Zion Williamson came up big for the New Orleans Pelicans over the weekend and joined an exclusive club for his record-breaking performance. On Saturday night, the Pelicans suffered a critical loss to the San Antonio Spurs which could possibly squash their playoff hopes this season. Now for the good news: Williamson broke a pretty incredible record that night. Even though Williamson recorded 33 points and 14 rebounds, his double-double wasn’t enough to secure the win for the Pelicans in a game that had fans grumbling about free throws. It was, however, enough to join the 2,000 career points club. With Saturday night’s numbers, Williamson reached the 2,000 career point mark in just his 79th game. In the last 40 years, the only player that’s done it quicker is Michael Jordan, for whom it took 73 games in 1985.Zion Williamson reaches 2,000 career points in fewer than two seasonsThe 20-year-old scoring phenomenon puts himself shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best company. Currently, his record ties that of Rick Barry and Elgin Baylor, placing him 10th fastest in NBA history. Prior to...

by J.D. Davidson  Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan, an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, easily won re-election to Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District in an election that had few surprises statewide. However, as the night wore on, Ohio’s presidential outcome became more interesting nationwide as the race for the state’s 18 electoral votes continued to tighten between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. With 82% of the vote reported at 10:30 p.m. EST, Trump held 52.4% of the vote, leading Biden by nearly 6 points, but the state remained too close to call. Jordan, a seven-term congressman, easily turned away Democratic challenger Susan Freshour, holding more than a 30-point lead with 97% of the vote counted. The only race that seemed in doubt for a U.S. House of Representative incumbent was in District 12, where Republican Troy Balderson trailed Democratic Alaina Shearer early in the night but rallied later. With nearly 75% of the vote counted, Balderson held a 12-point lead and looked on his way to winning. Ohio Secretary of State Frank...
It’s a do-or-die situation for the Miami Heat tomorrow in the NBA Finals Game 5 as the Los Angeles Lakers hold a 3-1 lead in the series and the chances of recovery are slim to none. More than that, Jimmy Butler and Co. just have to focus on forcing the Los Angeles based franchise to Game 6 before they can talk about winning the championship title. When we talk about the key players of the Miami Heat, Butler is the first player on everyone’s mind. Without a doubt, he is the vocal leader of the team, and if it weren’t for his consistency in clutch moments, the Heat would not have achieved so much success in the Playoffs. Not too dissimilar to players like Tyler Herro, he has broken his fair share of records over the course of this season. During Game 3 of the NBA Finals, he etched his name closer to legends like Jerry West and LeBron James. He became the third player in the NBA’s history to record a 40-point triple-double, that too in the NBA Finals....

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award for the second consecutive season. Antetokounmpo, 25, is now in select company as only the third player in league history to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honors in the same season. The others are Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. “Michael Jordan, one of the best players who’s ever done it, if not the best,” Antetokounmpo said Friday. “Hakeem, a guy that I look up to, he came from where I’m from, Nigeria, where I have roots. Just being in the same sentence with them, that means a lot to me.” Antetokounmpo is also the 11th player to be named MVP in back-to-back seasons. The others are Jordan, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Steve Nash, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Moses Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. “Giannis, in our minds, has done more than enough to deserve back-to-back MVPs,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said earlier this summer. “What he does for us on both ends of the...
