Getty Jeremiah Attaochu played in just five games for the Chicago Bears in 2021. Chicago Bears veteran edge rusher Jeremiah Attaochu is entering his ninth season in the NFL, but his future with the team remains a question mark. The Bears are currently loaded with edge rushers, with a group led by 2021 Pro Bowler Robert Quinn. There’s also third-year up-and-comer Trevis Gipson, free agent addition Al-Quadin Muhammad and rookie fifth-round draft pick Dominique Robinson standing in Attaochu’s way. Attaochu, 29, signed a two-year, $5.55 million contract with the Bears in 2021 with $2.85 million guaranteed, per Spotrac. He had a disappointing first season with Chicago, playing in just five games before going down for the year after tearing his pectoral muscle Week 5. He finished with three solo tackles, five pressures, four hurries, and a quarterback hit in 68 pass rush snaps, per Pro Football Focus. Considering his disappointing 2021 campaign coupled with the team incorporating an entirely different defense, Attaochu has been dubbed a likely cut candidate — but the veteran defender says he’ll fit in...
Getty Eagles guard Isaac Seumalo has been mentioned as a potential cut victim. One of the biggest mysteries remaining for the Chicago Bears is the right guard position. With last year’s starter James Daniels now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, both free agent signing Dakota Dozier and converted center Sam Mustipher have been competing for the starting job early on. With Mustipher primarily playing center over the last two seasons and Dozier not playing at all in 2021, neither seems like an ideal fit. One name that has been floated as a possibility for Chicago at the position is Philadelphia Eagles guard Isaac Seumalo. If the Eagles cut OG Isaac Seumalo to save money, he’s definitely a name I’m targeting for the #Bears. He has the connection to Ian Cunningham, good scheme fit, fits a major need, and he’s only 28. He’s graded well from PFF for most of his career. — Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) May 27, 2022 The 28-year-old has been named by Pro Football Network’s Mike Kaye as a possible cut candidate, but Gene Chamberlain of Sports Illustrated...

Sign up for the free Mother Jones newsletter.Hey, here’s a neat example of how housing works in progressive cities for you—and the costs of it. In mid-February, 150,000 applicants to the University of California, Berkeley received a letter warning them that “a recent court order” could force the university to slash its enrollment by 3,000 slots and reduce acceptances by 5,000, sending students and their parents throughout the country into a panic.  “We want to assure you that we are pursuing every possible option for avoiding what would be a dire situation for prospective students and our campus,” wrote Olufemi Ogundele, assistant vice chancellor and director of undergraduate admissions at UC Berkeley.  Ogundele’s letter was referencing an August 2021 order mandating that Berkeley cap its enrollment at 2020 levels. In February 2022, an appeals court upheld the ruling, and shortly after Berkeley announced that it planned to appeal to the state Supreme Court.  Today, however, the California Supreme Court...

However, he did remark on the media attention Gabby's case is receiving, comparing it to domestic violence cases. "Unfortunately, this is one of many deaths around the country of people who are involved in domestic violence," Dr Blue said in answer to one question. "And it's unfortunate that these other deaths do not get as much coverage as this one." He was answering a query from a local radio host...

Two long-haul truckers recently arrested for kidnapping women and demanding ransoms for their release may have had victims in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, among other areas, federal authorities said Wednesday. Brian T. Summerson, 25, of Dillon, South Carolina, was arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida, assaulting, imprisoning and tampering with a victim, the FBI announced. Pierre L. Washington, a 35-year-old trucking company owner (God Got Me LLC), was busted in Chicago, Illinois, where he lives, the bureau said. Although the FBI couldn’t specify Washington’s routes, they noted that Summeron had a primary route along Route 95 from as north as New Jersey all the way to Florida. He’s also travelled to Chicago and to Kansas City, Missouri. “When meeting potential victims, he tells them his name is Von or Vaughn,” the FBI said in a release. Investigators have found “photographs, videos and text communications of additional women on Summerson’s electronic devices and electronic accounts,” the bureau added. Anyone with information on either man is asked to email investigators at [email protected] . “Your responses are voluntary but would...

The person texting certainly seemed to know the victim - and the threat to kill him and his family appeared to be real. But it was all a hoax. North Haven Police are warning people about a vicious scam. The Police recently took a complaint from a person who had been contacted by an unknown person who claimed to be a member of a drug cartel. The scammer went on to note personal information about the victim - telephone number, address, date of birth, etc. - before asking for money, police said. If the money was not delivered, the scammers said, then the victim and his family would be killed. The threat was followed up by graphic and violent images of torture and mutilation. Police said the personal information the scammer used to attempt to scare the victim is the kind of publicly available details that just about anyone could easily access online. Also, the images that were sent are from various forums and websites - not photos originally staged and taken by the scammer.  The scam is scary,...
While digging to start construction on a high-speed rail project in the U.K., archaeologists uncovered a skeleton that may be a "murder victim" from the Iron Age. The skeleton, which is laying face down, with its hands bound under its pelvis, was recovered near an area occupied by the British during both the Bronze and Iron ages, Wellwick Farm. The burial style suggests either the adult male, his identity unknown at this time, was murdered or executed. "The death of the Wellwick Farm man remains a mystery to us but there aren’t many ways you end up in a bottom of a ditch, face down, with your hands bound," project archaeologist Dr. Rachel Wood said in a statement. "We hope our osteologists will be able to shed more light on this potentially gruesome death." Skeleton of adult male at Wellwick Farm, uncovered by HS2 archaeological works.
