I had three topics I wanted to discuss with Rick Caruso about his run for mayor of Los Angeles, but we kept getting interrupted. The three things? His leadership style, and whether he has already alienated some of the city officials he’d need to work with to get things done. His vast wealth, and whether a billionaire — who cruises the world on a yacht and owns an oceanfront Santa Barbara hotel where a one-night stay can top $10,000 — can relate to Angelenos who struggle to stay housed in a city transformed by gentrification. And his plan on homelessness, which includes a promise to bring 30,000 people indoors in his first year. But I made the mistake of agreeing to sit outside with Caruso at a restaurant in the Grove, which he owns. A parade of people came by to meet him, shake his hand, wish him well, and take pictures of him and his golden retriever Hudson. “You’ve got my vote,” said one. “God bless you,” said another. The Grove has a Main Street Disneyland feel to...

UNFORTUNATELY, in this time and age, people should know how to defend themselves in the case of attempted kidnap, rape, or assault. Alysha Flynn, who runs a female running club, shared the ways she keeps safe when running out on her own – and yes, they can be used even when you're not running. 4A woman shared her personal safety hack that any woman can useCredit: TikTok 4She claimed it wasn't about the tools you carry to protect yourself but your confidence to use itCredit: TikTok Taking to TikTok, the fitness coach shared with her followers that she learned an important hack from one of the women she trains who is also a self-defense coach. "It has to be what's best for you as an individual," she began in her video as she herself ran along the tracks by herself. "The tool only works if you're trained, confident, and prepared to use it." She then explained that if, for example, you are carrying pepper spray on your run, you need to have it accessible and you need to be...
More from: Mark Cannizzaro Zach Wilson’s Jets leadership skills already shining through Giants have moved closer to being an NFC East favorite Aaron Rodgers is behaving like a ridiculous diva Azeez Ojulari is Dave Gettleman’s surprise NFL Draft trade prize Giants rivalry intensified by Eagles NFL Draft treachery There will come a time for the Jets to ask this question: “Will the real Michael Carter please stand up?’’ And when that time comes, they hope both of their Michael Carters stand up and contribute — Michael Carter, the former North Carolina running back they drafted in the fourth round last week, and Michael Carter II, the former Duke defensive back they drafted in the fifth round. Confused? ESPN was. When the Jets turned their pick in for Carter the running back, the network, on its NFL draft telecast, mistakenly showed highlights of Carter the cornerback. “When we took Michael Carter the running back, ESPN threw up Michael Carter II on the screen and we were like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute,’ and checked the notes and made sure...
The same processor that powered Apple's iconic, colorful 1998 iMac is being used to run NASA's Perseverance on Mars. The rover is fitted with a PowerPC 750 processor that was found in the iMac G3 before Apple switched to Intel chips in 2005, New Scientist reports. The processor, which is also found in the Curiosity rover, features just 10.4 million transistors - more than 1,000 times less than a smartphone. Although the idea of using an outdated, less powerful process may sound absurd, it is capable of withstands intense radiation and temperatures - two treacherous elements found in Mars. Matt Lemke, NASA's deputy manager for Orion's avionics, told The Space Review back in 2014: 'Compared to the [Intel] Core i5 in your laptop, it's much slower…it's probably not any faster than your smartphone.' 'But it's not about the speed as much as the ruggedness and the reliability. I need to make sure it will always work.' The Victoria's Secret model and her mini-me frolicked on the sand together. Alessandra Ambrosio proved her 12-year-old daughter Anja inherited her supermodel genes in an adorable new photo shared to Instagram. The former Victoria’s Secret Angel’s swimwear line, Gal Floripa, posted a shot on November 18 that showed them running along the sand together in the same pink bikinis. The mother-daughter duo held hands as they frolicked in the sun and shallow water. Anja looked at her mom and gave her a big smile while the 39-year-old Daddy’s Home actress proudly smiled back. Both wore the exact same top with thin strings over their shoulders and around their backs. It had frill across the top and a triangular cut-out. Alessandra wore skimpier bottoms in the same print. They sat well below her navel to show off her flat tummy, with the same string ties over her hips that highlighted her long, lean legs. The twosome showed off their undeniable family resemblance with their long brunette hair straight and down as their tanned skin glowed. They enjoyed some bonding time somewhere...
Republican Senator David Perdue mocked vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Friday by mispronouncing her name. Jill Biden said Joe Biden was 'close' on naming his running mate and she dinged President Donald Trump for criticizing her husband's cognitive ability. President Trump has challenged Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, to take a cognitive test and argued his rival wouldn't be able to beat his score. Jill Biden told Fox News on Tuesday that it was 'surprising' the president would say that and argued the two men are close in age. Trump, who brags about his intellect and calls himself a 'stable genius,' is 74 and Biden is 77.    'I think Donald Trump is really about Joe's age right? I think there's like two or three years difference. It's surprising that he would say Joe wouldn't be up to it and made those comments,' Jill Biden said.  Jill Biden said Joe Biden was 'close' on naming his running mate and she dinged President Donald Trump for criticizing her husband's cognitive ability during an interview with Fox News President Donald Trump has questioned Joe Biden's cognitive abilities and accused him of hiding in a...
By Julie Pace | Associated Press WASHINGTON — In the summer of 2016, Donald Trump was trailing in the polls. With time running out, he changed up his campaign leadership team, though not his own mercurial behavior. Four years later, and in the midst of another summer slump, Trump is hoping a similar campaign shakeup will help put him on the path to another come-from-behind victory in November, this time against Democrat Joe Biden. But there are multiple reasons why 2020 is a very different campaign year for Trump. Chief among them is Trump’s own positioning. Trump ran in 2016 as an outsider, someone who could shake up Washington and bring a businessman’s acumen to the federal government. Now, he’s the chief executive in Washington at a time of extraordinary national crises and facing overwhelmingly negative reviews from Americans for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and for his response to a national reckoning over race. The issue that needs to be addressed, according to some Republicans, isn’t how Trump’s campaign is run. It’s Trump...
