A New York University professor has been fired after a group of students signed a petition against him suggesting his course was too difficult. Maitland Jones Jr., 84, had 82 of his 350 organic chemistry students sign the petition citing Jones' teaching methods and course outline as reasons for their poor grades. 'We are very concerned about our scores, and find that they are not an accurate reflection of the time and effort put into this class,' the petition said, according to a New York Times report. 'We urge you to realize that a class with such a high percentage of withdrawals and low grades has failed to make students' learning and well-being a priority and reflects poorly on the chemistry department as well as the institution as a whole.' Accusations made against Jones include: reducing the number of midterm exams from three to two; no offering of extra credit; no Zoom access to lectures for those with COVID-19; and, Jones taught with a 'condescending and demanding' tone.  Jones defended accusations made via the petition, adding that he reduced the number...

The news of the UNC's termination was first reported by ProFootballTalk . Tua Tagovailoa stayed in the game vs. the Bills after having his head slammed on the turf The Dolphins classed their quarterback's ailment as a back injury and said that he was not concussed, but many were skeptical of that diagnosis at the time, including Harvard-educated neuroscientist Chris Nowinski. 'I'm calling bulls*** on the ''back tweak theory,''' Nowinski tweeted.  'Watch the vid. Tua shakes his head multiple times to 'clear the cobwebs', which is a specific sign of vision impairment after #concussion. He also wobbles getting up before falling. His return is a fail @NFL.' The gravity of his injury last weekend vs. the Bills was reinforced Thursday against the Bengals, as he...

ARIZONA STATE apparently wasted no time in firing head coach Herm Edwards. Let go following their 30-21 loss to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, a new video has surfaced that shows both Arizona's President and it's Athletic Director speaking to Edwards on the field immediately following the loss. 1Herm Edwards leaves the Arizona State Sun Devils with a 26-20 recordCredit: Getty Some have taken to social media to speculate that this could have been the moment the Sun Devils let Edwards go. Whether this is true or not is uncertain, but the optics aren't good as far as Arizona is concerned. The manner of Edwards' tenure being ended looks even worse if a recent report by The Athletic alleging sabotage from within his coaching staff is true. CNN staffers said they fear a network-wide purge of top talent after Brian Stelter and White House correspondent John Hardwood were unceremoniously fired.  After Hardwood announced his surprise departure on Friday, just hours after reporting from the White House, current and former CNN employees told the The Washington Post that there appears to be a culling of the woke at the media outlet. Both Hardwood and Stelter, the host of Reliable Sources who was fired last month, saw their contracts terminated prematurely.   It's seen as evidence that new boss Chris Licht is looking to cast out those who have been critical of Donald Trump and his allies in order to present a more neutral CNN and win back its 'most trusted name in news' title.  One CNN journalist told the Post: 'People are freaked out. It almost feels like there's a pattern. Is there a purge going on?  'They seem to be sending a message: "Watch what you say. Watch what you do.'"  CNN staffers are afraid of a network-wide purge of woke talent following the sudden firings of WH...
The North Carolina town whose entire police force resigned in protest of a town manager whom they said created a 'hostile' work environment for officers has voted to terminate her contract less than a month after the mass exodus. City Council officials for the town of Kenly voted 3-2 to oust Justine Jones Tuesday night, during an emergency meeting that followed a monthlong investigation into the department's allegations. The walkout transpired early last month, and saw the small force's five cops, including its chief of 20 years, hand in their resignation letters to both Jones and city council. They were joined by two town clerks who also accused the manager - a progressive black woman who unsuccessfully sued her previous employer for gender and racial discrimination - of creating a toxic work environment for the city employees. Following the resignations, Kenly residents were split on whether the matter was a 'race issue' given that Jones is Black - in contrast to the small-town police department, which is entirely white. In the seven resignation letters, neither the clerks nor the five...

Turhan Knight, a corrections officer since 2018, was terminated from his position on Thursday after city officials learned of the video in which he mocked the death of the 26-year-old black woman. The CEO of the Orlando Museum of Art has been fired days after an FBI raid that seized an exhibit of 25 disputed artworks that were attributed to Jean-Michel Basquiat.  Aaron De Groft was removed as director and CEO after the museum's board of trustees met on Tuesday night, following the federal raid on Friday seizing the works in the 'Heroes and Monsters' exhibit. The board said in a statement that it is 'extremely concerned' about the exhibition of 25 paintings whose authenticity has been challenged, as well as an 'inappropriate' email De Groft sent to an academic art expert.  In the email to the art expert, who had been hired by the owners of the paintings, De Groft urged her to 'shut up' after she expressed qualms about the exhibit and asked that her name not be used in promoting it, according to the FBI.  'We have launched an official process to address these matters, as they are inconsistent with the values of this institution, our business standards, and our standards of conduct,' said board chair Cynthia Brumback in the...

A California gas station manager was fired after accidentally putting the wrong price up for a gallon of premium fuel - just 69 cents, rather than the $6.99 it was supposed to cost. John Szczecina, the manager of a Shell station in Rancho Cordova, admitted later that he simply misplaced the decimal point. 'Well, it was a mistake that I did, you know,' said Szczecina. 'And I thought, 'this is a nightmare. I put all three prices on there except the diesel, but the last one kind of didn't go right.' Soon after it went up, people started spreading word about the low prices on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - and people started lining up to take advantage of the rare respite from skyrocketing fuel costs. 'So I just took responsibility for it and I said 'yeah it's my fault, and I'm to blame,' Szczecina said.  The mistake ended up costing the Shell station nearly $20,000 - and cost Szczecina his job as well. John Szczecina, the manager of a Shell station in Rancho Cordova, put the price - which should have been...

However, an arbitrator reversed the school's decision and ordered UCF to give Negy his old job back and pay him the salary that he missed after being fired. “At some point in 2020 a furor erupts over tweets from his twitter account, activity not related to his duties and also is protected free speech,” arbitrator Ben Falcigno wrote in his Arbitration Award opinion on May 16. “There ensues a campaign by UCF to find out more about Dr. Negy’s classroom performance as related by his students. UCF reaches out to previous students, gets a number of responses and determines that serious misconduct has been occurring for years, lamenting that no system for detecting such misconduct existed to alert management to such disrepute. And, the misconduct is of such magnitude that the only course of action is immediate termination.” Negy told WOFL, "I want to go back. I want to make a stand for free speech, academic freedom.
