A conservative think tank has filed a legal complaint against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan over allegations they spent $500 million to help Joe Biden win the 2020 election.  Chan and Zuckerberg are cited in one of two complaints filed with the Internal Revenue Service by the Center for Renewing America (CRA), a conservative nonprofit run by former deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget, Russell Vought.  According to FOX Business, the complaints filed with the IRS allege that the high ranking Facebook officials attempted to sway the 2020 presidential election in favor of now President Joe Biden with $500 million funneled through nonprofit, tax-exempt voting rights groups.  CRA says the donations should have been eligible for taxation, because they were used for electioneering.   CRA also filed a second complaints against the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), Center for Election Innovation and Research (CEIR) and National Vote at Home Institute (NVAHI), claiming that they played a major role in the scheme to help now President Biden win the vote.  Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla...
Cindy Ord/Getty Images Former President Donald Trump has quite the reputation for legal troubles, but a ruling from a federal judge in Florida might just be the cherry on the sundae of awkward Trump attorney anecdotes — and create new problems for a member of his legal team. Trump and his companies have been entangled in so many lawsuits, getting sued for everything from alleged sexual assault to the financial implosion of his Atlantic City casinos, that Wikipedia has an entire page titled “List of lawsuits involving Donald Trump.” The ex-president lost over 60 lawsuits just in his flailing attempts to challenge the 2020 election; the one case in which he did score a minor victory merely blocked the Pennsylvania Secretary of State from extending the period for provisional ballots to be remedied, an issue affecting only a small number of ballots that would never have changed the result. He’s publicly struggled  to assemble a top-notch legal team to defend him in the wake of the FBI search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, and the attorneys he did manage to get...
A federal judge in Florida delivered a sharp, strong, and devastating 65-page rebuke as he dismissed Donald Trump’s lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and more than two dozen others including the Democratic National Committee and, initially, five former FBI officials who were later dropped from the $24 million suit. U.S. District Judge Donald Middlebrooks said the lawsuit was so weak he agreed with the defendants who described it as “a fundraising tool, a press release, or a list of political grievances,” and added, “it has no merit as a lawsuit.” The lawsuit was filed by Alina Habba, who “previously worked as general counsel at a parking garage company.” It “blamed Hillary Clinton and others for conspiring to malign his character,” Bloomberg reports, and “accused more than two dozen defendants of orchestrating ‘a malicious conspiracy to disseminate patently false and injurious information about Donald J. Trump and his campaign, all in the hopes of destroying his life, his political career and rigging the 2016 Presidential Election in favor of Hillary Clinton.’ It was filed in March under the civil version of a...
A federal judge in Florida has tossed a racketeering lawsuit that Donald Trump filed against Hillary Clinton and a slew of other defendants—dismantling his claims one by one in an absolutely withering critique. “It is not simply that I find the Amended Complaint ‘inadequate in any respect,’” Judge Donald Middlebrooks writes at one point. “It is inadequate in nearly every respect.” Trump filed the suit in March alleging that Clinton and the others “orchestrated a malicious conspiracy to disseminate patently false and injurious information” about his campaign’s possible collusion with Russia. After the defendants filed a motion to dismiss, Trump’s lawyers filed a 193-page amended complaint, adding a new claim of wire fraud—and the judge writes, “eighty new pages of largely irrelevant allegations that did nothing to salvage the legal sufficiency of his claims.” Trump had no immediate comment on the dismissal. Middlebrooks, who was appointed to the bench by President Bill Clinton, makes clear from the outset that he thinks the complaint filed by Trump’s lawyers is legal gobbledygook. “Plaintiff’s theory of this case, set forth over 527...
Photo by Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for The Met Museum/Vogue As Elon Musk attempts to legally back out of his deal to buy Twitter, the Tesla CEO took a victory lap on the social media platform by taunting the company over the troubling new allegations it is facing. Twitter’s former head of security, Peiter “Mudge” Zatko, filed a whistleblower complaint on Monday that was filled with damaging accusations against CEO Parag Agrawal and Twitter’s other top executives. Among the most serious claims, Zatko charged Twitter’s leadership with deceiving regulators and investors, covering up the platform’s major security problems, and a lack of oversight for the company’s data and main controls. Agrawal responded to the whistleblower complaint in a company memo which blasted Zatko’s “false narrative” and vowed to “pursue all paths to defend our integrity as a company and set the record straight.” As Twitter observes the fallout from the explosive development, Musk made a not-so-subtle reference to the news with a meme of Jiminy Cricket singing “Give a Little Whistle” from the film Pinocchio. pic.twitter.com/KsWiazActx — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August...

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Republican Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft's investigation of Democratic Auditor Nicole Galloway over a GOP group’s allegations of campaign finance violations has prompted a legal fight. With Galloway engaged in a tight race for the governor's seat with Republican incumbent Mike Parson, Ashcroft agreed last month to look into concerns raised by the Liberty Alliance that an opinion piece Galloway wrote on a restrictive state abortion law was submitted by one of Galloway's state-paid press aides. The nonprofit said that violated state law barring the use of taxpayer dollars for campaign purposes. But the auditor’s office said there is no law prohibiting Galloway, as an elected statewide officeholder, from speaking on a variety of topics, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The paper ran the opinion piece at the center of the dispute last year. At issue now is how much time Galloway's office has to respond to a public records request for emails related to the abortion issue. The auditor's office wants 30 days, but Ashcroft issued a subpoena demanding that they be turned over...
Three Virginia residents are filing a class action lawsuit on behalf of tenants across the Commonwealth against the firm Senex Law, alleging abusive and unfair debt collection practices in violation of federal law.  Representing the tenants are attorneys from the Legal Aid Justice Center (LAJC), Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley and Charlottesville law firm MichieHamlett.  The plaintiffs, Jennifer Lord, Ebony Reddicks, and Toniraye Moss, are bringing their claims under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and are requesting the Court to reward compensatory damages including actual damages, class-wide statutory damages, injunctive relief against continued predatory debt collection practices, and payment of their attorneys’ fees and costs, according to the complaint.  The complaint argues that the firm directly sends letters to tenants intentionally designed to look as if they are from the landlord or property manager, and not from a debt collector like Senex. The letters say the landlord has retained counsel for delinquency and demands that tenants pay attorney’s fees as well as any unpaid rent or late fees. Senex then sends...

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Days before Minnesota’s primary election, another complaint has been filed by the Federal Election Commission against Antone Melton-Meaux. Melton-Meaux is challenging Rep. Ilhan Omar for Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District. Because the district is so overwhelmingly Democratic, Tuesday’s primary is widely expected to pick the winner. The Campaign Legal Center filed the complaint Friday, saying that Melton-Meaux’s campaign has “disguised over 77 percent of its total spending by routing funds through three recently created LLCs.” EXTRA: Click Here To Read The Full Complaint “None of the three LLCs appears to have other clients, nor do they appear to have any existence outside of the campaign; instead, the facts indicate that the LLCs were created for the purpose of contracting with Antone for Congress,” the complaint continues. In a statement, Melton-Meaux called the claim “frivolous,” and said it was a “continuation of more divisiveness and distraction” from his opponent. “The complaint by the DFL and CLC would be rejected by the FEC because it lacks merit,” he said. This is not the first complaint Melton-Meaux has faced. On Tuesday, the...

And Newsweek revealed last week that Kensington Palace called in lawyers over the coverage. Ingrid Seward, author of The Queen's Speech, told Newsweek: "I think it's far too close to the bone for comfort. "She [Paternak] manages to completely lift Kate onto a pedestal and then completely knock her off it.
