In the wake of the Novak Djokovic controversy, tennis fans were treated to the messiest Australian Open in memory. It started in a courtroom. As Novak Djokovic was granted a vaccine exception to play by Tennis Australia; and then detained in the Melbourne airport; and then released by a judge and finally deported for good by a panel of adjudicators — major media outlets not usually in the business of covering men’s singles tennis turned their eyes towards Melbourne. What they found, in the Djokovic story, was a dramatic saga with familiar plotlines. Novak, like many others before him in the past 12 months, served as an easy avatar for our roiling political and cultural discontents. Everyone retreated very quickly to their corners, learning perhaps too much about a capricious Australian bureaucracy. When Djokovic was deported on the eve of the tournament, a lot of the media circus left town with him. What was left for them — namely, tennis — was not, on first blush, such a simple or familiar story. People who tuned out the men’s singles’ bracket...

Before the ball dropped in Times Square and the cork shot out of the neon champagne bottle in Miami, Pete Davidson took the stage to vamp for a few minutes before Miley Cyrus and the rest of the hosts of their New Year special returned for the countdown. He took a minute to reflect on what a great year it was … in 2009. The show, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, was a pretty good mix of planned comedy, some improv hosting from its stars, and music selected and mostly performed by Miley Cyrus, along with stars Saweetie, Anitta, Brandi Carlile, Jack Harlow, and Miley’s sister Noah Cyrus. Plus a few well-handled glitches. Co-host Davidson did several stand-up style bits during the show, including his just-before-midnight reflection on better days. “Well, it’s been fun looking back on 2021, but I think we can all agree it was kind of a weird year, right?” said Davidson. “So you know what we could do is recap another year. Like 2009.” “2009 was so dope. We didn’t have anything to worry about at...
IT was a weird and wonderful sporting year which served up a fairytale in New York, a robbery in Abu Dhabi, the Ghost Games of Tokyo and the familiar agony of penalty shootout defeat for England. The year began with fans being sorely missed, as the behind-closed-doors era dragged on. 8Emma Radacanu stunning the sporting world by claiming the US Open titleCredit: Reuters 8Adam Peaty played a part in Team GB's gold rush in Tokyo in the summerCredit: PA Then football supporters were lauded for their leading role in smashing the hated breakaway European Super League. But as stadiums began to fill, England was shamed by a drink-and-drugs-fuelled mob which severely tarnished the national team’s first major tournament final in 55 years. The vandalism at Wembley before that Euros final defeat by Italy was as depressing as the breathtaking arrogance of 12 clubs — including the Premier League’s Big Six — threatening to shred the fabric of football with their roped-off Super League. The scheme met with revulsion and ridicule, as it was torpedoed in little more than 48 hours...

A WOMAN shared her new tattoo depicting a stack of rocks - but commenters agree it looks like something else altogether. A tattoo-shaming group on Facebook was left in stitches when members saw this woman’s tattoo.  1The tattoo is supposed to look like a stack of rocks The ink is supposed to depict a cairn, which is a man made stack of rocks often used to symbolise that you are on the right path. Unfortunately, most people who saw the tattoo didn’t pick up on the deeper meaning behind the tattoo. In fact, almost everyone who saw it thought it looked like a stack of poo. “Can someone tell whoever produced this pile of poop that they should eat more fiber or something”, joked one commenter, while a second said: “My dog pooped a stack like that once!” A third wrote: “When u eat to much cheese and feel like you’re s****ing gravel the next day. Donald Trump Jr. spoke to Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and recalled the sense of unity Americans had after the tragedy — something he says has now “disappeared.” The eldest Trump son, reflecting on that tragic day, said he was in Colorado at the time after graduating college and business school the year before, taking a year off and living out West in the mountains. He recalled getting into the car and hearing the news and explained that the moment effectively ended his time “abroad” in the West. “I got in the car, you know, two days later drove home” to New York, he said. “And for the first time not seeing those towers, there was a pretty somber time, but what was interesting about it sort of, what seems to be missing, again was the sense of unity that everyone had after that period of time,” Trump Jr. observed. “I mean New York, a place that’s known to sort of be, you know, aggressive, rough harsh place, you know, people don’t have the courtesy that...

On Thursday’s “CNN Newsroom,” HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra defended his prior comments that it’s the government’s business to know whether or not people are vaccinated by stating, “we’ve spent trillions of dollars. We had to prevent people from coming into our country. We have had to ask everyone to mask up and to stay home.” CNN Senior National Correspondent Sara Sidner asked, “You had said to CNN itself, it is absolutely the government’s business, it’s the taxpayers’ business if we have to continue to spend money to try to keep people from contracting COVID, then we should be able to know exactly whether or not you are vaccinated. And there was a huge backlash to that. Do you regret those comments or would you like to revise what you said?” Becerra responded, “Listen, we’ve spent trillions of dollars. We had to prevent people from coming into our country. We have had to ask everyone to mask up and to stay home. On Tuesday morning, Wally Funk finally made it to space, six decades after she and the other women of the Mercury 13 were cut off from the possibility of becoming astronauts by a government policy that was deeply and inflexibly misogynistic. Oh, and she took Jeff Bezos along. Blue Origin’s “New Shepard” rocket carried Bezos, his brother, aviation pioneer Funk, and a Dutch 18-year-old whose billionaire hedge fund manager father paid for his ticket. The rocket was well-named in that its flight was an approximation of that carried out by Alan Shepard when he became the first American in space in 1961. Except … not quite. Shepard reached an altitude of 116 miles and finished 300 miles downrange. New Shepard just went straight up for 65 miles and 10 minutes later it dropped its passengers a short walk from where they took off. A week earlier, British billionaire Richard Branson joined two pilots and four other crew members for a flight of Virgin Galactic’s VSS Unity space plane. In that flight, Branson and company were carried to 50,000 feet with their craft strapped to the belly of a giant jet....
