Raiders injury:

latest news at page 1:
Getty Blake Martinez tackling Russell Wilson. Though the Las Vegas Raiders are 0-2 to start the season, the winless beginning isn’t entirely on the defense. Heading into the season, there was concern that a questionable defense could sink what should be a high-powered offense. Through two games, the offense has been worse than the defense. However, injuries are beginning to pile up. Starting cornerback Anthony Averett is already on the Injured Reserve and linebacker Denzel Perryman missed Week 2 with an ankle injury. The team is getting thin at linebacker with two undrafted rookies on the active roster. It appears the team is interested in bringing in some veteran depth. According to The Score’s Jordan Schultz, the Raiders are bringing in linebacker Blake Martinez for a visit. FA LB Blake Martinez is visiting the #Raiders tomorrow, per source. As I reported Tuesday, Martinez visited the #Ravens as well. Should he sign with Las Vegas, he’d reunite with Patrick Graham — his former DC with the #Giants. pic.twitter.com/BguqUWKNiW — Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) September 22, 2022 Notably, Martinez spent the...
Getty Baltimore Ravens cornerback T.J. Carrie scores a touchdown during a November 2020 game. The Baltimore Ravens signed former Indianapolis Colts cornerback T.J. Carrie to their practice squad on Wednesday after placing cornerback Kyle Fuller on injured reserve the day before, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh revealed on Monday that Fuller tore his ACL during Baltimore’s Week 1 matchup with the New York Jets, ending his season. With Marcus Peters still working his way back to full strength after his 2021 ACL tear, the Ravens are looking for more cornerback depth behind Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stephens and two rookies – Jalyn Armour-Davis and Damarion Williams. Their first choice is likely veteran Kevon Seymour, who is currently on the practice squad, but he’s still recovering from an ankle sprain. “It’s not going to be a week, it could be a few weeks,” said Harbaugh on August 29. “But we’ll have him sometime early in the season.”  Instead, they could turn to Carrie, an eight-year veteran with 54 starts and 118 appearances across stints...
Ethan Miller/Getty Images Wide receiver Tyron Johnson of the Los Angeles Chargers scores a touchdown against cornerback Daryl Worley of the Las Vegas Raiders on December 17, 2020. In a roster move that was not at all unexpected, the Baltimore Ravens signed cornerback Daryl Worley on Monday. The seventh-year vet was one of three corners that the team worked out on Sunday. Worley, 27, is a 2016 third-round pick of the Carolina Panthers who was with the Ravens during the latter portion of last season, having originally signed to the team’s practice squad on December 21, 2021. He went on to play in one game — Baltimore’s 41-21 loss at Cincinnati — a contest in which he played 83% of the defensive snaps and was credited with five tackles, as per the team’s official website. The Ravens are Worley’s sixth NFL team, having previously played for the Panthers (2016-17), Raiders (2018-19, 2020), Bills (2020), Cowboys (2020) and Lions (2021). To date he has appeared in 70 career games (with 54 starts) and has recorded 272...
Getty Kevin King intercepting pass against Raiders. Despite missing on a few big names in free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders appear happy with their current crop of cornerbacks. Trayvon Mullen is recovering from an injury currently but is expected to be on the starters. The team traded for Rock Ya-Sin from the Indianapolis Colts this offseason, and he figures to be the other starter. Mullen and Ya-Sin were second-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft but both have struggled to live up to their draft status. Mullen has dealt with injury issues and so has Ya-Sin. They both have big-time potential but it could be risky for the Raiders to rely on them. If the team is having second thoughts about their cornerbacks, they could look to free agency as there are some good options still available. ESPN recently pegged the Raiders as the best fit for former Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King: An injury limited King to 10 games in Green Bay last season, but he’s a long corner with coverage traits. And he has...
Getty Las Vegas Raiders RB Sincere Mccormick. This offseason has been smooth sailing for the Las Vegas Raiders so far. General manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels appear to draw much less attention than the previous regime led by Jon Gruden. That’s good news for the football side of things. However, the team did get some bad news during organized team activities. The Raiders are loaded at running back with Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake returning and the addition of Zamir White in the draft. Despite all of that talent, the team picked up an interesting undrafted free agent in Sincere McCormick. The former UTSA running back broke all kinds of school records, including for rushing yards and touchdowns. Unfortunately, his chances of making an NFL roster could be put on hold. The Raiders announced that McCormick has been placed on the Reserve/Injured List. Getty Las Vegas Raiders CB Trayvon Mullen. With Dave Ziegler and Josh McDaniels now running the show for the Las Vegas Raiders, there could be some big changes. Neither man has any attachment to the players on the current roster, even if they were a high draft pick. The team has had some really bad whiffs in the draft over recent years so there could be some high-profile names who get let go. Cornerback is a position group that Ziegler will need to attack this offseason. Casey Hayward was the Raiders’ best cornerback in 2021 but he’s a free agent. He could re-sign but that’s not a guarantee. Despite the need at the position, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes that the team needs to cut 2019 second-round pick Trayvon Mullen: With Mullen largely out of the lineup this past season, the Raiders secondary was solid. Las Vegas ranked 13th in passing yards allowed and eighth in yards per attempt allowed. We’re in another situation where the incoming front office will see that it can succeed without a...
CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi was carted off the field with an injury to his right foot in the third quarter of the AFC playoff game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Later in the quarter, Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson was being evaluated for a concussion with his return questionable. Ogunjobi and Hendrickson were involved in a key play in the first half, with Ogunjobi recovering a fumble after Hendrickson’s strip-sack of Derek Carr. Bengals defensive tackle Mike Daniels injured his groin in the first quarter and did not return. Raiders linebacker Divine Deablo left in the second quarter with a possible concussion, moments after being beaten by Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah on a 29-yard pass play. Raiders defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson hurt his foot, and cornerback Brandon Fayson was ruled out with a concussion in the second half. ___ More AP NFL coverage: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL and https://twitter.com/AP_NFL Copyright © 2022 The Associated Press. Darren Waller will try to help the Las Vegas Raiders win their first playoff game since the 2002 season. Waller, one of the top tight ends in the NFL, missed a few games with knee and back issues and couldn’t help Las Vegas secure a playoff spot sooner. He missed games between Week 13 and Week 17.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM The New York Giants' Julian Love (20) tackles the Las Vegas Raiders' Darren Waller (83) during a game Nov. 7, 2021, in East Rutherford, N.J. Waller had two catches for 22 yards in the game.  Not being able to play was challenging for Waller. The one-time Pro Bowler has been forthcoming about his battle with addiction and sobriety and said Wednesday being out of the lineup was difficult. "Because of my disease of addiction, that can have me thinking all kinds of crazy things. So, I've got to make...
Getty Las Vegas Raiders DL Darius Philon. The Las Vegas Raiders have a lot to be happy about right now after clinching their first playoff berth but it wasn’t all good news coming out of the win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Defensive tackle Darius Philon has been one of the team’s best free agent signings this season. He made a huge play in Week 18 on a fourth-down run stuff that gave the Raiders the ball in Chargers territory. Unfortunately, he had to be carted off the field late in the fourth quarter and quickly ruled out. It turns out the Raiders’ worst fears were realized. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Philon is out for the season after suffering a torn patellar tendon. Getty Former Raiders QB Kyle Sloter. The Las Vegas Raiders have been fortunate to not have too many quarterback issues this season. Outside of Derek Carr missing a couple of snaps against the Chicago Bears with an injury in Week 5, he’s been able to stay mostly healthy for the team. Early in the season, the team did place Marcus Mariota on the Injured Reserve with a calf injury but he’s healthy now despite currently being on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. When Mariota was out, the Raiders signed Kyle Sloter on the practice squad in case they needed quarterback help. He spent much of the offseason with the team but was cut before training camp. He lasted a few weeks with the Raiders but was cut after Mariota returned from injury. He’s sat in free agency for weeks until now. GETTY GLENDALE, AZ - NOVEMBER 18: Gareon Conley #21 of the Oakland Raiders celebrates an interception in the first half of the NFL game against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on November 18, 2018 in Glendale, Arizona. (Photo by Jennifer Stewart/Getty Images) The San Francisco 49ers need help in the secondary and at this point in the season, help is hard to find. Throughout the season, San Francisco has walked the line between mediocre and just plain bad as a pass defense. Per the NFL, the 49ers are fifth-worst in the league in opposing completion percentage (68.6,) and are tied for second-to-last in total interceptions, putting up just six on the year. They’re middle of the pack in other passing categories, ranking 13th in the NFL in passing touchdowns allowed (21) for example. But there’s no question they could use a new body, and preferably someone with experience and upside. This is where Gareon Conley comes in. The former Las Vegas Raiders corner remains a free agent after an unceremonious exit from the Houston Texans at...
For Las Vegas Raiders fans hoping the team would welcome back Darren Waller vs. the Broncos, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.  It’s been a rough few weeks for the Las Vegas Raiders offense without star tight end Darren Waller out on the field catching passes from Derek Carr. Folks were hoping they’d see Waller out there against the Broncos in Week 16. That’s not looking likely, as Waller continues to struggle with his knee and back injuries. Waller wasn’t able to practice again on Thursday. Now, the feeling is that he’ll have to miss yet another game. The #Raiders were without Darren Waller (knee/back) again today. Doesnt seem likely that hes gonna play. Denzel Perryman (ankle) returned to practice in a limited role. Josh Jacobs (illness) is also back. Getty Las Vegas Raiders DB Johnathan Abram. One of the biggest beneficiaries of Gus Bradley taking over as defensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders has been Johnathan Abram. The former first-round pick was coming off a very bad season in 2020 and was starting to look like a draft bust. However, Bradley took Abram out of coverage and had him playing in the box. While his coverage issues have continued, he’s been a menace in the run game a time. Unfortunately, Abram’s season will be ending early. He had to leave the Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns early with a shoulder injury. It was later found out that he dislocated his shoulder, which is something he was expected to come back from but doctors aren’t allowing it. Despite wanting to play through the pain, Abram is opting into season-ended shoulder Surgery on the advice of doctors, according to Tom Peliserro of NFL Network. #Raiders safety Johnathan Abram will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery Thursday, per source. Getty Images Takkarist McKinley of the Cleveland Browns. Takkarist McKinley was carted off the field against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday and the Cleveland Browns fear the pass-rusher has a torn Achilles. McKinley went down in the second half and was unable to put weight on his leg. The injury happened while he was trying to get to Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and the team originally dubbed it an ankle injury, quickly designated him as out for the rest of the matchup. After taking a strange-looking step on a pass-rush move, McKinley reached down and grabbed his leg after the ball was away. #TakkaristMcKinley @browns carted off.Team says ankle OUT.By video, left Achilles tendon tear and season is done with surgery. pic.twitter.com/JjhCqVg6V1 — David J. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Las Vegas Raiders stumbled into Kansas City still harboring playoff hopes, even though they’ve been beset by injuries, dealt with a season’s worth of off-the-field turmoil, and had lost four of their last five games. They looked more like a team deserving of the No. 1 draft pick on Sunday. Josh Jacobs fumbled on the game’s opening play and the Chiefs returned it for a touchdown. Derek Carr was picked off a few minutes later and the Chiefs turned that into a score. And when tight end Foster Moreau fumbled later in the first half, it felt as if the Chiefs would reach the end zone again — which they did. Kansas City turned the three first-half turnovers into 21 points, led 35-0 at the break and caused two more turnovers in the second half as the Chiefs cruised to a dominant 48-9 victory on Sunday. So much for a team that began the day tied with the Broncos, two games back of the Chiefs in the AFC West. Carr was held to 263...
Las Vegas Raiders running back Kenyan Drake called out the NFL on Sunday for poor officiating after sustaining a season-ending injury in the 17-15 loss against the Washington Football Team. Drake was carted off the field in the second quarter after being brought down from behind by defensive tackle Daniel Wise, who appeared to roll over his right ankle causing him to be ruled out for the remainder of the game.  Drake broke his ankle and the injury is considered season-ending, the NFL Network reported. Getty Las Vegas Raiders RB Kenyan Drake. The Las Vegas Raiders can’t catch a break this season. They’ve already been without two starting offensive linemen for most of the year due to injury in Richie Incognito and Denzelle Good, and the injury issues on offense are continuing to pile on. Tight end Darren Waller missed Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team and it remains to be seen when he’ll return to the field. Now, the Raiders will no longer have their No. 2 running back the rest of the season. Kenyan Drake had to get carted off the field against Washington on Sunday after taking an awkward hit to his ankle. The Raiders’ worst fears were realized as the ankle is broken, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. #Raiders RB Kenyan Drake suffered a broken ankle in today’s game, sources say, and he is out for the season. Kenyan Drake’s 2021 NFL season with the Las Vegas Raiders is over after breaking his leg on a controversial tackling technique used by a member of the Washington Football Team’s defense. Though the Las Vegas Raiders are still somewhat alive for the playoffs over in the AFC, it is season over for running back Kenyan Drake. Drake had been the Silver and Black’s second-leading rusher on the season. While he was more of a change-of-pace back to fellow Alabama alum Josh Jacobs, Drake did have immense value on this team. Now, he will have to watch the rest of Las Vegas’ games from the sidelines after getting his ankle broken on a questionable tackling technique used by a Washington Football Team defender. Odds are, Drake’s ankle would still be fully intact if he didn’t get gator rolled on this rough tackle. Graphic Video Warning: The #NFL needs to look at this specific style of tackling. Getty Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller. The Las Vegas Raiders had to hold their breath against the Dallas Cowboys when star tight end Darren Waller was forced out of the game with an injury. Luckily, he only had a strained IT band, which isn’t bad considering the alternatives. However, he still could miss some time due to the injury. Waller missed practice for the Raiders all week as he nurses the injury. On Friday, interim head coach Rich Bisaccia announced that the tight end will be doubtful for Sunday’s matchup against the Washington Football Team. Waller is a very important part of the offense so it’ll be a blow if he can’t end up playing. That said, the Raiders pulled off a win against the Cowboys last week despite Waller missing most of the game. The team also beat the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the season in a game where the tight end didn’t even suit up. Obviously, the Raiders would much rather have him on the field if possible but it’s not a guaranteed loss...
Getty Daryl Worley walks off the field following al loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Buffalo Bills could turn to a familiar face to provide some help after losing cornerback Tre White to a season-ending injury, an insider suggests. White suffered a torn ACL in the Thanksgiving night win over the New Orleans Saints, leaving a massive hole in Buffalo’s secondary. While head coach Sean McDermott is expected to stay within the team to find White’s immediate replacement, the Bills could look to free agency to provide depth, and a former member of the team’s practice squad could be waiting. Getty Las Vegas Raiders TE Darren Waller. Despite the win over the Dallas Cowboys, the Las Vegas Raiders could’ve been on the verge of disaster. In the second quarter, star tight end Darren Waller was forced to leave the game with a knee injury. He did some light work on the sideline in an effort to return but it was concerning that he was eventually ruled out. The Raiders didn’t offer much insight after the game but it appears the team has received some good news. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Waller suffered a strained IT band in his knee, which is good news considering the alternatives. #Raiders Pro Bowl TE Darren Waller suffered just a strained IT band in his knee, sources told me and @TomPelissero said after his MRI. The Las Vegas Raiders and their fans should be happy with the injury update about Darren Waller after the talented tight end’s MRI revealed the extent of his knee injury. Things could certainly be worse for the Las Vegas Raiders after an MRI was done on tight end Darren Waller’s knee. If anything, the Raiders should be pretty relieved after the extent of Waller’s knee injury was revealed in an MRI. According to a tweet from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the MRI indicated that Waller is dealing with a strained IT band in his hurt knee. Rapoport also stated that this is “some very good news” for Waller and the Raiders. #Raiders Pro Bowl TE Darren Waller suffered just a strained IT band in his knee, sources told me and @TomPelissero said after his MRI. Getty Las Vegas Raiders TE Darren Waller. The Las Vegas Raiders are back in the win column with a gutsy win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. Fresh off a three-game losing streak, not many people expected them to pull off the win. It took some drama and overtime to make it happen but the Raiders are winners and back over .500 with a 6-5 record. However, it wasn’t all good news for the team as star tight end Darren Waller was forced out of the game in the second quarter with a knee injury. He tried to return to the game before the end of the first half but came out in street clothes when the third quarter started and was ruled out. The Raiders didn’t have anything to say about the extent of the injury after the game so fans are left to speculate. Dr. David J. Chao had a chance to take a look at the play in which Waller was injured. The TV broadcast said that Waller had a bone bruise. That...
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas judge told attorneys for Henry Ruggs III on Wednesday to get their own subpoena for fire department records about the fatal crash and fire the former Raiders wide receiver is accused of causing by driving drunk at speeds up to 156 mph. Justice of the Peace Suzan Baucum told attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld during a brief hearing that she didn’t agree with the effort and a court order from her wasn’t needed. The lawyers have said in court filings that a witness told them firefighters were slow to extinguish flames in the vehicle in which Tina Tintor, 23, died on Nov. 2. They have not identified the witness. A Clark County spokesman has said there were no delays in the firefighting response or the attack on the fire. Witnesses told police they tried to rescue Tintor. But they were turned back by heat, flames and smoke. Ruggs, 22, was released by the Raiders after the crash. He’s free on $150,000 bail under strict home confinement with electronic monitoring and four-times-a-day alcohol...

The team has lost two straight ugly games and is now losing a key player for the season. Fullback Alec Ingold had to leave Sunday’s game early against the Kansas City Chiefs due to an injury. He had to be carted into the locker room and was quickly ruled out. The Raiders’ worst fears were realized as an MRI confirmed that he suffered an ACL tear, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Getty Javin White tackling Dom Wood-Anderson. For years, the Las Vegas Raiders have been a mess at linebacker. They’ve had the most difficult time finding solutions at the position. It appears that the team may have finally figured things out. The trio of Cory Littleton, Denzel Perryman and K.J. Wright has been solid for the team. Both Perryman and Wright were acquired just before the season started but already have big roles. Second-year linebacker Javin White had a real shot of making the regular season active roster in training camp but was hurt in preseason. He was placed on injured reserve and that played a role in why the Raiders signed Perryman and Wright. Getty Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs. It seems as if every time Josh Jacobs’ body is feeling good, he suffers a setback. Heading into Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Las Vegas Raiders running back expressed that he was feeling as healthy as he ever had this late in the season. Unfortunately, he got hurt during the Eagles game and was forced to leave early. He’s already missed two games due to injury so this latest one was certainly frustrating. On Monday, interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said that Jacobs suffered a chest injury but it wasn’t too serious. However, there’s apparently more to the story. Jacobs posted on Instagram early Tuesday morning stating that he does not “have a chest injury.” He also said, “stop the” and inserted a blue emoji. That translates to “stop the cap,” which means “stop lying.” Essentially, it appears that Jacobs is accusing Bisaccia and the Raiders of lying about his injury. A chest injury was announced as the reason for his absence, but initial word is that Jacobs should be back in action in the near future. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Jacobs avoided a serious injury. The Raiders have a bye in Week Eight, so he will have extended time off to heal before the team returns against the Giants in Week Nine. Kenyan Drake posted 69 rushing yards and a...
Getty Josh Jacobs with Darren Waller. The bye week is coming just in time for the Las Vegas Raiders. The team is red hot right now and coming off a dominant 33-22 win over the Philadelphia Eagles but they are banged up. On Friday, it was revealed that star tight end Darren Waller was questionable for Sunday’s game after suffering a freak ankle injury in practice. He ended up not suiting up against the Eagles. Luckily, Foster Moreau stepped up and caught six passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. However, the Raiders will want their star tight end back sooner rather than later. According to Moreau, Waller shouldn’t be out for too long. “Darren’s minor, Darren will be back,” Moreau said of Waller’s injury after the game. “I’m not too worried about that.” There’s no specific return date for Waller to return but based on Moreau’s comments, it’s hard to imagine he isn’t back after the bye week. The Raiders have been banged up all season so this week off should do a lot to help them....

Getty Las Vegas Raiders LB Nicholas Morrow. The Las Vegas Raiders had dealt with some serious injury issues early in the season but things are starting to stabilize. One of the toughest injuries the team was hit with was when starting linebacker Nicholas Morrow hurt his ankle during training camp. The Raiders had to trade for Denzel Perryman and sign K.J. Wright to stabilize the linebacker room after that injury. Morrow was placed on Injured Reserve but is still expected to return. He’s already served his three weeks on the IR but there appears to be little movement regarding his return. Interim head coach Rich Bisaccia revealed that Morrow actually had to undergo surgery and hasn’t returned to practice yet. Javin White was another linebacker who got put on the IR in training camp but he’s slowly making his way back to the practice field. Getty Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard. The Las Vegas Raiders are dealing with some tough times early in the season. They’ve lost their last two games in ugly fashion against the Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears. A big reason the team is struggling is due to ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Derek Carr is playing well but can only do so much behind a terrible offensive line. He’s been sacked 15 times in five games, which is a career-high. To make matters worse, he’s already had two serious injury scares. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carr was tackled awkwardly around his ankle. Luckily, he was back in on the next drive and didn’t miss any time. The Raiders and Carr had another big injury scare on Sunday against the Bears. COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. has been ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders with an ankle injury. Murray rolled his left ankle during individual drills on Saturday and was carted off. It’s the same ankle Murray injured during the first quarter of the Chargers’ 20-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 19. Drue Tranquill is likely to start in Murray’s place, and rookie Nick Niemann could see additional playing time. Cornerback Chris Harris Jr. is questionable and will be a game-time decision for Los Angeles (2-1). Harris has missed two games with shoulder issues and was limited in practice in all week. Defensive lineman Justin Jones will miss his third straight game with a calf injury. Jones practiced Thursday and Friday but sat out Saturday. ___ More AP NFL coverage: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL and https://twitter.com/AP_NFL Copyright © 2021 The Associated Press.
