The Polish leader today defended Finland's party-loving Prime Minister, saying he was 'very happy' to see her enjoying a night out. Sanna Marin has made headlines across the globe after she was captured on video having a raucous evening on the town with friends. She yesterday insisted that 'everyone needs a fun and relaxed evening out' and that she should be allowed to let her hair down after spending most of her time juggling the responsibilities of governing and being a mother. The 36-year-old, who is married, added that 'nothing inappropriate' happens in the clip that shows her dancing hip-to-hip with male pop singer Olavi Uusivirta in Helsinki's Klubi nightclub at 4am, and said her only regret is that 'private' videos had made it into the public domain. Ms Marin said she has also submitted to a drugs test to prove her innocence after more footage taken earlier in the evening and which leaked yesterday showed her dancing with friends in a house while someone in the background shouts 'flour gang'. 'Flour' is Finnish slang often used to refer to cocaine....

The Detroit Tigers could’ve gotten a walk-off win on a Miguel Cabrera walk but the ump had other plans and the legend was less than pleased. In a season that has already been a dream for MLB legend Miguel Cabrera in terms of his individual accomplishments, the Detroit Tigers veteran was looking to give his team a lift in a moment when they needed it on Wednesday afternoon against the Minnesota Twins. The game was tied at 2-2 in the top of the ninth inning when Cabrera came up to bat with the bases juiced and only one out against Detroit, he drew a full count and had the chance to get an RBI on the go-ahead run if he could draw a walk. He watched the pitch come in and saw it tail down out of the zone, thinking he had done his job and drawn the base on balls. The home plate umpire, Charlie Ramos, had other plans.Miguel Cabrera left furious after awful strike call that robbed Tigers of go-ahead walkRamos wrung Cabrera up as he called strike...

After the Ravens made a surprising move by selecting Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton with the 14th overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft on Thursday night, another eye-popping move came soon after. The Ravens traded wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and a third-round pick to the Arizona Cardinals for the No. 23 overall pick, which they later sent to the Buffalo Bills for the No. 25 pick and the No. 130 pick in the fourth round. The Ravens used the 25th pick to select Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum. Brown, who was shipped to Arizona along with the No. 100 overall pick, was the Ravens’ leading wide receiver last season. He was coming off a career year, finishing with 91 catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns despite an injury-hampered season for quarterback Lamar Jackson. General manager Eric DeCosta told reporters after the first round Thursday night that the Brown trade was a “complicated topic.” DeCosta said Brown requested a trade after the 8-9 season, stating “he was not happy and wanting to play elsewhere.” Brown started raising speculation about...

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, isn’t thrilled with the platform’s TikTok competitor Reels. He discussed the format, which launched in the US in August, during an interview with The News Brig’s Decoder podcast today. “I’m not yet happy with it,” he says. “We’re growing both in terms of how much people are sharing and how much people are consuming, but we have a long way to go. And we have to be honest that TikTok is ahead.” He went on to say the team is mostly focused on “table stakes” right now, and not honed in on how to differentiate itself. Specifically, he calls out TikTok’s innovative creative tools, like filters and effects that spur new video meme formats as something Instagram isn’t making on its own yet but needs to eventually do. “I think we have to get better at building more powerful and creative tools that aren’t necessarily a meme or a sort of moment in a package, but give people who are more creative than us and make content for a living the ability...
Dear Amy: I just got out of a nine-year relationship with a man I’m just now realizing was manipulative and mean. Unfortunately, he developed a drinking problem during our time together. Columnist Amy Dickinson (Bill Hogan/Chicago Tribune)  He broke things off twice (against my wishes), and I was the one who had to move out and lose my home and my dog, etc. After being apart this time, I started to see some things I had ignored before because I loved him so much. He is emotionally abusive at times, as we try to separate our items and as I try to purchase the house from him. He has said things like, “If you don’t drop this, I will take everything, and you’ll get nothing.” Or throwing it in my face that he’s glad we never got married. I started therapy and have been going now for two years. During that time, my therapist has tried to guide me toward what’s healthy, but I think she knew I wasn’t ready to hear it. I was so in love. Rep. Steve King's colleagues, on both sides of the aisle, aren't sad to see the Iowa Republican leave the House after 18 years. While Democrats have long denounced King over incendiary and what they call racist language, it was Republicans who facilitated his departure. Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California, in one of his first moves as House minority leader, in January 2019 stripped King of all committee assignments after he appeared to wonder when "white supremacist" and "white nationalist" became offensive terms. That included King's membership on the House Agriculture Committee, a key post for a rural-district lawmaker. Several local Republicans went on to challenge King for renomination in his northwest Iowa district, spurred by King's history of head-turning remarks. In early June, state Sen. Randy Feenstra beat King in the Republican primary, and five months later, won the seat. King was among eight House members who lost renomination bids in 2020. The bill of particulars against King is long. For instance, in July 2013, speaking about proposed immigration legislation, King said of illegal immigrants: "For every one who's...
Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said today he was happy that 'lawless terrorist' Donald Trump was leaving the White House. It comes after Trump was last month 'talked out of' launching strikes on Iran after a UN report showed a massive increase in its nuclear stockpiles.  Trump also ordered the assassination of Iran's top ranking general at the start of this year, Qassem Soleimani, who marshalled terror factions to further Tehran's ambitions throughout the Middle East.   Iranian President Hassan Rouhani speaking during a press conference in Tehran, Iran, 14 December 2020 US President Donald Trump waits to address the United Nations General Assembly at its headquarters in New York, United States, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 Biden's allies believe that Trump's decision to pull out an Obama-era nuclear deal with Tehran in 2018 and the hardline he took only made the regime more of...
