After seven weeks on the run, she was arrested on June 29 at a hostel on a remote Costa Rican beach. At the time, the U.S. Marshals Service said that Armstrong had changed her appearance, cutting and darkening her long blond hair. She also had a bandaged nose and black eyes, injuries she reportedly attributed to a surfing accident. A receipt said to have been found at the hostel indicates the bruising may have been the result of plastic surgery. According to Inside Edition, the paperwork, under another name, pertains to a payment of $6,350 for cosmetic surgery. Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 34, was arrested Wednesday at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas, the Marshals Service said in a statement. Armstrong was expected to be returned to the United States, where she faces a murder charge, the agency said. “The Marshals Service elevated the Kaitlin Armstrong investigation to major case status early in this investigation, which likely played a key role in her capture after a 43-day run,” said U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas Susan Pamerleau. Wilson, 25, was found dead May 11, and Austin police later issued a murder warrant for Armstrong. Wilson, a competitive gravel and mountain bike racer and Vermont native known as “Mo,” had been in Austin for a cycling event. According to an affidavit, Wilson had previously dated Armstrong’s boyfriend, cyclist Colin Strickland, who has cooperated with investigators and is not a suspect.
    A Texas woman accused of killing a cyclist involved with her bicycling boyfriend may have hopped a flight from Newark Airport days after the slaying last month, authorities said. Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 34, of Austin, went to New York City after killing 25-year-old Anna Moriah Wilson, of Vermont, who was in Austin for a race an involved with her partner, Colin Strickland, the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force said. Armstrong was dropped off at Newark Airport on May 18, however, a search of outbound flights found no reservations under Armstrong's name, the US Marshals said. Police responding to a call May 11 at a residence in the 1700 block of Maple Avenue in Austin found Wilson bleeding and unconscious from multiple gunshot wounds. They performed CPR on her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
