A roundup of wild horses in the Piceance-East Douglas, Colorado, is underway despite calls from Governor Jared Polis, Congressman Joe Neguse, In Defense of Animals, and other individuals and organizations to stop the operation. These pregnant mustangs and foals are forced to run for their lives amid heat waves, with temperatures soaring over 90 degrees. Source: CBS Colorado/Youtube According to In Defense of Animals (IDA), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) first scheduled the roundup for September but ended up using an “emergency” designation to speed up the operation that is now underway amid the hottest days of summer. These poor horses are being forced to run for miles into traps. As of July 25, 657 out of the goal of 1050 horses had been captured. BLM reportedly called for the emergency roundup because of the ‘poor conditions’ of horses. However, IDA says that facts, photos, and an independent ecological assessment of the Piceance East Douglas Herd Management Area show that the horses were healthy, in good condition, and had healthy foals. BLM says that the area in...

Peter Navarro, the former Trump White House aide who on Friday morning was arrested, handcuffed, and indicted on contempt of Congress charges, appeared outside a federal courthouse after his arraignment Friday afternoon and urged people to buy his book. Defiant, disrespectful, and disheveled, Navarro called the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack a “kangaroo committee.” He then pivoted, declaring, “I need everybody in America to buy [my] book on Amazon today. That is for two reasons: One, that’s going to be my legal defense fund – these people are coming at me hard – and number two, that book is about why we need to take back the House of Representatives from the kangaroos on Capitol Hill.” “A shaken and disheveled Peter Navarro emerges from court and urges people to buy his book so he can raise money for his legal defense.” — Ron Filipkowski 🇺🇦 (@Ron Filipkowski 🇺🇦) 1654288597 From Your Site Articles
Rodeos are packed full of cruel events that rely on the pain and suffering of animals for entertainment. However, “wild cow milking” might just be one of the worst events of them all. Source: In Defense of Animals/Youtube In Alameda County, California, this event will take place this weekend at the Rowell Ranch Rodeo. In Defense of Animals is urging animal activists to urge officials in the county to bring these abuse spectacles to an end finally. “Rodeo events are strictly designed for entertainment and are nothing more than displays of human domination over other animals for human ego gratification,” In Defense of Animals said on their website. Wild cow milking is a rodeo event that involves separating a distressed, lactating new mother cow from her calf and forcing her into a loud and bright arena. Then, two men on horseback chase her down, violently rope her, and then forcibly milk her before all of the cheering fans. The traumatized cows run away in terror, trying to escape. Cows are sentient creatures and mammals, and they experience deep, familial bonds between...
Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz used his five minutes quizzing the nation's top military leadership on Tuesday to accuse them of being so busy embracing 'critical race theory' and socialism that they had failed to predict the rise of the Taliban, overestimated Russian performance in Ukraine and allowed the US. to fall behind China. The result was a bad-tempered clash with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin when he appeared before the House Armed Services Committee. Austin insisted the U.S. still had the most effective fighting force in the world. 'Again, this is the most capable, the most combat critical force in the world it has been and it will be so going forward,' he said as Gaetz challenged his leadership. 'This budget allows us to do that.' 'Not if we embrace socialism,' interrupted Gaetz. 'The fact you are embarrassed by your country ... ' continued Austin, before being cut off again. 'Oh, no, I'm embarrassed by your leadership,' said Gaetz. 'I'm not embarrassed for my country. 'I wish we weren't losing to China.' Austin was appearing with the Chairman of the...
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin delivered an emotional tribute to former Secretary of State Colin Powell Monday shortly after learning of the death of a man he called a mentor. 'The world lost one of the greatest leaders that we have ever witnessed,' Austin. 'Alma lost a great husband, and the family lost a tremendous father and I lost a tremendous personal friend and mentor,' said Austin who as the nation's first black secretary of defense followed in Powell's footsteps. Powell was the first African American chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. 'He has been my mentor for a number of years. He always made time for me and I could always go to him with tough issues. He always had great counsel. We will certainly miss him. 'I feel as if I have a hole in my heart just learning of this,' said Austin, who spoke to TV cameras while traveling in Europe hours after Powell's family announced his passing. 'I feel as if I have a hole in my heart just learning of this,' said Defense Secretary...
Rogel Lazaro Aguilera-Mederos Rogel Aguilera-Mederos wept as he testified in his own defense Thursday, recounting to a Jefferson County jury how he lost control of the semitrailer he was driving on Interstate 70 in April 2019 and crashed into stopped traffic, killing four people. Aguilera-Mederos, 25, stopped frequently to regain his composure as he described how he’d intended to drive his speeding truck on the shoulder of the interstate until the steep terrain leveled out and he could slow down — his brakes were not working. But that plan became impossible, he told the jury, when another 18-wheeler was parked in the shoulder under an overpass near Colorado Mills Parkway in Lakewood. Testifying in Spanish through an interpreter, Aguilera-Mederos said he tried to hit the edge of the parked truck’s trailer to slow down and then attempted to steer toward what he described as a space between the parked truck and traffic stopped on the interstate. “But once I hit it, I was unable to control anything,” he said, his voice breaking. “I thought, ‘Dear God, don’t let anything bad...

Watt, 32, had three tackles — including two for a loss —...
DUBLIN — An East Bay man who was identified as a murder suspect by his nickname and corresponding physical trait — Red Beard — took the stand in his trial Tuesday, and admitted to a shooting he says was self-defense. R. Zacharia Grubbs, 47, testified as a defense witness after prosecutors rested their case against him in the 2018 fatal shooting of 35-year-old Andre Margain. Grubbs’ testimony covered events from to his own childhood to the aftermath of the shooting, which he said occurred just one week after Margain robbed him at gunpoint. Grubbs said he fired his pistol at Margain after Margain appeared to be reaching for his own gun. During cross-examination, prosecutors attempted to paint Grubbs as a vengeful drug dealer who’d made violent threats against others who crossed him. “I grabbed (my gun) and shot him once,” Grubbs testified Tuesday afternoon, later adding, “I thought he was going to kill me.” When Grubbs drove past Margain and saw no gun in his hand, he panicked and threw his pistol into Lake Chabot, he said under oath. When...

On Independence Day, 26-year-old Toledo police officer Anthony Dia was tragically killed in the line of duty after responding to a disturbance regarding a drunk man outside of a Home Depot store. Dia was reportedly shot in the chest by the man, who later killed himself, just after midnight, and was pronounced dead at an area hospital. “Witnesses told police the man shot the officer with a handgun and then went into a wooded area,” a Pittsburgh CBS affiliate reported. “At some point, officers heard a single gunshot coming from the woods, [Police Chief George Kral] said. The gunman, only described as a 57-year-old white male, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head around 3:15 a.m.” Officer Dia, a Lebanese-American and practicing Muslim, leaves behind a wife and two young sons.
