WITH golden beaches and year-round sunshine, Gran Canaria is a classic fly-and-flop destination. And yet its capital, away from the beaches in the south, has plenty to offer those looking for a great-value city break. 4Gran Canaria has so much to offer beyond it's wondrous beachesCredit: Getty Christopher Columbus stopped here on his way to America in 1492. These days it’s a working city with an atmospheric historic quarter, thriving port and lively shopping districts. WHY SHOULD I GO? There’s not just one but five beaches in the city. Las Canteras has more than three miles of golden sand on the western side of the city. El Confital, to the north, is wilder, rugged and famous for surfing. On the other side is Las Alcaravaneras, in front of the port, ideal for sunbathing and sports. To the south are La Laja and San Cristobal, both much quieter. Andrew Weissmann, the former General Counsel of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, says former president Donald Trump will be indicted, based on his reading of the unsealed redacted affidavit used to obtain the “search and seize” warrant for Mar-a-Lago, unsealed by a federal judge Friday at noon. “I have to say, when I read this today my big overarching takeaway is – and I know this is just a prediction and speculation, but I say it’s an educated one – is that the former president is going to be prosecuted,” said Weissmann, who began his DOJ career as a federal prosecutor successfully trying Mafia crime boss cases. “I don’t see how you cannot” prosecute Trump, he continued. “Given this information, not just that it’s so clear that there is an active, thorough investigation and just how much was done here, but when you compare it to precedent, we compare it to General Petraeus, which happened when I was at the Bureau,” he said speaking of the former CIA Director who was arrested and prosecuted for sharing confidential material with his...

January 6 House committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) believes, at this point, he’s got former President Donald Trump totally figured out. In an interview on MSNBC Wednesday, host Chris Hayes asked the Maryland congressman whether he could recognize the full scope of Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election. “Did you understand how systematic, how broad, how targeted this entire effort was before entering into this investigation?” Hayes asked. “Well, I had an inkling of it,” Raskin replied. “Because he did leave no stone unturned. And within the creaky, antiquated Electoral College system, there are a lot of nooks and crannies, and opportunities for a bad faith actor like Donald Trump to plant a lot of booby traps. And that’s precisely what he did.” He added, “I had thought about trying to identify the various decision points and junctures within the Electoral College. And sure enough, he was in all of them trying to have his way and to usurp the will of the people and substitute his own political will. And it is sort of shocking when you...
Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that after investigating former President Donald Trump’s actions around the 2020 presidential election, he has “entered so much in Donald Trump’s head” that he can see the former president’s next moves because of Trump’s “real blood thirst for power.” Anchor Chris Hayes said, “It is still surprising to me how the scope and systematic nature of the various attempts, just the thing that you guys showed about the calls to the state legislators, the calls every day, the voice mails, it was not grasping at straws, you know? It wasn’t a temper tantrum. Did you understand how systematic, how broad, how, you know, targeted this entire effort was before entering into this investigation?” Raskin said, “Well, I had an inkling of it because he did leave no stone unturned. This means many of us - in a bid to look and feel younger - try out beauty trends that don't necessarily suit us, which can actually unfortunately have an opposite effect. 7There are key slip-ups most of us do in our quest for a naturally youthful glow, that can actually have the opposite effectCredit: Getty Here, beauty pro and editor of beauty blog Beauty Answers, Melissa Austin, reveals the common mistakes she regularly sees clients make that can actually add years on, instead of taking them off... MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace said Friday on her show “Deadline” that “there was so much shame” that only Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) clapped for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation vote to the U.S. Supreme Court. Wallace said, “For me, with my baggage as an ex-Republican, there’s so much shame, and she’s so qualified. I mean, this is someone who has impeccable qualifications, the temperament, everything that people in both parties used to talk about. And for me, the searing image was the lone Mitt Romney applauding her while the rest of them raced out to get to their MAGA zooms or wherever the hell they were going. But to me, to only see one Republican— I mean, elections have consequences. people in both parties understand that — but to see only one Republican have the grace — and you voted for her, but the fact that people who didn’t vote for her couldn’t be part of the moment the country was experiencing gave me that bittersweet feeling.” Network host Al Sharpton said, “Which shows the divide in the country. Less than three months ago on a pleasant September night, Drakeo the Ruler sauntered onto the Novo stage in downtown Los Angeles, the gleaming diamond chains around his neck accentuating his regal stage name. Stepping through the black curtain while rapping his song “Too Icey,” his words were nearly overpowered by the crowd’s roar, his eyes likely blinded from the flood of phone lights before him. Before he rapped a single bar, it was a special night: It was his first time on a Los Angeles stage since his release from jail in November 2020. After spending two years in jail on a murder charge for which he was eventually acquitted, he languished for another 14 months at Men’s Central Jail while the former district attorney pursued charges of criminal gang conspiracy. A note written by a Delta pilot at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic expressing his fears and hope for the future has been discovered more than a year later by a colleague. More than 400 days ago, as the COVID-19 pandemic forced thousands of canceled flights and a world of uncertainty, First Officer Chris Dennis parked Delta ship 3009 to start the 'wake up' process at the Victorville airport in the California desert, the airline posted to it's official Facebook account on Thursday. Prior to his arrival from Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport, he had heard talks of a two-week lockdown as the pandemic continued to spread across the globe. Feeling the weight of the moment, the pilot penned a note for the next airman that would be doing the return to service flight before leaving it on the parked plane.   That next pilot, fellow First Officer Nick Perez, was going through his normal pre-flight checklist to start up the plane on Thursday when he discovered a letter 'tucked away' on a tray table in the flight deck, the post said.  'Hey...
Former President Donald Trump angrily rejected reports that social media bans had sent him sliding into irrelevance, insisting Monday that he was staying out of the headlines so attention would stay on President Joe Biden's troubles with inflation, the border and the Middle East. His comments come as his lieutenants plan a new social media platform to propel Trump back into the daily conversation. And a new poll suggests the former president retains his grip on Republicans, with a majority of the party still proclaiming Trump to be the 'true president.' Dear Quentin, Over the past three years, my wife has spent over $50,000 on cosmetic procedures. She never used to be a vain person. It started with a face lift after she turned 40, and now she can’t stop blowing money on everything from Botox and lip fillers to cool sculpting. I can think of a dozen ways to use that money more responsibly, but every time I mention it, she just shrugs, and says she likes looking good. According to her logic, she works a lot of overtime and drives a 15-year-old car, and she wouldn’t be doing either of those things, if she didn’t choose to get these procedures. I admit that she has paid for all this with her income, and she is frugal in other ways. She looks gorgeous, but it horrifies me to see so much money being blown on something so frivolous. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The manhunt is on for the hit-and-run driver that put a 22-year-old woman in the hospital. Home surveillance video shows an out-of-control van knocking down street signs and jumping the curb near Belfield Avenue and Church Lane in Germantown. I was on the way to get my nails done.” The silver van’s driver didn’t even hit the brakes. Tunnell was standing, waiting for the bus when she was hit. The impact was so severe, her body was tossed some 40 feet across the intersection. “All I remember is sitting up after I was hit and an off-duty officer was actually driving behind her,” Tunnell said. “He got out and started helping me, making sure I was OK.” But Tunnell wasn’t. She had serious injuries to her arm and head and her right leg...

Over the years, I’ve noticed that a lot of religious conservative leaders will interpret natural disasters or even events like 9/11 as divine punishment for some perceived sins of the American public. It’s usually part of their scam, but it’s a natural human instinct to think that everything happens with God’s approval. In another sense, tragedies that might make someone question the existence of a benevolent God can cause people to double down on their faith. It’s always somewhat interesting to see who gets blamed when things go horribly wrong. Any objective observer will note that ever since the Senate acquitted President Trump at his impeachment trial, on February 5, the country has been receiving one crippling blow after another. The timing suggests that God has responded with overwhelming disapproval of the verdict. If you’re inclined to believe that God communicates with us in this way, this conclusion is hard to avoid. There’s obviously the COVID-19 pandemic, in which the first confirmed case arrived at our shores during Trump’s trial. There the massive job losses associated with the novel coronavirus and other...

Signaling she was relieved of being free to speak her mind now no longer a “senior royal,” Meghan said she was looking forward to using her voice “in a way that I haven’t been able to of late. So, yeah, it’s good to be home.” Meghan was cast as interviewer in the exchange, congratulating Ramshaw in...

It is a great pleasure to be here and also to enjoy and see the public there, people respecting the rules. Why so much show today?
