The body count rises as expected in Richard III, even if we barely see it. We are never in any doubt about the title character’s anger and capacity for viciousness thanks to Danai Gurira’s balance of ruthless focus and shameless guile in portraying the bloody chess game methodology behind his ascent to the throne. Gurira could not look and seem more different than the “deformed, unfinish’d” protagonist that Shakespeare imagined. In this Free Shakespeare in the Park production (opening today at the Delacorte Theater and running only to July 17, so you will have to get your skates on), Richard is a smooth, power-hungry player from the get-go. Gurira recently told NPR that the gender-crossing casting choice had made it interesting to explore “toxic masculinity” as a perpetrator instead of an object. “Is there a different experience the audience has when they hear misogyny come through a female body? Does it highlight it more? Does it sharpen it in terms of how grotesque it is? And I hope it does,” she told NPR. “Richard’s otherness is his Blackness in...
MIKEL ARTETA has been promised that he will be backed in the transfer market this summer - but an internal shake up could be on the cards at Arsenal. Barring a miracle, the Gunners look set to miss out on Champions League qualification. 2Mikel Arteta has been told that he will be backed in the summer transfer marketCredit: Rex 2Josh Kroenke wrote an open message to supporters in the club programmeCredit: Getty They face Everton today on the final day of the season knowing anything but a victory and a Tottenham loss at Norwich means it will be the Europa League for them next term. Despite that, chief Josh Kroenke, whose family own Arsenal, has vowed to support the club’s manager ahead of the new season to get them back on top. Writing in Arsenal’s matchday programme, Kroenke said: “Yes, we're in a tough position right now after the last few matches in terms of qualifying for the Champions League, but I think the lessons learned will serve us well. “Sometimes feeling a level of frustration is the best motivation...
AFTER a breakup, it's a healthy choice put your ex out of your mind, and that's exactly what one newly-single woman tried to do. But her plans went awry when she stumbled upon her ex's Google search history after they broke up, and learned she was very much at the front of his mind. 4After a breakup, one woman was shocked to discover her ex's search historyCredit: Alamy 4She believed the terms indicated her ex was 'still thinking of her'Credit: TikTok In a TikTok video, the woman, whose identity The Sun has chosen to protect, shared the story of her unexpected discovery. "I wish I could unsee this," she captioned the clip. While using her phone one day, she realized her browser had someone else's Google account logged in. Navigating to the user page to see the username revealed it was her ex-boyfriend's account – and displayed his startling search history. MADRID (AP) — It wasn’t long ago that Ousmane Dembélé was being jeered by Barcelona fans at the Camp Nou. He had just refused to leave the club after being told he wasn’t wanted anymore. There had been back-and-forth accusations, with Barcelona saying it only wanted fully committed players and Dembélé saying he would not give in to blackmail. The relationship appeared well beyond saving. Fast forward a few weeks, though, and everyone is smiling again. The grievances are suddenly gone and peace has apparently been restored. Dembélé looks happy. He is playing well and scoring, and fans have been cheering instead of booing him. The club again wants him to stay. “He still has our offer,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta told radio station SER. “As I said before, I think he is an extraordinary player — one of the best in the world in is position. Hopefully he will rethink his decision at the end of the season.” Laporta, who in the past called Dembélé better than Kylian Mbappé, told the France forward to look for another club in...
The top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee said Tuesday it is sadly ironic that a Marine lieutenant colonel was being held in the brig at a Jacksonville, N.C., base for speaking "truth" against the failures of his superiors, while no officials further up the chain have been held accountable for their multiple and continuing failures in regard to Afghanistan. Ranking Member Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, told "The Story" that President Biden's botched Afghanistan withdrawal should be rated an "F" in terms of the evacuation, as dozens of Americans remain stranded under Taliban rule in the war-torn country. VideoWhile Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller Jr., a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, was released from the brig at Camp Lejeune in Onslow County, N.C., under terms of an agreement between him, his counsel, the commanding general and training command, McCaul said he never should have been there in the first place. Scheller has since been fired from his command at Lejeune, and a hearing has reportedly been delayed until next week. "I think it’s ironic that this …...
WWE BOSS Vince McMahon has criticised All Elite Wrestling (AEW), insisting they aren't rivals to his company. The new promotion has grown significantly in the last two-and-a-half years but McMahon isn't worried about it's rise. 3Tony Khan's All Elite Wrestling promotion is becoming increasingly popularCredit: YouTube 3But Vince McMahon believes WWE have seen off greater threats in the pastCredit: Getty McMahon compared AEW to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) - WWE's main rival between 1988 and 2001 - claiming the defunct company were a far greater threat. According to Comic Book, the 75-year-old said: "I don't know what their plans are, I only know what our plans are. "I don't consider them competition in the way I would consider WCW back in the day. Not anywhere near close to that. "I'm not so sure what their investments are as far as their talent is concerned, but perhaps we can give them some more." ELITE RISE Despite McMahon's comments, AEW has grown significantly since launching in January 2019. The promotion, backed by Fulham's billionaire owner Shahid Khan, has more than two...

Among all 32 teams in the NFL, the Las Vegas Raiders rank above the rest in terms of COVID-19 vaccination rates. NFL minicamps have begun and concluded this week, but the main topic surrounding the event has been in regards to the COVID-19 vaccine, specifically vaccine hesitancy. The football world has listened to emphatic stances against the vaccine and non-committal statements about whether they were going to get inoculated. That left many wondering who was doing the best in terms of vaccination rates. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Las Vegas Raiders “might be the best in the league” in terms of COVID-19 vaccination rates. Bonsignore also added that Las Vegas’ entire coaching staff has been vaccinated. I'd decided to visit Kamalaya in December during what would have been, in an ordinary year, the beginning of the resort's busy season. Vincent Vichit-Vadakan / Insider Kamalaya is a resort built on the site of a sacred hermit retreat on the island of Samui in Thailand. I'm a wellness newbie who's waved away words like "holistic" and "self care" for their crunchy-granola vagueness. But in December, partially as a response to COVID-era stress, I decided to give the resort a try. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. As soon as I walked into my color therapy session, I was sure I'd made a mistake.  It was the first day of a week-long stay I'd booked at Kamalaya, a wellness retreat located on an idyllic stretch of beach on Thailand's Samui Island. The resort is sought after for its programs that claim to enhance body and spirit. It's where a certain international set flies in on private jets to drop thousands of dollars a day on treatments, and here I was being asked to pick a pair...

PATRICK BAMFORD believes Leeds were 'robbed' of a point against Wolves after VAR disallowed his equaliser in the second half. The 27-year-old thought he had got the Whites back on level terms in the 77th minute at Molineux, only to be judged fractionally offside. 2Leeds striker Patrick Bamford has hit out at VAR after having his equaliser disallowedCredit: Getty Images - Getty Bamford's knee was adjudged to have been narrowly ahead of Conor Coady's trailing boot as VAR chalked off what would have been his 13th goal of the season. And in another cruel blow for Marcelo Bielsa's side, Wolves' winner came after Adama Traore's shot cannoned off the bar, before bouncing in after hitting goalkeeper Islan Meslier. Taking to social media after the game, Bamford vented that his side should have left the Midlands with a point if it wasn't for VAR. He tweeted: "Gutted for the lads tonight, robbed of a point." "But at least it’s 'mAkInG tHe GaMe BeTtEr'. We go again Tuesday." It's not the first time this season that Bamford has expressed his anger at...
At this moment we have Cellnex stocks attacking the support it presents at the January lows of 45.75 euros. Below that we have the base of the short-term bearish channel. Technical analysis BEAR CHANNEL S1 45.75 S2 43.60 R1 50.40 R2 51.06 Short term Medium term Long term Yes, despite the 20% falls from the November record highs of 57.82 euros Cellnex continues to be a bullish value in medium and long-term terms. Another thing is that in the short we have him in a corrective phase (decreasing highs and lows). You can’t go up forever and ever. Action-reaction phase. At this moment we have him attacking the support he has at the minimum of January at 45.75 euros and if this is pierced, it is most likely that he will look for the base of the bearish channel through which the price has been moving since November. In fact the theory says that “at the base of a channel if it is bought, it does not sell”. And this happens at the present...
Then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden argued during October's presidential debate that his son didn't make money "in terms of" China, an issue that has come under greater scrutiny as more details surfaced regarding Hunter's business deals. "My son has not made money, in terms of this thing about ... China," Biden said at the time. His comments came amid emails showing the younger Biden involved in setting up a business deal with a Chinese energy firm. Hunter's finances recaptured the national spotlight on Wednesday when he announced that the U.S. attorney in Delaware was investigating his tax affairs. A source familiar with the investigation told Fox News that it involved suspicious activity reports (SARs) surrounding "China and other foreign nations." SARs are filed by financial institutions "if there is something out of the ordinary about a particular transaction," a Treasury Department official told Fox News. BIDEN PLEDGES TO AVOID CONFLICTS OF INTEREST WITH FAMILY'S BIZ DEALINGS While the exact details are unclear, the Biden-Harris transition team stood behind the president-elect's son.  “President-elect Biden is deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal...
Here’s a different look at the COVID-19 mortality rate in Europe and the United States: (Belgium is actually at the top, but I removed them because they wreck the scale and make the rest of the chart hard to read.) Excluding Belgium, the US is at the top of the chart in terms of cases, but only fourth in terms of deaths. What’s truly different about the US is its steady rise. The other countries were flat for a few months and then took off during the latest wave. By contrast, the US just kept growing and growing, steadily overtaking the other countries. Now we’re starting to turn up too and we’ll probably be near the top of the league tables by the end of the year.
CNN blasted the Trump campaign Saturday for once again holding a rally with supporters crowded closely together and very few people wearing masks, except for the obvious exception of those standing within camera view behind President Donald Trump. CNN host Ana Cabrera noted that despite the pandemic, the Rose Garden event where Trump announced the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court featured “few masks, no social distancing.” “Even Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, not practicing what he’s been preaching about taking coronavirus precautions,” said Cabrera as Azar and other attendees of the SCOTUS announcement were shown without face masks. Cabrera introduced CNN corespondent Ryan Nobles, and asked “We saw very few masks at the Rose Garden ceremony earlier and we see a few masks behind the president, but what are you seeing out there in the crowd, because clearly, there isn’t any social distancing?” “You know, Ana, this is like every single one of these campaign events for President Trump,” said Nobles. “There is little to almost no regard for the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. There are thousands and thousands of people here. They are packed...
The Roman court saw a rare tennis episode as Rafael Nadal was knocked down by Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 7-5, in the quarterfinals of Italian Open 2020. The opening set was straightforward with Diego leading by two breaks. However, the second one saw an intense battle as the two professionals traded multiple breaks. Rafa was looking to claim his 10th title on the Roman clay this week. Unfortunately, World Number 15 Schwartzman halted Rafa from reaching that unparalleled niche. For the first time in 12 years, Rafa will be going to Paris without a clay-court title to his name, as he begins his battle for another Roland Garros crown. After failing to defend his title in the Italian capital, Nadal praised Diego’s level of tennis on Saturday. “It was not my night at all. He played very well, not me. This kind of thing can happen after a long time without playing. I managed two good matches, tonight a bad one. Well done to Diego,” he said. President Trump on Tuesday defended his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, telling a woman in the audience at an ABC News town hall in Philadelphia that he did not “downplay” COVID-19 but instead “up-played” it. “Why would you downplay a pandemic that is known to disproportionately harm low income families and minority communities?” the woman asked the commander in chief in response to his comment to author Bob Woodward. “Well I didn’t downplay it, I actually, in many ways, I up-played it in terms of action. My action was very strong,” Trump told her. She responded, “Did you not admit to it yourself?” The president continued to defend his performance without recognizing her interruption. “What I did was, with China, I put a ban on, with Europe I put a ban on, and we would have lost thousands of more people had I not put the ban on. So that was called action, not with the mouth but in actual fact,” Trump said. “We did a very very good job when we put that ban on. Whether you call it...
(CNN)President Donald Trump referred to fallen US service members at the Aisne-Marne cemetery in crude and derogatory terms during a November 2018 trip to France to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, a former senior administration official confirmed to CNN. Trump was supposed to go to an event at the cemetery during the trip, but rain and fog were blamed for him not being able to helicopter to the site. The White House then determined he could not motorcade to the location -- 50 miles outside of Paris -- because it would be too hard to try to secure the roads. The former official, who declined to be named, largely confirmed reporting from Jeffrey Goldberg in The Atlantic magazine, which cited sources who said Trump rejected the idea of a cemetery visit and proceeded to refer to the fallen soldiers as "losers" and "suckers."Trump has forcefully denied the report in The Atlantic. This story is breaking and will be updated.

This article is reprinted by permission from NerdWallet. We’re all feeling effects of the current recession, whether it’s the rising cost of groceries or the pervasive economic uncertainty. But some are feeling a bigger impact than others, and data indicates renters are disproportionately affected. Half (50%) of American renters had used or planned to use their government stimulus check for necessities at the time of an early May NerdWallet survey, conducted online by The Harris Poll. That’s compared with 32% of homeowners. Three in 10 renters (30%) used or planned to use it to pay rent, whereas 15% of homeowners used or planned to use it on their mortgage. Renters are vulnerable when expenses grow or income is slashed, due to lower average incomes compared with homeowners. Further, they don’t have access to the same built-in relief valves as mortgage-holders — such as forbearance or loan modification — when they can’t pay their monthly housing costs. Federal, state and local eviction bans protected some renters for several months, but many of those orders have since expired, and possible extensions are uncertain. Without...
