Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida yesterday, and the state has been devastated by the rains, winds and flooding brought about by the tropical storm. The storm has been described by The New York Times as “one of the most powerful storms to strike the United States in decades,” and the situation has been dire for the southernmost parts of the state. Numerous videos have emerged showing how the storm surges have flooded houses, submerged other areas, and resulted in incalculable levels of damage. There’s been a lot of shocking images that have come from storm-struck Florida already, but a new video has appeared showing an honest-to-god shark swimming in a residential area. Weather reporter Colin McCarthy flagged a video posted on Twitter that seeming shows a shark attempting to swim in the flooded streets of Fort Myers. Rare footage of ‘phantom’ sharks, formally known as porbeagle, swimming off the coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts shows the apex predators challenging each other in what could either be a duel over a mate or hunting grounds.  The exciting video and images of the encounter was captured by Joe and Lauren Romeiro, a husband and wife duo that researches sharks through non-invasive sampling techniques, who were able to get up close with these porbeagle sharks that primarily stick to deeper, colder waters. Two sharks first appear in the dark waters, circling each other, and then three others join the spectacle in what thee team calls 'the motherload' - it is very rare to see one porbeagle, let alone a group. The Romeiros have spent countless hours observing sharks off the coast of New England, but sightings of the porbeagle are so rare they dubbed it the 'phantom' shark. A SHARK expert has revealed the terrifying truth that the predators might be watching you swim even when you can't see them. Marine conservation scientist David Shiffman said beachgoers have no idea how many sharks are lurking quietly underneath their feet. 1A shark expert has revealed the terrifying truth that the predators might be watching you swim even when you can't see themCredit: Getty "Just because you don't see a shark doesn't mean the shark doesn't see you," Shiffman said. Luckily, the beast will most likely leave you alone, the expert said. "If you go in the ocean and you see a shark and it's just minding his own business, you do not need to be worried," Shiffman explained on the Discovery Channel's 34th Shark Week. A video from a vacationing Texas couple captured the chase near the shore on video, in which a giant hammerhead shark is seen chasing the stingray. A few people swimming near the shark's location scrambled to get out of the water but stayed relatively close on the beach for a front-row seat to watch the hammerhead's chase, according to Fox 10. “This is the first time we have ever seen anything like this for sure,” Alec Deshotel told the outlet. “I look out the window ... and there it is.
