Joe Rogan joked that people who lost their businesses during COVID-19 shutdowns should 'vote Republican,' while praising Ron Desantis' decision to keep Florida open during the pandemic and mocking President Biden. Rogan made the quip on a Saturday episode of his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience while speaking with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers - an outspoken critic of COVID-19 lockdowns and vaccines. The two were discussing how mass business closures caused by severe pandemic shutdown measures motivated droves of Americans to begin voting Republican. 'I'm hoping that, now that this is over, people are going to recognize that some serious errors were made and not repeat those. That's the best you can get out of it,' Rogan said, 'As far as compensation for people that were forced to close their businesses and keep their doors shuttered and lost everything they worked for decades to build, no, they're just going to be angry. '
Your deepest personal life lies between your ears: your experiences, desires and memories, your politics, your emotional problems and mental ailments.  It's for you to keep secret or to share. But could scientists soon open up your mind for anyone to read? Researchers armed with super-high-tech brain scanners and artificial intelligence programs claim they are forging new keys that may unlock our inner worlds. They are developing technology to read our minds with such accuracy that it may reveal exactly what we're looking at or imagining, discover our voting and buying intentions, and even reveal why we may be wired for illnesses such as depression and schizophrenia. In fact, this technology is already being used to understand how our brains work in order to diagnose and treat a range of conditions, for instance enabling surgeons to plan how to operate on brain tumours while sparing as much healthy tissue as possible. It's also enabled neurologists and psychologists to map how cognitive functions such as vision, language and memory operate across different brain regions. Scientists use it to track how our...
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has joined other Republicans in calling for prominent Democrats, including the president, to apologize to four border patrol agents who were cleared of whipping migrants. In September 2021, four border patrol agents were falsely accused of whipping a group of Haitian migrants at the southern border. A 500-page report released by the Customs and Border Protection this week found that the narrative surrounding the whipping allegations that were perpetuated by the White House was false. During an appearance on 'Hannity' on Friday, Paxton said: 'There's no doubt this was political. And it's really unfortunate for these border agents who've given their lives to securing our border and defending Americans.' The attorney general continued: 'And here they are being punished, they should be rewarded. They should be taken care of. Instead, their careers may be ruined, and they've been humiliated in front of the entire American public.' Paxton told Greg Jarrett, who was standing in for Sean Hannity: 'And I just think it's really wrong. I would expect instead that Joe Biden and some of these political leaders...
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared ultrathin panties that a woman can wear during oral sex to prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Lorals for Protection, sold by the Los Angeles-based Lorals, received FDA approval for its ability to prevent the transmission of STIs during oral sex, while still allowing for the woman wearing to experience pleasure. The product is intended for people who either suffer from an STI, have a previous condition that makes them want to take more caution when engaging in oral sex, or have another condition that could make oral sex worrying for them. These types of products have been sought after in the past, and the creators are hoping that it can replace dental dams as an effective way to help people have safe oral sex. New York City Mayor Eric Adams urged the public to do their part in snuffing out lazy cops on the subway beat during his State of the City speech on Tuesday, while also vowing to crack down on surging violence in the city.    During the question and answer portion of the speech, Adams, a former transit police officer and NYPD captain, was asked about officers being on their phones on the platforms of stations instead of being on trains.  Adams said that both the public and good police officers are frustrated by those in uniform who spend their time scrolling instead of patrolling. Adams took office this year with a central focus on making the city feel safe, but violent crime rates have climbed since the pandemic, according to crime stats (pictured)  The mayor's speech was full of hope and promises on Tuesday, but the first 3 1/2 months of his administration have been beset by a string of high-profile violent incidents, with last week's shooting on a subway train the most terrifying and public of all. A family living near a country club in Massachusetts won $4.9 million in damages after being 'terrorized with golf balls' that obliterated the side of their house, shattered nearly all of their windows, and forced neighborhood children to wear helmets while playing outside.  In 2017, Erik and Athina Tenczar purchased what they thought was their dream house at Indian Pond Estates in Kingston, Massachusetts.  Then golf season began - and it became their nightmare. Over the years, the couple, who are raising three young daughters at the home, have collected nearly 700 balls on their property, many of which sounded like gunshots as they hit the side of their house. 'When it hits, it sounds like a gunshot,' Athina Tenczar, 36, told the Boston Globe. 'It's very scary.' After years of worrying for their family's safety, and claiming they got little to no response from the country club, the couple decided to pursue legal action against Indian Pond Country Club for trespass over the continual bombardment, their attorney Bob Galvin told DailyMail.com.  'We're always on edge,' Erik Tenczar, 43, added. 'It's...
When it comes to snoring, women can be as noisy as Hoovers – and men make a racket as loud as a flushing toilet. Thirty per cent of men say they are regularly kept awake by their snoring partners. But in a survey of 2,000 Britons just 21 per cent of women made the same complaint. There was also a difference in people’s perception of how loud the snoring was. The average volume of Britain’s estimated 15million snorers is 60 decibels – or how loud a normal conversation sounds. An Indianapolis man who vanished 10 day ago during a West Coast RV trip has been found dead on a mountain in Nevada, where his wife was discovered alive.  The couple's nephew, Travis Peters, said that Ron Barker, 72, and Beverly Barker, 69, were found on Tuesday evening west of Silver Peak, Nevada - a remote area located more than three hours northwest of Las Vegas. The husband was deceased, while the wife was said to being 'doing ok,' according to Peters. The woman was airlifted to a hospital in Reno for treatment. Travis wrote late on Tuesday night, hours after the rescue, Ron and Beverly's daughters received a text message from one of their parents' phones, which read: 'Help.'  'That text message was trying to send out and I can only assume that as Bev was airlifted to the hospital, or perhaps their belongings were brought down the mountain that message finally came through..... but now we know it arrived too late,' the nephew wrote.   It was not immediately known how or when Ron Barker died, or how the...

Peloton trolled the new Sex and the City reboot on Sunday with a new commercial bringing back a beloved character that died in its first episode. The reboot, entitled And Just Like That, shocked fans on Thursday by killing off main character Carrie Bradshaw's husband, Mr. Big. He was seen in the show riding his Peloton bike when he had a heart attack. To get back at the show, Peloton released a new ad, posted to Instagram Sunday night, opening up on a fireplace before zooming out to reveal Chris Noth, as Mr. Big sitting next to a woman on a couch and drinking wine. 'To new beginnings,' he toasts the woman, who replies the same way, before telling him: 'You look great.' Barn owls have the same special neurons — 'place cells' — that let humans make mental maps of their surroundings and these may aid their navigation while flying. This is the conclusion of a study led by researchers at the Israel Institute of Technology, who recorded the birds' brain activity as they flew back-and-forth.  Place cells are known to exist not only in humans, but also other mammals like rodents and bats. They have also been detected in tufted titmice as they walk. However, this is the first time that evidence for place cells — which fire at a high rate when an animal visits a particular location — has ever been seen in birds in flight. According to the team, the fact that place cells are seen in both mammals and non-mammals suggests that they likely evolved millions of years ago. On Tuesday, Chris Hayes referenced a report in The Daily Beast noting how Republican candidates have quite effectively used President Joe Biden’s Covid policies to solicit political donations. Earlier this month, Biden announced he was going to ask the Department of Labor to require employers with 100 or more workers to either mandate their employees get the vaccine or tested once a week. The Beast piece contained a damning quote from a previous report about Fox News in which one anonymous employee said that anti-Covid mandate and vaccine-skeptical segments are “great for ratings.” Another current employee said there aren’t many topics that get “our viewers more excited or engaged than those kinds of segments.” “I’m sure it’s probably true,” said Hayes. “They kind of know what they’re doing over there. The issue rates, so that’s why leaning into it, despite the fact that it might get their own viewers sick or killed.” He then pointed to Fox Corporation’s own vaccine policy, under which employees must either get vaccinated or be tested every day. “Daily testing,” mused Hayes. “That is five...
An R Kelly accuser testified at the singer's ongoing federal trial in New York that the R&B star ordered her to have sex with a young man he called 'Nephew' while he watched as punishment from breaking one of his rules. Stone age ravers would dance in a strange 'psychedelic way' with elk teeth tied around their bodies, ratting percussively as they moved, a study has revealed. A study of 8,000 year old elk teeth discovered at the Yuzhniy Oleniy Ostrov burial site in Russia revealed the unusual dancing practice, say researchers from Finland.  Wear marks on the teeth, as well as their location within the graves, indicated that the objects were used as 'rattlers' rather than as a simple ornament.  'Ornaments composed of elk teeth suspended from or sown on to clothing emit a loud rattling noise when moving,' say the team from the University of Helsinki.  Wearing the rattlers while dancing made it easier for the stone age ravers to immerse themselves in the soundscape, letting the sound and rhythm 'take control,' they said. The authors discovered the link between dancing by exploring wear marks on the teeth, then recreating an elk teeth suit, wearing it while dancing for six hours and comparing the marks on those teeth with the 8,000 year old fossils.  Stone age ravers would dance...

Donald Trump's legal team is still scrambling to nail down its defense strategy as a deadline looms at noon on Tuesday for the former president to reply to a charge of incitement of insurrection brought by the House last month. Over the weekend, Trump split with his previous team of lawyers, with reports indicating they were unwilling to center their legal strategy on election fraud claims. His new lawyers, which were announced Sunday, have not indicated what defense they have planned for the 45th president. Those who will represent Trump in the Senate trial next week are David Schoen, a Fox News commentator and former counsel to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and Bruce Castor, a former county prosecutor in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania – where Trump's campaign sued over claims of fraudulently counting mail-in ballots. The team shake-up and lack of legal strategy maintains as there's just one week left before the former president's impeachment trial is set to start in the Senate. On Monday, pre-trial briefs are due. Democrats in the House voted to impeach Trump for a second...

Mariana and Daisy danced to Megan Thee Stallion's hit song 'Savage.' Mariana Morais and Daisy Keech displayed their fantastic figures in teeny bikinis while dancing inside a cenote. On Friday, Mariana shared a video of the two models taking a TikTok challenge underground during their trip to Tulum, Mexico. The Clubhouse members were getting their groove on to a slowed-down version of rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s smash hit, “Savage.” They performed the same choreographed moves that have been spreading across TikTok like wildfire for months now, but their version of the dance challenge was considerably slower. Mariana and Daisy were inside the same dark underground cave that has made an appearance in a few of their TikTok videos. A South Carolina doctor performed an experiment to prove that a person's oxygen levels do not drop while they wear a mask. Dr. Megan Hall, a pediatrician in South Carolina, hit out at those who say they can't breathe with a mask on, as well as conspiracy theorists who have argued — without any scientific evidence — that wearing a face mask is unsafe because it makes people 're-breath their exhaled carbon dioxide.' To prove that this is not at all the case, the MD measured her own oxygen levels and heart rate while mask-free, then with both a surgical mask and an N95 mask, and showed on a monitor that her numbers remained the same. Dr Kathleen Jourdan, 31, allegedly shot her husband, Joshua Jourdan, 35, on June 17 while the family was in their pickup truck along Interstate-80 in Nebraska. 1 Kathleen Jourdan is accused of shooting her husband to deathCredit: Denton County Sheriff’s Office State troopers called to the scene found the husband dead in the car's driver's seat, according to the Associated Press. Investigators told the AP that the Omaha couple had been arguing while they were driving and had pulled over. Joshua apparently called a friend to help them sort out their disagreement. Kathleen said that Joshua gave her "a look" while he was on the phone and began raising his arm, which prompted her to shoot him twice with a handgun that was in the center console, according to the Lincoln Journal Star. Jourdan told authorities that she feared for her life and the lives of her two sons, who were...
Yeah, we're still doing this. While the Trump administration was preparing a brief supporting the Republican states' Supreme Court case to strike down the entirety of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Vice President Joe Biden was speaking to the nation about health care. “Mr. President, drop the lawsuit. Stop trying to get rid of the Affordable Care Act. Stop taking away people's health care and their peace of mind. Now more than ever, strop trying to steal their peace of mind." Good luck with that. Biden pointed out that COVID-19, which is now ravaging the U.S., will become a preexisting condition that insurance companies could deny coverage for if that prohibition is overturned with the law. "Some survivors will experience lasting health impacts—like lung scarring and heart damage," he said. "And if Donald Trump prevails in court, insurers would be allowed to strip away coverage or jack up premiums simply because of their battle with the coronavirus," Biden said. "I cannot comprehend the cruelty he is inflicting on the very people he is supposed to serve," he said. We need a Congress to...
It began with a plume of brilliant white smoke, billowing silently from the volcano's rugged crater before mushrooming into an ominous black cloud. By the time their tour guide had yelled at them to take cover it was too late for newlyweds Matthew and Lauren Urey. The couple from Richmond, Virginia, were soon engulfed in a suffocating fog of molten ash, scorching their flesh, pummeling them with debris and plunging their dream honeymoon into a living hell. 'My body was literally sizzling,' said Lauren, 33, fighting back tears in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com. 'I was holding Matt's hand and I just kept telling him I loved him because I thought it was only seconds before we would both die.' Matthew, 36, added: 'It was darker than the darkest nights you've ever seen. It was scalding hot, agonizing, we were getting pelted with rocks. 'I actually thought I had gone blind because I couldn't see a thing. I touched my face afterwards expecting my eyes to be gone. I had forgotten I had sunglasses on and they were completely covered...
You don’t know what you got till it’s gone. Those who call themselves “huggers” have potentially been without for months now — and there’s good reason why that might be impacting their mental health during coronavirus lockdown, according to a new study. Social scientists have discovered that, for some, the craving for human touch is influenced by a variety of factors, including our genes. University of Arizona professor Kory Floyd, whose research was published this week in Communication Monographs, discussed the inherited interplay between skin-on-skin touch and the psyche. “There’s something special about touch that I think relates back to the fact that we, as human beings, are born in such a state of immaturity that we have no ability to take care of our own needs,” said Floyd in an article on the university’s website. “Touch equals survival as infants. If we don’t have someone touching us and helping to meet our needs, then we don’t survive.” For those who live alone or limiting their in-person interactions during the pandemic might be suffering from hereditary “skin hunger,” he explained. “Just...

Daddy daycare is booming. A new survey of families in the UK has found that fathers are pitching in 58% more with child care than they did prior to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new report by the Office for National Statistics. In 2015, a similar study found that men were taking on only 39% of the amount of child care women handled — now, their parenting productivity compared to moms is up to 66%. The current survey, which polled 1,300 households between March 28 and April 26, also discovered that men’s weekly hours of work outside the household fell by an average of 11%. UK-based parenting think-tank the Fatherhood Institute has calculated that for men to maintain pandemic levels of child care once the self-isolation period ends, they will need an extra eight hours of free time from other duties, namely their professions. Meanwhile in the US, a poll by Morning Consult for the New York Times reveals that moms and dads may not be appreciating each others’ efforts when it comes to housework, child care and home...
