New footage from a 2016 interview with police of Sherri Papini, who mimicked the plot of 'Gone Girl' by attempting to execute her own kidnapping, shows the mother of two speaking to police with a swollen and bandaged nose in the immediate aftermath of the ordeal. In a clip that aired Friday morning on Good Morning America, Papini, 39, is seen with a bandage across the bridge of her nose as she told law enforcement officers she was hesitant to discuss the kidnapping with them because she doesn't know if they're 'in my corner.' 'I don't know you guys. I don't know if you're in my corner,' she said. 'I know my husband. I know my husband is in my corner, but you know, there was a lot of other things and I know that you guys know everything about everything. It's embarrassing and yucky and that's weird for me.' The fired prison guard accused of taking bribes from male prisoners for access to the women's wing where they would assault female inmates insists:  'I'm innocent – and I was set up.' David Lowe, 29, shook violently and broke down sobbing as he told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview he was 'coerced into a false confession' because he 'feared for his safety' during questioning by a senior detective from Clark County Sheriff's Office in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The former corrections officer faces felony charges and two civil lawsuits by a total of 28 women who claim they were subjected to horrific sexual assaults – including two rapes – after Lowe agreed to hand over keys to the secure area of the county jail in exchange for $1,000.  The criminal charges carry a maximum sentence of nine-and-a-half years in prison.  Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel, the sheriff's department and other unnamed jail officials are also being sued over the 'night of terror' on the part of 'multiple male detainees' that allegedly took place in October 2021. A group of 28 women have filed a lawsuit claiming they were repeatedly raped and attacked in a southern Indiana prison after an officer sold a key to the women's wing to a male inmate. Clark County Sheriff's Department, ex-corrections officer David Lowe and unnamed jail staff in Jeffersonville are being sued by the women in two separate lawsuits. Lowe is also facing separate felony charges after being arrested last October in connection with the horror incident, where he gave inmates access to secure areas of the jail in exchange for $1,000. Dozens of women were subjected to a 'night of terror' by the male prisoners, which went uninterrupted for at least two hours on 24 October 2021. The men used the keys given to them by Lowe to access the women's wing where they covered their faces so they could not be identified, and proceeded to yell and threaten to harm them if they pressed an emergency call button.  Twenty of the women have lodged a lawsuit against Sheriff Jamey Noel in both his individual and professional capacity. WHETHER it's unwanted attention, a bad back or button strain, there are many problems only women with big boobs will understand. And taking to TikTok, one woman, who is from the UK and goes by the acronym @baby.ray, revealed the problems she encounters. In a short clip, she can be seen donning a figure-hugging purple dress and explains: "In one small tutorial, let me explain to you why most girls, especially smaller-framed girls, hate having big boobs, OK?" She then can be seen holding onto her breasts and continues: "Look at me right now, if we were to take all of this, take it away, look how much smaller I become...how much smaller I look." It makes me look a lot wider than I am." And for people who are smaller framed, it's just so irritating, so annoying - especially if you want to take a selfie or anything." A self-described 'villain coach' is teaching women how to 'traumatize men' who harass them on the street by scaring them off with off-putting remarks, creepy threats, and bizarre overshares. Kitti, 26, says that nearly every day, a man she doesn't know will approach her out in public and catcall her, hit on her, or make other unwelcome advances — and she knows that many other women have similar experiences.  She also knows that a police 'no' often does nothing to fend off these men, who can be persistent and demanding. So now Kitti gives them a reason to back off by TKing, Tking, and even threatening to sell their information to organ harvesters.  'If you can creep them out, they leave you alone,' she says.  Kitti, 26, says that nearly every day, a man she doesn't know will approach her out in public and catcall her, hit on her, or make other unwelcome advances She said she was always good at dealing with bullies, so she's applied her tactics to these men @caffinatedkitti I keep seeing comments to stay safe....

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared a bizarre video of her boyfriend's feet on her Instagram stories Tuesday, claiming Republicans are obsessed with them and she should give the people what they want.  'So we recently went to Florida, where Republicans developed an obsession with Riley's feet,' Rep. Ocasio-Cortez said in the video, as she panned the camera down to his shoes as he walked ahead of her in an apparent parking garage. She added, shouting: 'So give the people what they want!' Her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, was heard laughing in the background.  The video references comments made over the weekend by conservatives who slammed the Democratic socialist representative for partying maskless in restriction-free Florida and enjoying cocktails and sushi with Roberts.  Roberts was snapped wearing a pair of Birkenstocks with bare feet, prompting jokes from Republicans, and subsequent backlash from AOC who accused conservative tweeter Steve Cortes of being sexually frustrated.  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared a bizarre video of her boyfriend's feet on her Instagram stories Tuesday. LOUISVILLE, Colo. (CBS4) – A December fire that destroyed more than 900 structures is the fourth time the Boulder County Community Foundation has activated its emergency fund in the last two years. It’s only the sixth time in its organization’s history. Millions of dollars have been donated from around the world to aid in disaster relief. Businesses were destroyed, but standing stores are helping their neighbors in need.   Eleanor and Hobbs is a boutique in Downtown Louisville. They don’t typically carry men’s wear, but this week they’re clothing a community.  People who’ve lost wardrobes are shopping donations in a downtown store. “My first thought was how can we give back to the community? We have clothing. So that’s what we did,” said Tracy Hobbs, owner of Eleanor and Hobbs. “We noticed that people coming in here are coming in the clothes that they evacuated in.”   Hobbs turned her store into a center for donations. People started bringing in clothes after seeing the fire’s destruction. Many have been stopping by the store to pick up gently-used clothing.  (credit: CBS)...
Processing unwanted Christmas returns has become so expensive for online retailers they're increasingly likely to let customers keep the item and offer a refund too.    According to returns processor Optoro, returning a $50 item costs an average of $33, up 59 percent from 2020, when it cost around $13.53 to do so.  That has led to an increase in the number of retailers telling shoppers' to keep an unwanted gift, rather than return it, because the processing cost wipes out any profit they'll have made.   Optoro's CEO Tobin Moore claims supply chain issues and worker shortages are to blame for the rocketing prices of handling returns.  According to CBRE supply chain, about three in 10 online purchases get returned.    Many big retailers already analyze shoppers they suspect of gaming the system by making too many returns, or buying goods in the hopes of getting to keep them and receive a refund. And attempting to exploit the strained system could result in people being banned from certain sites altogether, experts have warned.   The cost of returning a $50 item to a...
Elon Musk has threatened to give JPMorgan 'a one-star review on Yelp' unless the bank withdraw a $162 million lawsuit against him, accusing him of violating their agreements with his erratic and provocative tweets. Musk in August 2018 tweeted that he had enough funding to take his company Tesla private, referencing 420 - the slang for marijuana. The tweet sent the share price on a rollercoaster ride, and Musk was fined by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in October 2018: he was ordered to pay $20 million, and Tesla ordered to pay the same.  On November 15 the bank sued, and The Wall Street Journal on Monday reported on the intense animosity between Jamie Dimon, the head of the bank, and Musk. Musk and Dimon have attempted to restore their relationship, sources told the paper, but were unable to find common ground.  JPMorgan, America's biggest bank, reportedly concluded that it was better off without the most valuable car manufacturer in the U.S., the paper said.   'We have provided Tesla multiple opportunities to fulfill its contractual obligations, so it is...
If Democrats have been consistent on anything, it’s been their promise to make the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share in taxes. Joe Biden campaigned on rectifying the unfairness of the U.S. tax code. So did Bernie Sanders. And most of the lawmakers populating the Democratic majorities in Congress—from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). With their control of Washington, Democrats finally had an opportunity to fulfill this long-running promise and, in doing so, provide a much-needed source of revenue for their trillion-dollar social spending package. But as that bill finally comes together, Democrats are not only not raising taxes on the rich, they are about to approve a significant tax break for the highest earners. Democrats may largely agree on the wisdom of taxing the rich, but internal disagreements over how to do it have put some tools—like a proposed billionaires’ tax—off the table. At the same time, a group of Democratic lawmakers have said they won’t vote for the final bill unless it restores a break for people who pay high state and local...

Parents in multiple Alabama school districts have been warned to give their children breakfast and sent them to school with snacks because supply chain shortages have badly-affected food deliveries.   District leaders are asking parents to feed their own kids and pack snacks before sending them to class as employees work around-the-clock to keep pantries stocked. The situation is so dire in the state’s Dothan City Schools district that officials are mulling switching to virtual learning for part of the week to ‘alleviate the stress of our food supplies.’ It's not a problem unique to Alabama as supply and labor shortages cripple cafeterias throughout the nation.  A principal in Philadelphia ordered 400 pizzas for her elementary students who otherwise would have gone hungry when a scheduled food order went undelivered last month. In other states, school staffers have resorted to doing their own grocery shopping for students. 'Essentially what we have here is a perfect storm,' Stacy Koppen, nutrition services director for Minnesota's St. Paul Public Schools district, told KSTP.com.  'We have a shortage of raw gradients, we have a shortage...
On Friday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show,” Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) said the U.S. doesn’t have leverage over the Taliban because China will provide the Taliban with whatever money it needs, and they have the leverage of Americans who can be taken hostage. Gallagher stated, “[T]he administration is out there telling us, well, don’t worry. The mission hasn’t ended. We can still get our people out. Because we have leverage. What a joke, Hugh. We don’t have leverage. Their entire theory of the case [is] that we have leverage because the Taliban want recognition, they want humanitarian assistance. But the Chinese are going to provide them with whatever cash they need. And leverage comes from victory on the ground, and they have it. We don’t. We surrendered to them. And now, they have the leverage that comes from hundreds of Americans potentially being taken hostage by the Taliban and sold to al-Qaeda or sold to some other country. We have no leverage.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Two drunk friends were left with swollen penises after injecting each other with a cream they heard could give them extra girth. The French men, both in their thirties, watched a YouTube 'tutorial' that offered bogus tips on how they could get a bigger penis. It told them to inject themselves with an anti-hematoma cream — sometimes used to treat piles — to boost the size of their members. But instead of experimenting on themselves, they decided to inject each other.   Doctors who treated the unidentified pair revealed they suffered from 'progressive painful swelling of the penis during the night' and went to hospital the next morning. Both men complained it hurt when the medics touched their penis to inspect the damage. And gruesome pictures published in a medical journal showed the extent of their swelling. Medics fear the cream blocked lymph vessels in the penis, stopping the body from naturally clearing excess fluid and causing it to swell. Both men were told to rest and take painkillers, in the hope that the swelling would go down on its own....

IT'S not uncommon for kids to have to share a room, but when it's tiny and has limited space things can get a little tricky. But there are ways to utilise the space you do have and savvy parents are sharing the clever bedroom designs that have given their little ones extra room to play without it feeling cramped. Rather than bunkbeds, mum Jessica created two high sleeper beds for her daughters Seeking inspiration, a mum whose daughter, four, has a tiny box room sought out help on Facebook, after revealing that she's due to have a baby who will sleep in there too. While swapping rooms with her own was an option many suggested, it's not always necessary. Proving to have worked well for others, a high sleeper bed is the perfect solution for kids with tiny rooms as it creates extra space underneath the bed for toys, a desk area or even a cot for an infant. One mum provided space for her three girls who all share a room by redesigning the...
More than 1,600 inmates across the U.S. have died from the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, but even that hasn’t stopped some sheriffs from flagrantly flouting public health guidelines—and putting sitting-duck prisoners at risk of serious illness or death—by refusing to hand out masks in their detention centers. The Daily Beast reached out to 35 sheriff’s offices across the country whose leaders have vocally opposed mask mandates. Of the 16 who responded, only four have enforced mask policies. Three sheriff’s officials said they are not handing out masks at all, while four said they refuse to force prisoners to wear them. The rest declined to comment. According to The Marshall Project, at least 249,883 people in America’s prisons and jails have tested positive for COVID-19 since March. The COVID-19 case rate among the inmate population is approximately four times higher in federal and state prisons than in the rest of the United States—and twice as deadly. And despite cramped conditions and high rates of pre-existing health conditions among the 1.3 million currently incarcerated, detention centers aren’t reducing...
Remember when you were little and you thought guns were cool? They weren't. One of the saddest parts of the conservative movement is how full of bullshit it is. Republican officials fan the fires of freedom, while offering nothing to ameliorate the crisis conditions of the Americans they pretend to represent. In so doing, they get their base all frothed up, carrying guns, calling elections fraudulent, practicing unsafe public health habits, only to then leave them out in the lurch when the proverbial shit hits the fan. We are now in an unchecked pandemic and Republican officials have finally begun ripping away all of those “individual freedoms” they pretended they cared about when there was still an election to win. Unfortunately, their voting base is still under the impression that surging COVID-19 cases and our stressed medical infrastructure are all secondary concerns when it comes to their snowflake feelings of anxiety and resentment. The Washington Post reported that a Virginia gun show organizer was trying to get an exemption from the state’s newly tightened COVID-19 restrictions. Showmasters, Inc. argued that these...
Mayor Bill de Blasio’s mid-year budget update is due in the next two weeks, but we don’t have to wait in suspense: The mayor demands that President-Elect Biden deliver the dough. But what do the election results really say about the prospects of a full-on bailout for Gotham and New York state? On Election Eve, the mayor presented his budget plan to NY1. “If Joe Biden’s elected president, the most likely time for a major stimulus is February,” he said. “The second we have that, New York City’s in a position to address a whole host of issues, avert layoffs, but also to do a lot of positive things.” Biden isn’t ignoring New York: His transition team includes city Department of Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg and planner Marisa Lago. But it doesn’t include any state or city budget official. How much will the new president go out of his way to help us, though? Leave aside the fact that a divided Congress — no matter which party wins the Senate — won’t give him room for a multi-trillion-dollar stimulus. Biden...

Women in France are being forced to wear masks during childbirth, with doctors given the power to refuse to treat anyone who chooses not to wear one.   French mothers have expressed their outrage at the mask requirement, pointing out that someone exercising in a fitness centre in the country is exempt from wearing one, but pregnant women must wear one during childbirth - a practice which is not followed in the UK or the US.   Critics, including medics and campaigners, argued that women are finding themselves in unnecessary distress, sometimes leading to them becoming too weak to push or having emergency C-sections.  Mothers across France have been forced to give birth wearing face masks after new legislation has seen the majority of hospitals enforcing a strict mask wearing policy. Last week, in a riveting extract from a major forthcoming biography, this newspaper revealed the Duke of Edinburgh's frank and uncompromising opinions about the black sheep of the Royal Family.  Now, in the second exclusive instalment, the book's impeccably well-connected author gives her unrivalled insight into the tales of infidelity that the Prince just can't shake off. When Prince Philip found out that his young wife had become Queen, his reaction was one which those closest to him would never forget.  'He looked absolutely flattened, as if the whole world had collapsed in on in him,' recalled his friend Mike Parker, who had been in the Kenyan bush with the Royal couple when the news of George VI's unexpected death reached them.  'He saw immediately that the idyll of his life and of their life together had come to an end.' 'He put a newspaper over his face and just remained like that for about five minutes,' remembered Pamela Mountbatten, Elizabeth's lady-in-waiting.  'The shock of what had happened and the enormity of the consequences briefly disconnected him.' Prince Philip...
Sundar Pichai and Tim CookSource: Reuters; Apple When the CEOs of Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google's parent company Alphabet testify before Congress on Wednesday, it won't be exactly what the House Antitrust Subcommittee members envisioned when their probe launched last June.  For one thing, it will be held over video conferencing software due to pandemic-related precautions, eliminating the optics of the four executives swearing in before an elevated panel of lawmakers. And with 1.3 million documents already obtained from the companies, the testimony is unlikely to include any bombshells the subcommittee hasn't already learned. But regardless of how well-practiced the CEOs are when they take the witness stand, their testimonies will offer an important insight: how they are handling antitrust challenges from regulators with the authority to break them up. The House Judiciary Committee's probe into the tech companies is expected to end with a report and legislative proposals about how to update the antitrust laws to respond to new challenges posed by the digital marketplace. Those laws, if enacted, could have far-reaching and lasting effects on how federal and state regulators...
DEAR MISS MANNERS: Please help! We sent out 220 wedding invitations; got back 175 yeses; then the wedding venue in San Francisco shut down in March with eight days’ notice! Judith Martin  We desperately tried to find an alternate venue, without success, and ended up canceling and calling all guests to tell them it was canceled. Fortunately, most out-of-town wedding guests were able to get airfare/hotels refunded. (No refunds for the wedding venue, caterers, etc., but we could reschedule with little additional cost.) If and when things open, how should we handle the rescheduling? Specifically, reinvite all the original invitees? Reinvite only those who RSVPed yes? If we reinvite only those guests who responded yes, what should we do about those who sent gifts even though they didn’t plan to attend? And what form should any reinvitations take? Bride and groom hope to marry in a ceremony for immediate family as soon as the quarantine is lifted but have a belated reception.
