In this article META MMAT Chris Ratcliffe | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesWhatsApp is launching a new feature that will allow users to leave lengthy group chats without alerting others to their exit. Currently, pulling out of a WhatsApp group chat can be an awkward affair as everyone in the chat is informed when you leave. In larger groups, it can also be annoying. Soon, however, instead of notifying everyone in the group when someone leaves, only the admins will be informed. The feature will start rolling to all WhatsApp users this month. It is part of a handful of measures the encrypted messaging platform is taking in an effort to enhance privacy. Another tool announced by the firm will let users conceal their presence so that others can't see they're online.Read more about tech and crypto from CNBC ProJPMorgan says cryptocurrencies 'have found a floor' Artificial intelligence drug hunters are nearing a pivotal stage in their development Buy this undervalued crypto bank poised to rally more than 40%, BTIG says WhatsApp is also testing a setting that stops contacts...
Grasping for a favorable verdict, ex-cop Thomas Webster has told jurors trying his case in Washington, D.C., that when he came to the Capitol on Jan. 6 and proceeded to charge a police officer with a metal pole before tackling him and choking him, it was just self-defense.  The 56-year-old and his attorney have relied on Webster’s experience as a former U.S. Marine and 20-year veteran of the New York Police Department to convince jurors that his conduct that day was the rational response of an otherwise upstanding man provoked by “rogue” police who invited him to brawl.  But prosecutors have shown jurors evidence and presented testimony that they say depicts Webster clearly and only in the light that the cameras caught him in: raging, screaming, and cursing at outnumbered police who were separated from the mob by little more than bike rack barricades.  Jan. 6 defendant and ex-cop Thomas Webster is seen here, according to prosecutors, pinning Metropolitan Police Officer Noah Rathbun to the ground during the assault of the U.S. Capitol. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ anti-Disney antics have been drawing criticism from both the left and the right, including Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan — a moderate conservative and non-MAGA Republican who believes that DeSantis is making a mistake by picking a “crazy fight” with Disney over its opposition to the new “Don’t Say Gay” law. Liberal Washington opinion writer Greg Sargent, in his April 4 column, argues that DeSantis will “soon face a reckoning” for his efforts to bully Disney. “The stench of presidential ambition around Ron DeSantis has grown so thick that it resembles Charlie Brown pal Pigpen’s visible cloud of filth, and key to the Florida governor’s hopes is finding a way to capture the political energies unleashed by Donald Trump,” Sargent explains. “DeSantis must accomplish this while carving out a distinct path from that of the former president, who might run again himself. DeSantis’ new war with Disney appears to fit the bill perfectly.” Sargent continues, “As a good report from NBC News chronicles, DeSantis’ fellow Republicans see this battle as key to burnishing his national anti-‘woke’ brand....
Inflation under the Biden administration has skyrocketed in the past year, rising at the fastest pace in four decades. Inflation is measured by the U.S. Consumer Price Index, which increased nearly 8% over the past 12 months, according to government data released for February 2022. The dramatically inflated prices have reportedly resulted in 64% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck. The last time inflation rose at such a fast rate was in 1982. That year, the U.S. economy went into a recession. Now, some experts are warning that another economic recession is "inevitable." The Biden administration has been peddling a litany of excuses for the economic downturn — including the coronavirus pandemic, corporate greed, and Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine — but American voters reportedly aren't buying it. A plurality of respondents to a recent NBC News poll (38%) blamed President Joe Biden for the increase in the cost of consumer goods, while just 28% blamed the coronavirus pandemic, 23% blamed corporations raising prices, and only 6% blamed Putin.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams has been blasted for teasing an end to vaccine mandates for professional athletes - while continuing to order under-5's to wear masks at school.    On Wednesday, the mayor promised to work out a solution with Major League Baseball to figure out how to get players without their shots off the bench by the time the season starts on April 7 for the Yankees or April 15 for the Mets, but he refuses to budge unmasking tykes. Explaining his controversial plans at a press conference Wednesday, Adams said: 'We are going to do an analysis,' the mayor said. 'Baseball season is not tomorrow. It's not next week. We are going to work this out, where we will ensure the safety of New Yorkers without continuing the spread of COVID.  'I'm looking forward to speaking to Major League Baseball as we put our heads together with our medical team and figure out how we come up with a solution here. That's my goal.' But parents were quick to anger at Adams' words. 'I think he's under estimating how mad...
by Ailan Evans   The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will soon require taxpayers to submit a scan of their face in order to access certain features and tax records. The change, first reported on by Krebs on Security, will force users to sign into the IRS website through an account with third-party firm ID.me, and provide a government identification document with their photo alongside a selfie to verify their identity, according to the IRS website. The IRS first announced its partnership with ID.me in November, arguing the arrangement would “improve accessibility” and security for users. “Identity verification is critical to protect taxpayers and their information. The IRS has been working hard to make improvements in this area, and this new verification process is designed to make IRS online applications as secure as possible for people,” IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said at the time. The IRS did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for further comment on the arrangement. An agency spokesperson told CNBC that while a facial scan was not needed to file taxes, users would have to submit one to access tax records, view...

Netflix premieres are a lottery in terms of quality and with Sweet Girl we found an unsatisfactory movie. In the last year we have been able to see some films on Netflix that have received quite negative reviews. The remake of Rebeca or The Woman in the Window were two premieres that left much to be desired, but Netflix has done it again with Sweet Girl, the latest movie starring Jason Momoa. When we read the synopsis of Sweet Girl we found a story classic plot in which an individual faces a large company, in this case to a pharmacist, after suffering an injustice. The protagonist has become a widower after the company eliminated the drug that could save his wife. With a slight hint of conspiracy, it is suspected that the alleged reasons are not true and beat other interests. For this reason, the character played by Jason Momoa and his daughter will face the company in a plot that turns towards action and continuous twists in the plot line. Disney + continues to release news, such as its...

The price of polypropylene, a byproduct of oil refining used to produce face masks, rose 57 percent in just six months, affected by the reduction in global fuel production, hurricanes in the cost of the Gulf of the United States that impacted to refineries and the high demand for protective masks. Aldimir Torres, president of the National Association of Plastic Industries (ANIPAC), warned that the rising cost of this input, which is also used to produce medical suits, will cause manufacturers to increase the price to the consumer, a serious situation in the midst of a pandemic . “To make polypropylene in the world, propylene is needed, this chemical is used mainly to make fuels, but the confinement due to the sanitary emergency reduced the need to use transportation and decreased the consumption of gasoline, this caused the propylene producers to suspend some activities , a blow for the rest of the industries that depend on polypropylene generating a lower supply ”, he explained. Google is testing a new privacy feature to its Chrome browser for iOS that can lock incognito tabs behind Face ID. Apple’s facial recognition system is used to secure an iPhone or iPad, but many apps have their own Face ID support for extra security. Google has started testing securing incognito tabs behind Face ID in its latest Chrome iOS beta, signaling that it should arrive to regular users in the coming months. Update notes for the latest Chrome 89 beta on iOS reveal that “when you return to the Chrome app, your incognito tabs will be blurred until you confirm it’s you.” You can enable this feature in the privacy section of Chrome’s settings, but it appears to be in early testing as not even every beta tester has access just yet. Chrome 89 is expected to debut in early March, but it’s not clear if the Face ID support will be ready in time. Google is also supporting Touch ID, for older devices. This feature is similar to Samsung’s secret mode in its mobile browser, which allows users...

Uber passengers who are reported for not wearing face coverings will have to take a selfie while wearing a mask if they want to get another ride. The ride-hailing company announced the move in a Tuesday news release. It said the technology is already in use for Uber drivers, who have had to snap a picture of their mask-clad face since earlier this summer. The company said that more than 100 million mask verifications have been completed by drivers and delivery people since its rollout. “We firmly believe that accountability is a two-way street. That’s why we’re expanding the same technology to riders, too. If a driver reports to us that a rider wasn’t wearing a mask, the rider will be required to take a selfie with their face covered before they’re able to take another trip with Uber,” the company said. The mask verification technology will be up and running for passengers in the United States and Canada by the end of September and will be rolled out in Latin America and other countries soon after...
Ben Shapiro told "Fox & Friends" Friday that Democratic nominee Joe Biden had to be "alive" and "string together a sentence" in his Democratic National Convention address, which he "met with ease" Thursday night. "It was a pretty good showing for Biden," the host of "The Ben Shapiro Show" said, "but the problem for Biden is that sometime between now and the election he will have to face another live human being asking him a question." TRUMP SAYS BIDEN SPEECH IS 'JUST WORDS' AT DNC CLOSE The author of "How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps" alluded to the presidential debates with President Trump and interviews with journalists asking him "what he means to do, politically speaking, to change the sort of trajectory that we are on as opposed to vague generalities about orange man being bad."
