Hughes was the son of Suzanne Sevakis, who officials also believe was a kidnap and murder victim of Floyd. She used the name Sharon Marshall for much of her life, following her kidnap at about age 6. Floyd is on death row following convictions of Hughes’ kidnap and for first-degree murder in the death of Cheryl Commesso. The story was told on Netflix documentary, “Girl in the Picture,” which was released in July 2022. He's cold.'  Williams, 54, was pronounced dead in his Brooklyn penthouse on September 6 last year leaving the showbiz world reeling. He starred as Omar Little in groundbreaking HBO series The Wire, and was known for the distinct scar on his face. Dupont opened up about the tragedy this week to Jada Pinkett Smith on an episode of Red Table Talk about deadly opiate fentanyl, revealing that Williams, who had battled addiction in the past, seemed as though he was 'doing well'.  'I think a lot of what happened — what I saw on September 6 — I'm still processing,' Dupont said.  'Michael was an amazing human being.' Describing the moment he found Williams, Dupont said he stuck his head in the house and said: ''Uncle Mike, are you in here?'' And I observed him deceased.'  Dominic Dupont (L) and...

Netflix A Netflix promotional image for "Operation Mincemeat." “Operation Mincemeat” is a Netflix film based on a true story and the real-life World War II military operation from which the movie got its name. While the film is based on historical accounts, some characters and details are fictionalized. Director John Madden told the LA Times that relying solely on known historical facts would leave gaps in the story. “The story is about speculation,” Madden told the newspaper. “That’s what an espionage story is about. It’s about guesswork. It’s about hunches. It’s about filling in the gaps. That’s exactly what [the officers] are doing with the fiction they’re creating in the story and hoping that there are no gaps. But, of course, you’re left guessing, even when you’ve covered every single base. The story’s about the creation of a fiction, [and] we were creating our own fiction of this set of events, which themselves are not totally definitive. Because there’s a point where historical research won’t get you any further, and you just have to speculate.” Read More From...

We all know about the importance of doing exercise, but many of us struggle to find the time or motivation. So what is the least amount you can do and still see appreciable changes? Twenty minutes a day? Ten minutes? One minute? How about three seconds. Yes, extraordinary as that sounds (and I must admit I was gobsmacked when I first read the research), a recent study has shown that doing just three seconds a day of resistance exercise — that's exercise where you use your muscles to lift or pull something against resistance, such as weights — can measurably improve strength. Pictured: Miss USA contestant Jean Wills admires strongman Bob McAine's flexed bicep in 1950 In the study, published last month in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, researchers from Japan and Australia asked 39 healthy volunteers to take part in an unusual exercise regimen, working the bicep muscle in the arm. With their elbows on a flat surface, one group had to raise a lever against resistance; a second group had to hold the lever up,...
CUPPING is a strange but effective therapy that is favoured by some of the world's greatest athletes, including Olympic legend Michael Phelps. Cupping uses the suction of a sealed 'cup' on an area of the skin. Suction from cupping draws the skin upwards and into the cup. While the skin is drawn up it also brings fluid into the treatment area, the suction force expands and breaks open capillaries under the skin. This can make the skin look bruised because you are treating that area of the body like an injury and it can stimulate tissue healing. Who can perform cupping therapy? Cupping can only be performed by acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, medical doctors and...

Little House on the Prairie's leading man Michael Landon may have portrayed a wholesome family man on screen, but in reality the actor was 'more mad, bad, and dangerous to know', according to a former co-star. Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson in the hit 1970s show, said although she thought Landon was a 'marvelous' person, he was also 'manic', 'drank, smoked' told 'terrible jokes' and propagated a 'Mad Men' sexist and booze-drinking culture on set. The 59-year-old actress spoke to DailyMail.com after former co-star Karen Grassle, Landon's on-screen wife, accused the late TV star of refusing to pay her a 'fair wage', mocking her body, and making 'disgusting' jokes about sex, in her upcoming autobiography. On screen, Little House on The Prairie's Ma and Pa were the picture of marital bliss — but off-camera, there was no love lost between stars Michael Landon and Karen Grassle. Nearly 40 years after the nine-season hit show ended, Grassle, now 79, has revealed that she and Landon, who died in 1991, were hardly enamored of one another — and in fact, he could be quite cruel. In her upcoming memoir, Grassle recalled the 'disgusting' jokes Landon would tell on set, how he'd mock the way she looked, and that he 'insulted' her by insisting she shouldn't be paid more than the child actors on the show, which began airing in 1974. A Missouri man, 37, who was sentenced to prison for the death of his mother when he was just 14 years old because police said he showed no emotion as his mom lay lifeless on the floor could be freed as the state Supreme Court considers his case. Attorneys for Michael Politte, who was convicted at age 14 of killing his mother, last week asked the Missouri Supreme Court to free him after more than 22 years behind bars, citing now-disproven evidence, a faulty investigation and a flawed trial defense. Rita Politte was burned to death inside her mobile home in Hopewell, Missouri, in 1998. Prosecutors claimed Michael Politte used a blunt object to bash his mother’s head and then set the home on fire for her to burn. Police said they noticed that gasoline was found on his sneakers. Investigators believe that gasoline was also used to set her on fire.  The alleged traces of gasoline found on Michael's sneakers was the only piece of physical evidence linking him to the crime.  Today, Missouri officials acknowledge that the evidence...

Why Zion Williamson’s foot injury could spell trouble for the Pelicans, plus what Michael Porter Jr.’s max extension means for the Nuggets moving forward. Monday’s NBA headlines rightfully centered on a small but vocal group of maddeningly selfish and deeply misguided players using incoherent, bad-faith rhetoric to support grossly irresponsible and scientifically indefensible decisions to put both themselves and the general public at greater risk of fatal illness. The most surprising news of the day, however, had nothing to do with a star player’s vaccination status, but rather the state of his lower body. Pelicans executive David Griffin dropped a bombshell on reporters Monday afternoon when he revealed that Zion Williamson — the team’s lone source of present and future hope — suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal on his right foot earlier this summer and had surgery shortly afterward to repair it. Williamson was apparently injured “on the court while playing” before NBA Summer League, and the team is “hopeful he can start the season.” How concerning is the latest injury news for Zion Williamson? It isn’t particularly unusual for players...

Authorities say a body found in Grand Teton National Park is likely the remains of Gabby Petito. An autopsy will soon determine whether there were "any signs of violence," said forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden on "Fox & Friends" Monday. Authorities stated the investigation is still ongoing, noting that the body has yet to be 100% positively identified. A GABBY PETITO INVESTIGATION WITH NANCY GRACE: WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED TO THE 'VAN-LIFE' GIRL? DR. MICHAEL BADEN: The autopsy … should tell us whether there were any signs of violence or if possibly the death is natural or if they need to do toxicology to find out if there's any medication or drugs involved. But it sounds very ominous for both parties, unfortunately.  I think that police are treating this as if it were a homicide. They may have a lot more information than we have. But the autopsy will find if there's any violence, if there's any injury. Now, because an injury, a blunt force injury, is it a fall, is it because she was struck with a rock or something?...

Authorities in South Florida recovered the body of Cassondra ‘Cassie’ Stratton, the wife of a political strategist from Colorado who had been staying at the Surfside condo during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The 40-year-old’s body was identified on Sunday. We’re not exercising enough. We’re eating too much of the ‘wrong’ food. Our waists are too big. It’s pretty hard to ignore the daily barrage of messages about our bodies and health. The slings and arrows are well-intentioned because it’s known that these kinds of factors play a key role in health and the risk of developing a life-limiting chronic disease, such as type 2 diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, fatty liver disease, cancer, dementia — and, more recently, dying from Covid-19. Most Brits now spend the last 20 years of their lives in ill health, or with some form of disability. And these numbers are rising — thanks to our expanding waistlines, but also because we are moving too little and sitting for far too long. Nobody wants to end up like this. But, equally, nobody wants to feel they’re being told off about it. Not least because it can leave you feeling inadequate when it seems that the only option being offered is drastic life change. ‘Drastic life change’ may be what some of you are after; but others,...
As a medical student back in the 1980s, I had a fighting weight of 11 stone (70kg) and I didn't ever worry about my body size.  But like many people, I gained a few pounds in my 30s, and a few more in my 40s, letting out a notch on my belt and going up a waist size in trousers every time, but I'd look at myself in the mirror, suck my tummy in, and think: 'Yep, I'm in pretty good shape for a man my age.' Then a routine blood test in 2012 revealed, to my horror, that I had type 2 diabetes — and I subsequently learned that my stealthy weight gain had overwhelmed my body's ability to function properly and was now putting my health at risk. DR MICHAEL MOSLEY: A routine blood test in 2012 revealed, to my horror, that I had type 2 diabetes What shocked me was the way fat had accumulated around my abdomen so gradually I had been somehow lured into the obesity trap without even noticing. I am certainly not...
For most people, the past 12 months have been really tough, but some businesses have thrived — it seems 2020 was a fantastic year for supplement manufacturers, with nearly £500 million in UK sales, up a record 14 per cent compared with 2019. We swallowed their products in record numbers partly because we’re all more health conscious, but also in the hope of protecting ourselves and our loved ones from Covid-19.  But to what extent was this money down the drain? Which of us is really lacking in vitamins or minerals? Let’s start with vitamin D, which I have been taking in pill form over the winter months.  The Curtin University team suggests that as well as vitamin and mineral deficiency being more common in people who are overweight or obese, this lack of nutrients may in turn be contributing to over-eating, causing a vicious circle where your brain, knowing it is short on crucial nutrients, will make you eat more unconsciously, to make up the shortfall Vitamin D is good for your bones, but it is also vital...
Michael Jackson's body language 'tips the scales in favour of him telling the truth' when refuting the child abuse allegations made against him, behaviour experts have claimed.   In shocking new documentary, Michael Jackson: A Faking It Special, which can be streamed on discovery+, experts in body language, speech and psychology examine video footage of the 'King of pop.' They analyse in detail a 2003 documentary, fronted by Martin Bashir, where the singer allowed cameras unprecedented access into his Neverland ranch to film Living With Michael Jackson.  Among the topics discussed in the film was Jackson's relationship with children. Sitting down and holding the hand of a then 12-year-old Gavin Arvizo, Jackson reveals to Bashir that not only does he invite disadvantaged children to his ranch, but he also lets them sleep in his bed while he sleeps on the floor in a sleeping bag.  And according to the experts, Michael Jackson's 'natural' body language - including spontaneous corrections and consistency of his behaviour, vocal tone and choice of words - are all reliable indicators he is telling the truth when refuting the child abuse allegations made...

My son Daniel revels in it, but for me, that daily shower — or rather, the 40-second blast of pure cold water at the end — is something I rather dread. Of course, the discomfort is momentary, and afterwards I feel alert and ready for the day.  This is one of ten really simple things, — all based on good science — I’ve incorporated into my daily routine for my physical and mental wellbeing. They also all fit in with the SMART approach, a technique proven to help you stick to goals.  To test your balance stand on one leg: you should be able to do more than 30 seconds with your eyes open and at least eight seconds with them closed. To improve your balance try Tai Chi — or stand on one leg brushing your teeth, which is what I do SMART stands for: Specific — For example, set yourself the goal of not just ‘going for a walk’, but ‘going for a walk in the morning at over 100 paces a minute’. Measurable — Set a...

On a night in July 1993, in between Wilmington and Charlotte, North Carolina, James Jordan, the father of NBA superstar Michael Jordan, decided to pull his flashy red Lexus to the side of the road. He reclined his seat to take a nap before continuing on his journey and was shot once in the head and died. According to law enforcement, Jordan was the victim of a botched robbery. The triggerman was determined to be 18-year-old local Daniel Andre Green, who was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in the high profile 1996 trial. But for the past nearly three decades that Green has been incarcerated, he maintains he’s not responsible for the death of the basketball legend’s father. Moment of Truth, a five-episode docuseries by IMDb TV and available on Amazon Prime Video on April 2, takes a hard look at the murder by weaving in the complex history of Robeson County, the investigation, and interviews with an innocence project lawyer to poke holes in both law enforcement and the prosecution’s evidence, making a powerful case for...

Madison Summers November 26, 2020 0 Comments Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is sharing his distaste with President Donald Trump’s pardoning of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. The House Intelligence Committee chair told CNN on Wednesday that the pardon “is a body blow to our national security.” “It’s also a body blow to the rule of law and I think makes a mockery of our democracy to those watching from around the world,” Schiff added. Asked by Acosta about Republican lawmakers praising Trump’s pardon of Flynn, Schiff hit back that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has “no bottom to his willingness to debase himself to earn Trump’s favor.” Later, Schiff suggested Trump “may even try to pardon himself.” When asked if he can “do anything” if Trump tries to pardon himself, Schiff said he has introduced a bill where “you cannot self-pardon.” Trump said on Wednesday that he pardoned Flynn, who previously pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
