Former President Donald Trump told Republican Leader Mitch McConnell that if he could get Georgia's Gov. Brian Kemp to overturn now President Joe Biden's 2020 win in his state officials in Michigan and Pennsylvania would follow.  CNN obtained an excerpt Wednesday of the forthcoming book This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns - which details some of the conversations the ex-president had following his November 2020 election loss.   'I've been calling folks in those states and they're with us,' Trump reportedly told McConnell and other Senate GOP leaders during a phone call in December 2020 about Pennsylvania and Michigan.   After the call, McConnell told his colleagues, 'We've got to stay focused on Georgia,' the book said.  McConnell was referencing the two run-off Senate races slated for January 5 that would determine which party held the majority - races the Democrats won.  Former President Donald Trump (pictured) told Republican Leader Mitch McConnell that if he could get Georgia's Gov. President Joe Biden admitted on Wednesday night that he wished his plan to send 500 million Covid-19 tests to people's homes came to him earlier - despite promising nearly three months ago to increase the supply by 'nearly 300 million.'  Just two days until Christmas, Americans nationwide are still waiting in long lines for Covid-19 tests and even longer for their results amid a massive spike in demand. Three major studies have already confirmed the Omicron variant is noticeably milder than Delta, the previous dominant strain. In the United Kingdom, Covid patients with Omicron were 20 to 25 percent less likely to need hospitalization, according to one study. Another paper found Omicron was up to 45 percent less likely to lead to hospitalization than Delta, based on 300,000 people in England. But Biden was forced to defend his administration's response to the highly-contagious Omicron variant as it rips through all 50 states. He told ABC host David Muir that 'nothing's been good enough' though repeated his and his top officials' line that nobody 'saw it coming' as rapidly as it...
Chris Cuomo's book Deep Denial has been dropped by publisher Harper Collins following his firing from CNN amid sexual harassment allegations against him, and after it was revealed the great extent to which he'd tried to help his politician brother Andrew out of his sex pest scandal.  The book was due to be published in January. It promised to 'analyze the harsh truths' that were exposed by 'the pandemic and the Trump years' and work out how America could fix itself.  In light of Cuomo's firing, it will not be published by HarperCollins. Cuomo was fired by CNN on Saturday after growing public outrage over how he'd used his influence as a journalist and connections to investigate some of the women accusing his brother of sexual misconduct.  Now, Chris has also been accused now of sexual harassment by a former colleague from ABC.  Chris Cuomo's book, Deep Denial, that was due to be published in just over a month, has been dropped by HarperCollins CNN announced on Saturday that it was firing Cuomo because after the true extent of his...
CHRIS EUBANK Jr is on the verge of handing over more than £66,000 to charity after a microwave he signed in Newcastle went up for sale on eBay. The middleweight boxer promised to match whatever the kitchen appliance sold for - and this morning it had reached a hefty amount. 3Chris Eubank Jr has been left as stunned as all of us at the microwave saleCredit: Twitter/ChrisEubankJr 3The boxer could barely believe a fan wanted him to sign the kitchen appliance 3Chris Eubank Jr shared the eBay listing of the microwave he signed - it appears to have been sold for more than £66,000Credit: Twitter @ChrisEubankJr Unsurprisingly, Eubank Jr was shocked at how things had snowballed, writing on Twitter: "Well that escalated quickly." The listing is no longer available, presumably because the auction has ended. After attending a press conference last Thursday at St James' Park for his fight against Wanik Awdijan, he took a stroll through Newcastle. But after stopping for a number of selfies and the odd autograph, one plucky lad ran up to him carrying the kitchen...
A federal bankruptcy judge has ruled that San Jose Sharks winger Evander Kane must face discovery in a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims he reneged on a promise to pay her as much as $3 million if she aborted their unborn child. Hope Parker, who first sued Kane in California in 2018, can now seek testimony and electronic correspondences from the 30-year-old NHL star. Parker claims to have undergone two abortions after being impregnated by Kane, who allegedly paid her $125,000 for the second, but refused to do so a third time until he offered her 'between two million and three million dollars,' according to court filings obtained by DailyMail.com.  He then allegedly changed his mind and refused to pay, even after she shared proof of the abortion with him. Kane filed for bankruptcy in January after amassing more than $28 million in debts, according to court filings reviewed by DailyMail.com.  In response to Kane's bankruptcy filing, Parker filed a separate case within Chapter 7 to prevent him from being able to walk away from any debts he...
While the Taliban's dramatic takeover of Afghanistan was met with little resistance, clear signs of defiance were appearing on Thursday. In an op-ed published in The Washington Post, the son of Afghanistan's most famed anti-Taliban fighter claimed to have the forces to mount an effective resistance, but he called on the United States to supply arms and ammunition to his militia. Americans owe $6.5 trillion for recent wars in interest alone "I write from the Panjshir Valley today, ready to follow in my father's footsteps, with mujahideen fighters who are prepared to once again take on the Taliban," Ahmad Massoud said, adding that "America can still be a great arsenal of democracy" by supporting his fighters. Ahmad Massoud is seen at his home in Panjshir Valley, Afghanistan, September 5, 2019. REZA/Getty In Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday that a Taliban resistance was forming in Afghanistan led by ousted Vice President Amrullah Saleh and Massoud. "The Taliban doesn't control the whole territory of Afghanistan," Lavrov told reporters. On the political front, the Taliban continued...
A 62-year-old Pentagon linguist has been jailed for 23 years for giving her Hezbollah-linked Lebanese love interest a list of US spies' names that she had been keeping under her mattress.   Mariam Taha Thompson sobbed as she was sentenced on Wednesday in Washington's federal court, saying: 'I just wanted someone to love me in my old age.'  She had never met the man in person, and was introduced to him on social media by her Lebanese relatives on social media in 2019.  The man, who is not named in the indictment, asked her to marry him when she retired and move to Lebanon. She agreed, and started video-chatting with him, convinced that they'd be a couple once she quit her job.  Instead, she was arrested in Iraq in February 2020 after turning over the names of eight US spies and ten US targets to him in the wake of an airstrike that killed Iranian General Quasem Soleimani.  At her sentencing hearing on Wednesday, Thompson - who was born in Lebanon but became a naturalized US citizen - said she was...
House pushes $50 million to protect consumers from dangerous imports after USA TODAY investigative report Fauci sees sobering data on South Africa variant; Mardi Gras crackdown; Valentines Day message of hope from Biden: Live COVID-19 updates I am my elderly husband’s caretaker, driver, butler and whipping post. He promised to leave his grandson his home — is that fair to me? THE MONEYIST Dear Moneyist, I am a married woman, age 69, and my husband is 79. I am his second wife and we have been married for 22 years. He is not in the best of health and requires my care. He suffers with debilitating arthritic pain and is not able to do anything except his daily living needs, watching TV and directing me to what I need to do. I am now responsible of taking care of everything in and outside of the home. He no longer drives because of his failing vision, so I am my husband’s caretaker, driver, butler and the whipping post. I took a vow for better or worse, but I...
"I'm looking forward to making sure there’s a Black woman on the Supreme Court, to make sure we, in fact, get every representation," then-candidate Joe Biden promised. That was way back in the before times, in the South Carolina debate last February. Now poised to fulfill that promise as president-elect (when a vacancy opens), Biden needs a Senate that will do it. One that doesn't have Mitch McConnell as majority leader. That means getting Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock to the Senate and ending McConnell's stranglehold on that body. Certainly if there is any hope at all of expanding the courts to dilute the polluting effects of Trump and McConnell—admittedly a real long shot now—the Democrats must have the majority. But even for a Supreme Court that finally looks a little like America, the Court Biden says he wants, Georgia is the key. "The lesson that we learned from the recent Supreme Court nominations is that Mitch McConnell's rule around judges is power," National Women’s Law Center President Fatima Goss Graves told Irin Carmon at New York magazine. "That is the only...
Linda Greenfield-Thomas, Biden's pick for UN ambassador President-elect Joe Biden repeatedly promised an administration that looks like the United States of America, and he made a huge initial step on that when he chose Kamala Harris as his vice president. But Black, Latino, and Asian American lawmakers and activists are warning Biden that the senior administration officials he’s chosen so far are falling short of that promise. The only Black members Biden has named to his Cabinet so far are Linda Greenfield-Thomas as ambassador to the United Nations and Cecilia Rouse as head of the Council of Economic Advisers. Notably, while both will be members of Biden’s Cabinet, both are in roles that Donald Trump had demoted from being cabinet-level, highlighting the fact that these aren’t the most powerful roles in a presidential Cabinet. Last week, before the announcement of Rouse, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn expressed disappointment, saying “so far it’s not good.” Similarly, Biden has chosen Alejandro Mayorkas, a Cuban immigrant, as his homeland security secretary, but Latino lawmakers and activists are pressing for more representation, and more diversity...
DERECK CHISORA is desperate to get past Oleksandr Usyk so he can fight Tyson Fury for a third time. And he even claimed the Gypsy King 'owes' and 'promised' him a trilogy bout. 5Dereck Chisora believes he is 'owed' another fight with Tyson Fury if he beats Oleksandr UsykCredit: ©Mark Robinson Ltd Chisora suffered defeats in London to Fury in July 2011 and again in November 2014 - but reckons he is due another shot at the WBC heavyweight king. Del Boy told Sky Sports: "I think it would be a great fight to have with ‘The Gypsy King’ because he’s always promised me a third fight.  "He owes me anyway because we speak every day, and he owes me that fight. "He’s always saying he wants to give me another fight, so he’s a man of his word, so that would be the fight I would like to have. "It’s just business. After all, so if it happens, it happens." But first Chisora needs to get past the mighty challenge of Usyk. The pair will go head to head...
Donald Trump blasted Joe Biden Tuesday claiming he's in favor of 'executing' newborns after he vowed during a town hall the night before that to make Roe v. Wade the law of the land if elected – as the president continues to recover from coronavirus from the White House residence. 'Biden and Democrats just clarified the fact that they are fully in favor of (very) LATE TERM ABORTION, right up until the time of birth, and beyond - which would be execution,' Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. 'Biden even endorsed the Governor of Virginia, who stated this clearly for all to hear. GET OUT & VOTE!!!' Trump was referencing the 77-year-old candidate campaigning earlier this election cycle with Virginia Governor Ralph Northam – who has rolled back restrictions on abortion in his state this year. Northam signed legislation in April removing regulations requiring those seeking an abortion to undergo an ultrasound receive counseling on alternatives prior to the procedure. Biden claimed during a town hall Monday night that Trump's Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett could threaten women's right to an...
