Shamima Begum and her two teenage friends were smuggled into Syria by a spy working for Canada - before Justin Trudeau's nation then then conspired with the UK to cover up its role, a new book claims. The so-called Jihadi Bride was stripped of her British citizenship in 2019 after she fled Britain four years earlier to join the Islamic State (IS). Fresh revelations claim the now-23-year-old was trafficked into the Middle East by a double agent, on the payroll of both IS and Canadian intelligence. But officials in Ottawa are then said to have kept quiet, even as Scotland Yard ran a huge, international search for Begum, and her friends Amira Abase and Kadiza Sultana, according to The Secret History of the Five Eyes. Five Eyes is an intelligence sharing alliance, formalised during the Cold War, between the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The book, by journalist Richard Kerbaj, alleges that Canada finally admitted its involvement in the plot as bosses feared becoming exposed, then also managed to convince Britain to cover-up its role. In response to the claims, calls...

A female editor at the New Yorker has come out to claim the magazine's editor-in-chief purposely inserted errors into her work on multiple occasions so that he could punish her, in a campaign she says was designed to 'intimidate and silence women.'   Erin Overbey, who has worked as an archive editor at the publication since 1994, made the claims in a series of posts to Twitter Tuesday, fingering longtime boss David Remnick as the one behind the alleged effort. The 40-tweet barrage saw 50-year-old Overbey accuse Remnick, 63, of engaging in a double standard with his male and female employees - and claim she was put under internal review after raising concerns to brass over the alleged disparity. Officials in the Trump administration “conned” pro-choice Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) into voting to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Rolling Stone reported. Officials close to former President Donald Trump courted her crucial vote to confirm Kavanaugh in 2018. They simultaneously mocked her for being easily manipulated. There was reportedly a notion among those close to the confirmation process the senator would not require much in the way of convincing. Rolling Stone reported Collins was viewed as an “easy mark” by the officials. The report states: [Kavanaugh] had promised her in 2018 that [Roe v. Wade] was a matter of settled law — despite his deeply conservative track record on abortion. Turns out, Collins wasn’t just wrong about Kavanaugh. She was deliberately manipulated by Trump administration officials — and a future Supreme Court Justice — who viewed her as an easy mark. Two former senior Trump White House officials tell Rolling Stone that the pro-choice Collins wasn’t even considered a serious threat to the devoutly conservative Kavanaugh. Instead, the team predicted she’d need only a vague assurance that the...
