Military commanders who oversaw a training exercise in which nine service members died were burnt out by the pandemic, and overwhelmed by the prospect of war with Iran and Donald Trump's militarization of the southern border, according to a new report. Eight Marines and one sailor, aged 18-23, died on July 30, 2020, when their amphibious vehicle sank off the coast of California. The armored ship-to-shore transport craft took on water and sank off the coast of San Clemente Island, while returning to the USS Somerset.  On Wednesday the results of two investigations into the accident - one from the Marines, one from the Navy - were published. While not excusing failures in leadership, they found that the commanders were stressed out and struggling to deal with many competing demands.   An amphibious vehicle like the one pictured sank in July 2020, killing eight Marines and one sailor. The nation's largest wildfire, the Bootleg fire in southern Oregon has merged with the smaller Log fire and as of Friday, has burned more than 400,000 acres. It's one of 83 fires burning around the country, that have burned more than 1.3 million acres. All those acres burned are floating in a huge cloud blanketing much of the nation, stretching coast to coast. "It's mid-July and already nearly 450,000 acres have burned across the state," Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said Tuesday in a press conference. Since then, the area on fire in Oregon leapt to 522,680 acres. "It's shaping up to be another difficult wildfire season and unfortunately we're responding to new fires as we're still recovering from last year's devastating wildfire season," Brown said. "The amount of resources we've deployed, how many times we've deployed, in a three-week period we've deployed to six conflagrations," she said. ONCE upon a time, meddling women were burned at the stake and quarrelsome men beheaded. “Cancellation” in the Middle Ages was brutal. 8Sharon Osbourne has been hit by a string of allegationsCredit: YouTube Six centuries on, things aren’t much better. A little less bloody, maybe, but every bit as messy. Take Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne. One after the other, the pair, who happen to be pals, have been cancelled. Good Morning Britain’s Piers was forced to quit after deigning to criticise Meghan’s less-than-watertight Oprah revelations, while Sharon has been taken off air for defending her mate. And why? So that fat-cat execs, sitting in their ergonomic swivel chairs and reading a few hysterical tweets from snowflakes, can tell The Board (who ultimately decide their six-figure bonuses) that they are listening to The People. That they are moving with the times. In reality, viewers are deserting GMB in their masses, ITV has lost more than £200million in market value and shares are plummeting. Surely it won’t be long before advertisers, the lifeblood of commercial broad-casting, pull the plug too?...

I’d forgotten how to do that, learn how to create this completely different persona. I needed to ask, ‘so how’s this work once more?’ I regarded into artwork sellers I knew. Had conversations with them, plus individuals within the artwork world. I requested how the enterprise labored, how individuals make crooked offers, how they generate profits. I truly did homework.” It was shot round Italy’s Lake Como, a financial institution vault away from George Clooney’s palazzo.
