Spencer Platt, Getty Images Former President Donald Trump’s Save America leadership PAC remains flush with cash as the defacto leader of the Republican Party withholds donations to GOP candidates but has spent heavily on legal bills and personal expenses, including paying Melania Trump’s fashion designer $18,000 last month. Super PACs and party committees disclosed their August finances on Tuesday. The reports offered some jaw-dropping looks into political fundraising and spending with the midterm elections only seven weeks away. Washington Post reporter Isaac Stanley-Becker pointed out that Trump’s PAC reported $18,000 of spending on “Strategy Consulting” from Herve Pierre registered to a 5th Avenue address in New York City. Former President Donald Trump complained Thursday that the FBI made him look like a 'slob' after a Department of Justice filing released Tuesday showed a photo of classified documents strewn on the floor of what's presumably an office space at Mar-a-Lago.  'A lot of people think that when you walk into my office, I have confidential documents or whatever it may be - all declassified - but I had confidential documents spread out all over my floor. Like a slob,' Trump said Thursday morning on the John Fredericks Radio Show. 'Like I'm sitting there reading these documents all day long or somebody else would be.'  The ex-president had called into the right-leaning TV network to push that the DOJ's move was 'dishonest,' because investigators 'put them there in a messy fashion, and then they took a picture and they released it to the public.'  Former President Donald Trump complained Thursday that the FBI made him look like a 'slob' after a Department of Justice filing released Tuesday showed a photo of classified documents strewn on the floor of what's presumably an...
Hervé Pierre, Melania Trump’s former stylist, has addressed a recent report that he was paid $60,000 by the Save America PAC in four installments for “strategy consulting,” ambiguous work that he confirmed was unrelated to his official fashion duties, according to WWD. Pierre said that the $60,000 was not related to any work he did during Trump’s time in office. He also said that the money was not tied to his work in fashion. Pierre occasionally consults with the former first lady about her fashion choices, WWD reported. But that accounted for as little as 5 percent of his work for her, he said. “As with every other first lady, there is an after the White House life, which involves many other aspects than fashion. I am lucky to have worked in prestigious houses, to have designed [costumes] for ballets and more recently to work in home decor. There are many upcoming projects in this after-the-White House [stage.]” Pierre added, “It’s a great honor for me and it is very creative to give my viewpoint on some...
The political fund created to push former President Donald Trump's claims of widespread voter fraud paid $60,000 to a fashion designer for former First Lady Melania Trump, according to a new report from USA Today. The Federal Elections Commission's (FEC) records show that the Trump-backed political action committee Save America paid Hervé Pierre Braillard $60,000. The payments were reportedly broken down into four installments paid between April 7 and June 24. Although the payments were said to be made for “strategy consulting," it appears unclear what the payments were actually made for. READ MORE: Trump, allies prep to launch voter fraud battle in Georgia over Brian Kemp's gubernatorial primary win USA Today notes that the FEC has specific regulations regarding the purchase of clothing with campaign funding. "The Federal Election Commission does not allow candidate committees, which are formed to raise money for a specific candidate, to spend money on personal items, including clothing," the news outlet reported. "But Save America is not a candidate committee, it's a leadership PAC, originally designed for politicians to raise and give...
Apart from Joan Collins in Dynasty and Princess Diana, perhaps no one defined the upper echelons of 1980s fashion quite like Ivana Trump who died this week at the age of 73. Mrs. Trump, with her iconic bleached beehive, sparkling Bob Mackie frocks, and bright manicures dyed to match her ensemble, embodied the excesses, fun, and colors that swept fashion in the 1980s. Here, Fashion Notes takes you on a pictorial trip through Mrs. Trump’s style. Ivana Trump and Donald Trump attend Al D’Amato Fundraiser on January 10, 1985 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. Ivana Trump's sudden death at the age of 73 has shone a light on the impressive rise of Donald Trump's former wife, from poor Czech immigrant to business tycoon. Her success - fueled by a hefty $14 million divorce settlement - was so notable that she even landed a cameo role in 1996 movie hit The First Wives Club. That saw Ivana advise three Manhattan divorcees - played by Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton - 'Don't get mad, get everything.'  And the socialite kept herself very busy after splitting from Donald, turning her attention to fashion and jewelry lines, writing and a return to a modeling career that began during the 1970s.  At the time of Ivana's death, her fortune sat at an estimated $100 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth .  Ivana was born in the Czech city of Zlin in 1949, to electrical engineer father Miloš Zelníček and telephone operator mom Marie Zelníčková. She was a prodigious skier. And it was that talent - encouraged by her father - the key to her escape from behind the...

MEDIA WINNER: Trey Gowdy Fox News host Trey Gowdy eviscerated Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) on Sunday over his cocaine and sex party remarks, calling on the freshman representative to either name names or “admit what we suspect, which is that you made it up.” And the former Congressman from the great state of South Carolina didn’t just bring the receipts to debunk Cawthorn’s preposterous claims, he did so in an entertaining and hilarious fashion. Gowdy scoffed at Cawthorn’s attempts to compare Congress to the fictional characters on the Netflix series House of Cards, noting that the real-life congressional leaders had never pushed anyone in front of a train (as Kevin Spacey’s diabolical character so infamously did during the season 2 premiere). Decent members of Congress never get much press attention, Gowdy lamented, rattling off a humorous list of his former colleagues’ foibles, including Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC) idea of a “wild time” meaning “ordering dessert” and former Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA) being nicknamed “Milk” because he was a teetotaler. Either name names or admit you were lying, Gowdy openly...

For her first public appearance since leaving the White House, former First Lady Melania Trump wore a wardrobe favorite — a Burberry trench coat with a fresh, elongated manicure. While attending game four of the World Series on Saturday evening, Melania Trump chose a Burberry trench coat. Loyal Fashion Notes readers will remember that Mrs. Trump first wore this trench in July 2018 while visiting Belgium and then, again, in June 2019 with an icy blue Hermès scarf wrapped around her hair. Perhaps in a sign of independence from the constraints of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Trump wore a longer manicure than she typically wore while in the White House. In those days, she opted for a clean, professional French manicure. On Saturday, her nails seemed longer and sharper than ever. (Elsa/Getty Images) (AP Photo/David J. First Lady Jill Biden was dressed conservatively in a textured black suit to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican today, topping off her outfit with a traditional Catholic veil, or mantilla. The 70-year-old looked polished in her patterned black and navy blazer and below-the-knee skirt as she was pictured arriving at the San Damaso Courtyard on Friday before posing for photos with the Pope inside the Vatican. Though Dr. Biden has never explicitly described herself as Catholic, she regularly attends Mass with her husband, President Joe Biden.  Dr. Biden was sure to show a nod of respect to the Pope by opting for a black outfit and covering her hair with a black lace mantilla, which are worn to show piety while in the presence of God.  She also accessorized with a pair of pointed-toe pumps, gold bracelets, and one of her favorite glittering brooches, before adding a funky fashion touch courtesy of some textured fishnet-style nude tights.  First Lady Jill Biden was dressed conservatively in a textured black suit to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican today, topping off her outfit...
Fewer people will be dressing up as former President Donald Trump this Halloween , according to one of the biggest online websites for costume information. "We did have to mark down the Trump costumes significantly to move through the inventory," Chris Turk, spokesman for Yandy.com, said. Costumes of the 45th president are heavily discounted by retailers across the country, as people seem to be gearing up to go out as superheroes rather than politicians, a report said. FAUCI GIVES VERDICT ON TRICK-OR-TREATING FOR HALLOWEEN Yandy.com has previously featured politically inspired costumes such as a "Mail-in Ballot" outfit and a "Donna T. Rumpshaker." Yet, such outfits are more of a rarity this year, and many people feel burnt out following a grueling 2020 presidential election , according to the report. "This year, we decided not to do any political costumes because we thought everyone was tired of hearing and seeing it these last couple of years," Turk said. The price of the Rumpshaker outfit is now 30% off, and Party City's "Inflatable Leader...
A polka-dot dress that looks strikingly similar to a high-end designer style worn by the likes of Kate Middleton and Ivanka Trump has become a huge online fashion hit, sparking a frenzy among online shoppers.  The $580 silk frock, designed by British brand L.K. Bennett, features a navy and white polka dot print, a cream frilled collar, long sleeves and cream buttons, much like the $2,400 polka dot dress by celebrity-loved label Alessandra Rich.  The Alessandra Rich design, which is no longer available, has been worn by a host of A-listers over the years, including the Duchess of Cambridge, former First Daughter Ivanka, supermodel Christie Brinkley, and Suits star Abigail Spencer, who rocked the frock at her best friend Meghan Markle's wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018. Unsurprisingly, the A-list-approved design flew off the shelves - however now, a near-identical version has been released to fill the fashion gap left by the sold-out dress.    Inspiration: A $580 dress that looks near-identical to a celebrity-loved $2,400 Alessandra Rich design worn by stars like Kate Middleton and Ivanka Trump has become...

A source exclusively told Page Six that Ivana, 72, made her way over to where Roza, 36, was standing near the bar at upscale Greek restaurant Limani when she allegedly “asked her if she could feel her boobs.” “Sticking her hand down her blouse, she goes, ‘This is not sexual. It’s research,'” the shocked witness recounted, noting that Roza was dressed in a dangerously low-cut black top. Meghan McCain slammed Vogue Magazine on Wednesday for its 'intense, racist legacy' and contributions to a toxic fashion industry, after the magazine featured First Lady Jill Biden on its cover, but refused to feature Melania Trump when she was the first lady. She said she has had issues with the fashion magazine since it featured basketball star LeBron James and model Gisele Bundchen, resembling a World War I recruitment poster of a gorilla taking a white woman hostage in April 2008.  McCain also called out Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour for her history of refusing to feature models of color on her covers. Her comments came during a discussion on 'The View' of the new cover and the backlash it sparked by conservatives who called out the magazine for refusing to feature Melania Trump in 2017.  'The View' co-host Meghan McCain called out Vogue Magazine on Wednesday for its history of racism and its role in creating a toxic fashion industry Whoopi Goldberg opened the discussion, noting that the magazine referred to Dr. Biden as a 'first lady for all...
Meghan McCain went after Vogue for putting First Lady Jill Biden on their cover after snubbing Melania Trump of that honor — calling out the magazine’s “very, very problematic history.” The View hosts discussed the Vogue cover on Wednesday’s Hot Topics, Whoopi Goldberg noting that the magazine referred to Biden as a “first lady for all of us.” “Melania was not the first lady of all of us,” Joy Behar said, adding, “I think that Anna Wintour is very fashion conscience and the jacket that said, ‘I don’t really care, do you,’ she did not consider fashion-forward.” Behar went on to slam Donald Trump for not believing in science, cracking that they should be on the cover of “Unscientific America.” Both Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines noted that the Trump administration was particularly divisive — with Haines positing Vogue kept Melania off the cover in “an attempt to not get that backlash from consumers.” “They weren’t going to go anywhere near that,” she added. McCain, however, strayed from her co-hosts, revealing she has been “done with Vogue ever since they put a very racist cover with LeBron James and Gisele [Bündchen]...
First Lady Jill Biden has landed the August cover for American Vogue after the fashion magazine snubbed for a cover former First Lady Melania Trump during her four years in the White House. The cover, released on Tuesday, features Jill Biden in an Oscar de la Renta floral dress with Tiffany & Co. earrings on an outside balcony of the White House. Shot by famous celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, the cover is part of a multi-photo spread where Mrs. Biden poses alongside her husband, President Joe Biden. Vogue, August 2021. (Photo via Vogue, shot by Annie Leibovitz) The cover comes after Vogue infamously refused to offer a cover to Melania Trump during her time in the White House. It has been reported that Mrs. Trump turned down Vogue twice when they offered her a profile in the magazine but did not promise to feature her on the cover. In leaked audio recordings last year, Mrs. Trump said she did not “give a fuck about Vogue.” Mrs. Trump graced the cover in February 2005, wearing her couture John Galliano for Dior wedding dress. Canada's 'fashion fairy godmother' is being pushed out of society circles after she had dinner at Mar-a-Lago and posted an image of herself with Donald Trump on Instagram.   Suzanne Rogers, a socialite philanthropist who married Rogers telecom heir and Toronto Blue Jays owner Edward Rogers - worth $11.57 billion - in 2006, is as famous for her over-the-top fashion statements as she is for sharing her family's wealth.  But her years of goodwill backing up-and-coming fashion stars, investing millions in Suzanne Rogers Fashion Institute at the Ryerson School of Fashion and raising nearly $4 million children's charities were quickly erased after she faced fierce criticism for the snap with the former president.   'People in Canada hate (Trump) … It's image suicide,' a Canadian insider told Page Six.  'She's become persona non grata. Melania and Donald Trump debarked from their final ride with Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport minutes before his presidential term ended Wednesday. However, it was the former first lady’s outfit that caught the attention of fashion-obsessed social media users. Instead of the all-black ensemble Melania wore when she boarded her flight from Washington, D.C, which Vanity Fair said included a Chanel jacket, Dolce & Gabbana dress, Louboutin shoes and a Hermès Birkin bag, she stepped off the aircraft in a colorfully-patterned Gucci dress that retails for $3,700. Former First Lady Melania Trump channeled a kind of relaxed, poolside tranquility as she landed in Palm Beach, Florida, after departing the White House for the final time on Wednesday. In a 1970s-inspired patterned Gucci silk-wool blend dress in cream, orange, and navy, Mrs. Trump arrived back at her home at Mar-a-Lago appearing as though she is ready for a much-needed vacation following a long campaign cycle and transition period. The Gucci number, which retails for about $3,700, was paired with navy classic buckle ballerina flats by Roger Vivier and jet-black Saint Laurent sunglasses to block the sun. From the departure of Donald Trump from the White House to the swearing-in of Joe Biden, a look back at a historic day. Posted on 01/20/2021 at 10:09 p.m. Trump, another man He’s a Donald Trump as we had never seen him in four years. Visibly moved, the former President of the United States left the White House lawn aboard a helicopter. He made a point of thanking those present at his departure, without a word of anger, hatred or mockery. Bernie Sanders’ green mittens This is what he could call in his language a “fashion statement”, a fashion statement, literally. Bernie Sanders, an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic primary, arrived at the inauguration of the Biden administration with colorful mittens. According to Buzzfeed News, they are knitted by a teacher in Vermont from old sweaters and sweatshirts using recycled plastic.
Inauguration Day dawned with Melania Trump striding onto Air Force One, departing DC in the most expensive Jackie Kennedy Halloween costume ever put together (Chanel jacket, Dolce & Gabbana dress, Louboutins, huge sunglasses). Then, Jill Biden and Kamala Harris emerged for a pre-Inaugural church service wearing clothes that were fresher. You might consider it a reset from the exaggerated Trump look. Biden wore an ocean blue wool tweed coat and dress by Alexandra O’Neill’s New York-based label, Markarian. A representative wrote in a statement to The Daily Beast that the outfit was custom. As a sign of the times, O’Neill also made a matching face mask for the ensemble. The coat had velvet on its collar and cuffs, and the dress has a chiffon bodice and scalloped skirt. It was hand embroidered with Swarovski pearls and crystals by the Markarian team. “The color blue was chosen for the pieces to signify trust, confidence, and stability,” a press release read. While Melania Trump went out in a blaze of expensive European designers, Biden’s decision to elevate lesser known names must...
First Lady Melania Trump waved au revoir to the White House on Wednesday morning in a jet black ensemble mimicking the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, former creative director of Chanel. Mrs. Trump walked across the South Lawn for the final time during her husband’s first term in office wearing an off-the-runway Chanel cropped jacket from the French fashion house’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection. Underneath is a fitted black crepe sheath dress by Dolce & Gabbana, perhaps Mrs. Trump’s most loyal fashion duo. The dress, from the Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection, retails for about $2,155. The cropped Chanel jacket, featuring silver buttons emblazoned with the brand’s iconic double C logo, was paired with black suede Bottega Veneta gloves, snakeskin Christian Louboutin stilettos, a rare black crocodile Hermès Birkin bag, and Mrs. Trump’s favorite pair of Bottega Veneta art deco-inspired sunglasses which retail for about $440. Melania Trump’s farewell to Washington, D.C. ensemble, styled by her friend and personal courtier Hervé Pierre, mimics the iconic fashion codes of the late Lagerfeld who famously headed Chanel for nearly four decades. Roughly a decade after Michelle Obama’s “McQueen Dressgate,” CNN reporters condemned First Lady Melania Trump for wearing French label Chanel and “lots of foreign designers” throughout President Donald Trump’s term. Conservative hosts and personalities were largely condemned by left leaning pundits for scandalizing Obama’s fashion sense, as she wore British label Alexander McQueen to the State Dinner with China in 2011. Yet, CNN reporters did just that on Trump’s last day in office — rebuking the first lady for failing to represent American designers. Kate Bennett took to Twitter to share a picture of Melania Trump’s Wednesday outfit — a piece from Chanel’s pre-fall 2020 collection: Melania Trump today wore @CHANEL cropped jacket, pre-fall 2020 collection. pic.twitter.com/SkGFELUufm — Kate Bennett (@KateBennett_DC) January 20, 2021 Bennett later appeared on CNN to report on the “fashion statement” — also praising Dr. Jill Biden and Michelle Obama for honoring American fashion, presumably forgetting about the McQueen debacle. “The first lady-elect Dr. Jill Biden is wearing an emerging designer, a young designer, named Alexandra O’Neil. She runs a line called Markarian, which is based in New York and started in 2017,” Bennett...
Outfit repeating—aka, what rich people call the fairly usual practice of wearing something more than once—is very fashionable. Cate Blanchett, Jane Fonda, and Tiffany Haddish have all endorsed the practice on the red carpet. The British tabloids lose their minds when Kate Middleton does it. Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just joined the club, while impeaching Donald Trump on one charge of “incitement of insurrection.” This was not the first time Pelosi had to suit up for such an event. In December 2019, Trump was impeached in the House for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Pelosi put on the same black suit with three-quarter sleeves and collar necklace for both occasions. This news was reported by MSNBC and confirmed by the speaker’s office. Pelosi said back in 2019 then impeachment was, “no cause for joy. This is a sad time for our country.” So her mourning suit matched the moment—and so it is again today. Her cover for American Vogue’s February issue could have reflected the historic nature of this year’s presidential transition of power. But instead, it is the same tired postmodernism long foisted on the culture. We have gone more than four years without a figure with ties to a sitting or incoming White House on the cover of Vogue. The last time was December 2016 — the fashion establishment’s last hurrah for First Lady Michelle Obama. It has been reported that First Lady Melania Trump turned Vogue down twice when editors failed to promise her the cover. Mrs. Trump already graced the cover in February 2005, wearing her couture John Galliano for Dior wedding dress. Who needs another? And after all the horrific press coverage of Mrs. Trump’s charities over the last four years, who could blame her? Harris comes to her executive role with a very friendly relationship with the fashion establishment thanks to their shared value in advancing a progressive agenda...
Calling President Trump and his allies’ claims of election fraud “extraordinarily thin,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) cast the effort to overturn the 2020 election results in his chamber as an existential challenge for the country that would “damage our republic forever” if successful. Speaking from the Senate floor on Wednesday, McConnell laced into Trump—and those 11 senators within his ranks who have rebelled against his leadership by backing a plot to twist the Senate’s perfunctory role in certifying the election into a last-ditch way to keep Trump in power. "The Constitution gives us here in Congress a limited role,” said McConnell. “We cannot simply declare ourselves a national board of elections on steroids.” With Trump days away from leaving office, McConnell broke with the president in this speech in an unequivocal, forceful fashion—something he has largely avoided over the last four years. And Trump has increasingly criticized McConnell and his deputies in public fashion for what he believes is a cowardly failure to stand up for him. “President Trump claims the election was stolen. The assertions range from...
House and Senate Republicans will present "evidence" Wednesday of Democrats unconstitutionally going around key state legislatures in the 2020 presidential election, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told "Fox & Friends." The House Judiciary Committee ranking member said the effort to object to certifying the results of a victory for President-elect Joe Biden over President Trump is the "only remedy left" by the Constitution. "We know that five states, some of the five key states that were critical in this election, changed their election law in an unconstitutional fashion," Jordan, who is expected to receive the Medal of Freedom from Trump next week, told co-host Brian Kilmeade. ELECTORAL COLLEGE OBJECTIONS IN CONGRESS: WHAT TO KNOW He said they plan to debate Arizona first, pointing to how an Obama-appointed judge extended the registration date 18 days despite state law in "an end-run around the Constitution." That is the template Democrats used "in state after state because they knew under the real rules, the rules that the legislature, according to the Constitution is supposed to set, they knew they couldn't win and they've been trying and trying," Jordan...
First Lady Melania Trump returned to the White House alongside President Trump on New Year’s Eve in an oversized look that mimics the out-of-proportion ensembles gracing the Parisian runways these past few seasons. Melania Trump stepped off Air Force One on Thursday, skipping the annual New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida with her husband, in a wool-blend Balenciaga bubble coat featuring a Prince of Wales check print, an enormous collar, and the brand’s eye-catching sloped sleeves. The Balenciaga coat retails for about $2,990. Mrs. Trump paired the statement piece with Christian Dior’s black calfskin empreinte boots — French for footprint. The boots retail for about $1,690. Mrs. Trump also threw on a pair of black leather Bottega Veneta gloves and her favorite Saint Laurent sunglasses. The look has become a frequent staple of Balenciaga collections as of late, with the brand’s creative director often showcasing structural coats with voluminous sleeves and collars that can be seen from even the last row of a runway show. Donald Trump is coming under fire for taking the time to complain that lifestyle and fashion magazines don’t feature his wife enough, all while ignoring the deadline on a COVID-19 relief bill and a potential government shutdown now just hours away. As The Independent reported, the Christmas holiday came with a number of looming crises for the United States, including what appeared to be a completed COVID-19 relief measure that was thrown into uncertainty when Trump rejected the stimulus deal and made an unexpected demand that direct payments to Americans be increased to $2,000 from $600. It is not clear where the bill goes next, as Politico reported that congressional leaders are now racing to come up with a new bill and avoid a pending government shutdown. Even some members of his own party are calling on Trump to sign the bill. “The best way out of this is for the president to sign the bill and I still hope that’s what he decides to do,” said Republican Sen. Roy Blunt. While leaders from both parties are reportedly working on...
First lady Melania Trump hasn’t been “in Vogue” — or other fashion mags — nearly enough, President Trump said this week. Not a single major magazine has featured the former model on its cover during her husband’s presidency, prompting the Commander in Chief to vent on Christmas about the lack of attention. He shared a tweet from Breitbart News on Christmas Day complaining how “the elitist snobs in the fashion press have kept the most elegant First Lady in American history off the covers of their magazines for 4 consecutive years.” Melania Trump is “the greatest of all time,” Trump added. A count by the Daily Mail found by contrast, Michelle Obama, graced at least 12 magazine covers during her time in office — including three for Vogue alone. “First Lady Melania Trump departed the White House for Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday in a sleek ensemble with knockout thigh-high leather boots,” gushed Breitbart’s in-house fashion guru John Binder, alongside images of the first couple departing the White House to spend Christmas at Mar-a-Lago.
