Authorities announced the charges on Wednesday, two days after Erin Merdy, 30, was found wandering barefoot and soaking wet, about 2 miles from where children were discovered at the water's edge off of Brooklyn's Coney Island boardwalk. The city medical examiner determined Tuesday that 7-year-old Zachary Merdy, 4-year-old Liliana Merdy and 3-month-old Oliver Bondarev died by drowning. Merdy has undergone a psychiatric evaluation and remained in the hospital Wednesday, according to police. Relatives have said in media interviews that Merdy appeared to have been struggling with the children and was suffering from post-partum depression.     A 'beloved' cancer survivor, mother-to-be and a 22-year-old on a birthright trip to Israel have been named among the American victims of a terrorist attack in Jerusalem on Saturday night.  In total, eight people were wounded in the shooting that happened near David's Tomb on Mount Zion, just outside the Old City walls. Five of the victims are American.  The gunman, named as East Jerusalem resident Amir Sidawi, opened fire at two locations around 6:30 pm Eastern time.     An 18-year-old woman who recently gave birth was allegedly murdered by her 26-year-old 'domestic abuser' boyfriend inside her Brooklyn home, police said.  Officers arrested Dylan Diaz on Friday, who was charged with the murder of Damaris Maravilla after police found her dead, lying face up on a bed with trauma to her body inside the house hours earlier. A neighbor claimed Diaz would often beat Maravilla, the mother of his six-month-old child, with police being called into the domicile at least four times in the past, the New York Daily News reported.  As Maravilla was removed from the home by police, her family was pictured looking on in heartbreak over the young woman's death.     A career criminal with 19 prior arrests and three assault convictions has become the latest face of NYC's soaring crime wave after he was charged with the murder of an innocent mom-of-four shot dead while walking her dog to a Brooklyn bodega.    Officers tracked down Namel Colon, 36, at a Chinese restaurant in Queens after the suspect evaded capture for nearly two months following the January 2 shooting inside Salim Smoke Shop in Bedford-Stuyvesant that left dogwalker Jennifer Ynoa, 36, and her year-old pet pit bull dead.     A Brooklyn mom was shot to death while attending a memorial service for her friend who had been executed hours earlier after accidentally stepping on a gang member's foot, it has been reported. Shalimar Birkett, 32, was shot in the head Monday night as residents in the Brownsville neighborhood gathered for a vigil for Miles Bobbsemple, 31, the New York Daily News reported. The suspected gangbanger's name was not revealed. Birkett, a mother of two young boys, was attending Bobbsemple's vigil around 11pm when the gunman hopped out of a car that had stopped down the block and opened fire, the outlet reported. Birkett was rushed to a local hospital where she died. The mother was taken into custody and brought to the 60th Precinct.  She will at least face charges for improper disposal of human remains — though more charges are possible depending on how the infant died, according to police.  “She’s got psych issues,” a police source said.
