FOLLOWING revelations that former 49ers defensive back Phillip Adams struggled with CTE before his killing rampage, the horrific condition is back in the news. Often associated with pro athletes, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a disease caused by repeated blows to the head. The condition is caused by repeated head trauma, can trigger violent behavior, and paranoia, and has been blamed for a string of horrific crimes by Phillip Adams, Kellen Winslow, Aaron Hernandez and even OJ Simpson. In 2017, scientists at Boston University studied the brains of 111 dead NFL players and found evidence of the disease in 110 of those samples. Christopher Nowinski, a former pro-wrestler who co-founded Boston University's CTE Center, said the research suggests that at least 50 per cent of NFL footballers have CTE. He said: "Our study in 2017 of the NFL brains donated from 2008 to 2015 - we had 99 per cent of those brains had CTE. "Those brains came from almost 10 per cent of NFL players who had died in that period. "There's an interesting analysis based of that...

Doctors are warning people not to take part in the viral new 'Milk Crate Challenge,' a dangerous game wherein people climb up increasingly higher stacks of milk crates until most inevitably fall and face potentially serious injury. The Milk Crate Challenge has been picking up steam all month, with countless people filming themselves performing the treacherous stunt as friends watch on. Unsurprisingly, many of the videos culminate in disaster, as the people attempting the challenge step onto a tower of crates too unsteady to support them, sending them toppling to the ground — and often slamming head or back-first into crates along the way. The troubling trend now has doctors speaking out, warning people that it's not only dangerous, but also selfish to during a time when so many hospitals are already overrun and overtaxed by COVID patients. Around 6 a.m. on October 5, Diana Sevilla hopped into her car and headed for her gig as an accountant — one of two jobs she was working at the time — with perhaps a stop for a workout on the way. But she never made it to either destination. The 46-year-old single mom was on Interstate 225 when her Mazda SUV was struck by a Dodge Charger piloted by Iris Yurivia Rascon-Orona, a 21-year-old who investigators believe was drunk; toxicology reports are pending. Rascon-Orona was going in the wrong direction — south in the northbound lanes — when she crashed head-on into Sevilla's car. Today, Sevilla is hospitalized in a medically induced coma owing largely to a brain injury so severe that part of her skull had to be removed to accommodate swelling. She also has a range of other medical issues that will take months or longer to heal should she be fortunate enough to survive — which is hardly guaranteed at this point. According to attorney Kurt Zaner of Zaner Harden Law, who represents Sevilla's family, including teenage...
