Former Miss USA winner Cheslie Kryst texted her mother a haunting message jumping to her death from her New York City apartment.  Kryst, 30, sent her mother April Simpkins a text message right before jumping from her NYC high-rise, reading: 'First, I'm sorry, by the time you get this, I won't be alive anymore. And it makes me even more sad to write this because I know this will hurt you the most.'   Simpkins revealed on Red Table Talk that she 'near blacked out' after reading the message. 'By the time I had read the text, an hour had passed,' she told host Jada Pinkett-Smith, her daughter Willow Smith, Pinkett-Smith's mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris. Kryst had sent her mother the text while she knew she'd be in an exercise class.  'I [remember] calling my husband and screaming "what, what" and we got home and just trying to figure out what to do. I had not read the rest of her message, I just couldn't.'  She added that she instantly took the text seriously because this was her daughter's second suicide attempt. She had previously...

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James said he is committed to making his final NBA season a family affair, expressing a desire to play with his son Bronny James.  The 37-year-old four-time NBA champion, in Cleveland for this weekend's All-Star Game, made the wholesome revelation during an interview with The Athletic published on Saturday.  'My last year will be played with my son,' James told the outlet. 'Wherever Bronny is at, that's where I'll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It's not about the money at that point.'  Bronny James is a 17-year-old junior at Sierra Canyon High School in the Los Angeles area. It means the 6-foot-2 guard will not be NBA eligible until the 2024-25 season  when his legendary father will be 39.  LeBron is under contract with the Lakers through the 2022-23 season, leading to speculation that he would just sign a one-year deal once his current contract expires and then be open to signing with whatever team he desires in 2024-25. LeBron has averaged 29.1 points...
ZHANGJIAKOU, China (AP) — This really is it for Shaun White. The three-time gold medalist made it clear that not only will the Beijing Games be his last Olympics, they’ll mark his final contest, too. During a reflective, sometimes emotional news conference Saturday, not far from the halfpipe where he’ll take his last competitive ride, the 35-year-old said that, yes, he’ll be hanging ’em up for good after the medal round next week. “In my mind, I’ve decided this will be my last competition,” he said. It’s a decision that’s been building since a soul-sucking training stop in Austria in November. He was dealing with nagging remnants from injuries to his knee … and back … and ankle. He got lost on the mountain with the sun going down. It was one of those rare times when snowboarding didn’t feel fun anymore. “A sad and surreal moment,” he called it. “But joyous, as well. I kind of reflected on things I’ve done and looked at the sun going down and went, ‘Wow, next time I’m here, I won’t be stressed...
Novak Djokovic's biographer claims the Serbian will now take his Covid-19 vaccination because he had to sit and watch Rafael Nadal win a record 21st Grand Slam at the Australian Open. Djokovic was kicked out of Australia earlier this year before the tournament where he was defending champion began. He arrived in the country to uproar after revealing he had a medical exemption to compete unvaccinated - which later emerged to be due to his claims he contracted the virus late last year.  He was in enforced hotel quarantine when Australia's border force cancelled his visa and he went to court trying to overturn their decision.  But it now appears that Nadal's victory, combined with other tournaments enforcing stricter rules regarding vaccination, could have changed his mind. His biographer Daniel Muksch appeared on Austrian TV channel ServusTV and said: 'What you hear from his environment, I think he's getting vaccinated. 'Maybe the final in Melbourne also contributed to that. Rafael Nadal's 21 is driving him, no question.'  Novak Djokovic (second left) was deported from Australia after a row that went to...

10 thoughts after the Chicago Bears found a new way to give another game away in the final minute — this time to a former undrafted quarterback making his first NFL start. Tyler Huntley was able to leave Soldier Field as the hero after the Baltimore Ravens claimed a 16-13 victory Sunday afternoon. 1. Flash back to the middle of October 2019: The Bears were in a rut and had just lost at home to the New Orleans Saints. The final score was 36-25, but the game wasn’t nearly that close as the offense scored two touchdowns in garbage time to turn a rout-in-the-making into an 11-point loss. Mitch Trubisky was forced to attempt 54 passes that afternoon, and when all was said and done, Matt Nagy was forced to answer for why the team handed the ball off only five times and the offense had a total of seven rushing attempts when adding in quarterback runs. The seven attempts set a franchise record for fewest carries in a game. I reference this head-scratcher because this was...

This team must be put where it deserves, regardless of the result of the final. It is an Olympic silver medal and we must highlight the trajectory that they bring. When I look at the record of some of them … please. They have been since 2007 without getting off the podium and before that there was a two-year break, but we were also coming for three without stopping achieving successes. It’s something brutal. The recognition that this team and this sport deserve must be very high. It is working many hours, I know how hard it is. It is time to put in real value everything they have done. By the time the game is over, surely the feeling they have had is one of great annoyance since you have just lost an Olympic final. It has happened the same as in London 2012, at no time have they been with options within the party. It is a tough defeat, but Miki (Oca) has the ability to convey that you have to forget how it has been and enjoy...
Simone Biles's biological mother has just four words to tell the world about her emotionally troubled superstar daughter. 'She's gonna be okay.' Shanon Biles had those encouraging words after the seven-time Olympic-medalist shockingly pulled out of the US team gymnast event in Tokyo. Constituents of New York's 22nd Congressional District will find themselves without representation in the House when the new Congress convenes in early January. That's due to another delay in ballot-counting in the neck-and-neck race between Democratic Rep. Anthony Brindisi and former Rep. Claudia Tenney, a Republican who lost the seat in 2018 after a single two-year term and is trying for a comeback. But ballot-counting has been delayed again in Oneida County, reports syracuse.com, prolonging a courtroom battle lasting more than a month that has seen both candidates take the lead and fall behind. State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte said he is waiting to rule on disputed ballots until all of the counties’ vote counts are updated. The race's first tallies showed Tenney up by as much as 28,000 votes. But Brindisi steadily whittled away at that edge as more absentee ballots were counted. Both parties have a lot riding on the outcome of the 22nd Congressional District clash.
