Harris, 22, initially pled not guilty to the charges after being arrested in September of 2020. Harris and prosecutors reached a plea deal in February of this year for Harris to plead guilty to one count of receiving child pornography and one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illegal sexual conduct with a minor, asking that the remaining charges be dropped. The charges that the former cheerleader did not plead guilty to as part of the plea deal include four counts of sexual exploitation of minors and one count of enticement.     CHICAGO (AP) — A prosecutor has asked a federal judge to sentence Jerry Harris, a former star of the Netflix documentary series “Cheer,” to 15 years in prison for coercing teenage boys to send him obscene photos and videos of themselves and soliciting sex from minors at cheerleading competitions. Attorneys for Harris are seeking a sentence of six years. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Guzman wrote in a sentencing memo late Wednesday that Harris used “his status as a competitive cheerleader, his social media persona, and eventually his celebrity and money, to persuade and entice his young victims to engage in sexually explicit conduct for him or with him.” Guzman also requested the sentence include 10 years of supervised release after the prison term.     CHICAGO (AP) — Jerry Harris, former star of the Netflix documentary series “Cheer,” pleaded guilty Thursday to federal charges of receiving child pornography and soliciting sex from minors that could keep him in prison for decades. During a change of plea hearing in federal court in Chicago, Harris pleaded guilty to one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and one count of receiving child pornography, a U.S. attorney’s office spokesman said. Harris, 22, pleaded guilty to two of seven felony counts against him, one for persuading a 17-year-old to send him sexually explicit photographs for money and the other stemming from a trip he took to Florida for the purpose of “engaging in illicit sexual conduct” with a 15-year-old. Prosecutors agreed to drop the remaining five counts under a plea agreement.     The death of previously reported missing Millersville University student and former child actor Matthew Mindler has been ruled a suicide, according to the Lancaster County Coroner. Mindler, 19, of Hellerstown, was last seen leaving his residence hall, West Villages, heading toward the Centennial Drive parking lot on Tuesday around 8:00 p.m., as Daily Voice reported at the time. He was found dead in a wooded area near the parking lot by Shenks Lane close to Crossgates Golf Club in Manor Township on Saturday.     FORMER MMA fighter Travis Fulton was found unresponsive in his jail cell on Saturday in an apparent suicide by hanging. Fulton was being held in a Cedar Rapids, Iowa jail.
