    Americans are forecasted to dish out $84 per person on food, fireworks, beer and other festivities for Fourth of July celebrations this year, up $4 from last year.  The National Retail Federation's Independence Day survey of more than 8,200 Americans found that 84 percent of people plan to celebrate the holiday, the same as last year, but still below pre-pandemic numbers.  The number of people planning cookouts, however, has dipped to 59 percent, down from 61 percent last year, as the cost of ingredients have shot up by more than $10 in 2022 as the nation deals with soaring inflation.     A young girl died on her 12th birthday, while still wearing her pink birthday sash and tiara, after she was hit by a stray bullet in a gang related shooting as she and her family returned home from a restaurant, authorities said. Nyzireya Moore was pronounced dead shortly before noon on Friday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office and police said.  She had been in critical condition at Comer Children's Hospital with severe brain injuries since Tuesday night's shooting in the city's West Englewood neighborhood. Nyzireya was on her way back from a birthday dinner with her family when she was shot.  She was in the passenger seat of a family member's car when three men fired on another vehicle and a stray bullet struck her in the back of the head, police said.  The Moore's car was not the intended target.   Nyzireya's relative heard the gunshots before realizing the girl had been hit in the back of her head.     A Los Angeles mother-of-five was out celebrating her 30th birthday and that of a relative over the weekend when authorities say she tripped and fells off a party bus onto a busy freeway, where she was fatally struck by a vehicle.     ROME (AP) — Pope Francis doubled down Saturday on his efforts to quash the old Latin Mass, forbidding the celebration of some sacraments according to the ancient rite in his latest salvo against conservatives and traditionalists. The Vatican’s liturgy office issued a document that clarified some questions that arose after Francis in July took the extraordinary step of re-imposing restrictions on celebrating the so-called Tridentine rite. Francis’ July move outraged conservatives and traditionalist, given it amounted to a direct reversal of one of the singular policies of Pope Benedict XVI. Francis said in July he had to take action because Benedict’s 2007 decision to relax restrictions on celebrating the old Latin Mass had divided the church and been exploited by conservatives on ideological grounds. Francis authorized Saturday’s further restrictions, which in practical terms will make it exceedingly difficult for traditionalists to access the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, Marriage using the old rite. Prior to his false positive for COVID-19 last week, James celebrated a clutch fourth-quarter three-pointer during the Lakers' overtime win over the Pacers in Indianapolis on November 24 by grabbing his crotch and pantomiming giant testicles between his legs.     CONCORD (KPIX) — Thousands of first responders were working on Thanksgiving Day, spending the holiday away from their families but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t time to celebrate. In the driveway behind Contra Costa County fire station 6 in downtown Concord, fire engineer Jeff Ornellas was deep-frying a turkey. “I’d probably say I’m going on like seven years of at-work Thanksgivings. All seven have been fried,” he said laughing. “This originally started out as a crab cooker,” he explained as he stood by his deep-fryer. Now he has become the “Turkey Dude.” The turkey cooked for an hour and a half and, within a few minutes of Ornellas pulling the bird out of the boiling oil, a medical emergency call came in to the station. Ornellas asked another firefighter to cover the turkey with foil as he and the engine crew rushed to the truck bay. Turkey will have to wait. “When they come back, we’ll cut it up,” said one of the other firefighters. Twenty minutes later, they were back.     NANTUCKET (CBS/AP) – President Joe Biden and his family are spending a private Thanksgiving on Nantucket, continuing a long family tradition. The Bidens arrived on the island Tuesday night with their children and grandchildren. They’re staying at the home of billionaire businessman David Rubenstein, a family friend. They have no public events scheduled during their visit. According to Nantucket Magazine, the Bidens started spending Thanksgiving on the island back in 1975. Joe and Jill Biden were still dating when they first visited Nantucket, with Biden’s sons, Beau and Hunter, in the mid-1970s. The couple was looking for a way out of choosing which of their families to spend Thanksgiving with, the first lady wrote in her memoir. Biden was a U.S. senator back then and his chief of staff suggested they go to Nantucket. “And although neither Joe nor I had ever been, we decided that sounded as good as anywhere,” she wrote.     A New Jersey dad caught the internet's attention celebrating his son being cancer free. Kennith Allen Thomas' TikTok video called "when your son is cancer free" had more than 1.3 million views as of Nov. 2. According to Fox News, Thomas curbed classes at his Pennsauken dance studio in 2018, when his son, Kristian, was diagnosed with leukemia. "When my son was diagnosed with leukemia I said ‘There’s no way this disease is going to kill my son,'" Thomas said in a TikTok video posted last July. “We live in a world where we allow ourselves to be diagnosed with pain... fear.  "When my son was diagnosed with cancer we made a decision: Nothing unwanted would prevail. So we diagnosed our son with positivity… love. The tech giant's website features  a video showing snapshots of Jobs' life, footage of him presenting the iPhone in 2007 and other moments of his career.
