In the investigations he subsequently participated in, he claimed that the D.C. field office was "manipulating" FBI case-management protocol. "Cases are ordinarily characterized and labeled by the originating field office," noted Jordan, "with leads 'cut' to other field offices for specific assistance in that geographic location." The FBI was, however, said to have been engaged in a "manipulative casefile practice" whereby it disseminated J6 cases to local field offices around the country to generate "false and misleading crime statistics." According to Friend's complaint cited by Jordan, "Instead of hundreds of investigations stemming from a single, black swan incident at the Capitol, FBI and [Department of Justice] officials point to significant increases in domestic violent extremism and terrorism around the United States." Jordan wrote that "the FBI's case categorization creates the illusion that threats from ["domestic violent extremism" or DVE] are present in jurisdictions across the nation, when in reality they all stem from the same related investigation concerning the actions at the Capitol on Jan 6." A potential result of this alleged "artificial case categorization scheme" is that...

EXCLUSIVE DETAILS – Kyle Rittenhouse was back in court on Friday morning as his attorneys continued their efforts to keep the 17-year-old in his home state of Illinois instead of being extradited to Wisconsin to face trial on homicide charges. Rittenhouse wore a face mask as he appeared on a video stream for a brief court hearing in Lake County, Ill., on Friday morning, one day after court papers argued that moving him to Kenosha, Wis. would effectively “turn him over to the mob.” Judge Paul Novak scheduled an Oct. 30 hearing on the extradition request, though prosecutors told Novak they were prepared to move faster. “The law is pretty clear cut on this,” Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Stephen Scheller said. “This case has been dragging on now, we’re already into October. ... We want a hearing as soon as possible.” In this screen grab from live stream video, Kyle Rittenhouse appears via video during a hearing at the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Waukegan, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020. Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old accused of shooting and killing two protesters in Kenosha, Wis., on Tuesday, called a friend as he fled the scene to tell them he “killed somebody,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by CNN. On Thursday, prosecutors in Wisconsin charged Rittenhouse with first-degree intentional homicide, one count of first-degree reckless homicide, one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.  Rittenhouse traveled with his rifle from Antioch, Ill., to the third night of protests in Kenosha after the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man. Police say he shot and killed Anthony M. Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, as well as wounding a third man. Rittenhouse clashed with protesters for unknown reasons near a car dealership, and Rosenbaum threw an object that appeared to be plastic bag at him. The teen shot Rosenbaum moments later.  Rittenhouse made a phone call and said "I just killed somebody" as he ran away, the complaint alleges. A friend of his told investigators they received the call at 11:46 p.m. local time. A journalist at the...

Protesters in the Wisconsin city were demanding justice after an officer shot local resident Jacob Blake seven times in the back while his children watched from his car. As the 29-year-old Black man fought for his life at the hospital following the Sunday shooting, people marched, chanted and asked why for three days. At times, demonstrators and armed civilians faced off. Then things took a deadly turn. The teenager with the long gun scuffled with people near a car dealership and opened fire, allegedly killing two people and wounding a third, a criminal complaint says. Even as police and emergency vehicles raced to the scene and chaotic videos of the fatal encounter appeared on social media, the armed suspect slipped past a group of officers unnoticed. He was arrested 30 miles away in Antioch, Illinois. Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, is facing charges that he allegedly killed Anthony M. Huber...

Karl Erwin Swanson knew his long-time friend was having medical problems, so he planned a trip to Minnesota to visit him. He wanted to console his buddy and go fishing with him, Swanson’s mother said Wednesday. But for reasons unknown to Corita Swanson, her 55-year-old son was fatally shot on Saturday, the day after he arrived from Tennessee. Karl E. Swanson (Courtesy of Corita Swanson) Prosecutors charged Jeffrey Alan Thomas, 55, on Monday with the murder of Swanson at Thomas’ Vadnais Heights’ home. In their 29 years of friendship, Swanson’s mother never heard of them having so much as an argument. “I just can’t understand it,” she said. Corita Swanson said her son was caring — he moved to Tennessee 15 years ago and was helping care for her as she aged, and it was concern for Thomas that led Karl to drive to Minnesota for a visit. CALL ABOUT DOG LED POLICE TO HIM Law enforcement responded to a call about a loose dog in Vadnais Heights Saturday — it was the Swanson family dog, and she and Karl...
