An MRI showed no serious damage to the left foot of Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum, coach John Harbaugh said, but the first-round draft pick could miss a week or more of training camp. “It’s not going to be all of training camp unless something changes,” Harbaugh said Friday, noting that the rookie will push to come back sooner rather than later. Linderbaum left practice Thursday after he hurt his foot while blocking on a running play. He walked off on his own power. He has worked as the team’s starting center throughout training camp, just as Harbaugh said he would after he was drafted. But his absence will lead to more reps for backups Patrick Mekari and Trystan Colon and give the Ravens a chance to audition emergency candidates to step in at center on game days. “We’ve got to get some other guys ready,” Harbaugh said. No. 1 wide receiver Rashod Bateman also missed practice Friday with what Harbaugh described as a “minor thing.” Though any injury to Bateman is a concern after groin surgery cost him the start...

The threat of Wimbledon being stripped of ranking points came closer to reality on Tuesday night when the head of the women’s tour backed the idea. WTA Chief Executive Steve Simon told a heavily-attended conference call of leading players that he was formally recommending it as a response the banning of Russians and Belarussians from SW19. NEW Year surprise stimulus checks are being sent out next week but some Americans are being warned to take urgent steps to secure the $1,000 payment. States across the country are helping their residents this holiday season with final bonus payments of the year. 1Connecticut residents have one week to sign up for the state's $1,000 stimulus checkCredit: Getty Some lucky residents are in for a treat as several states now have their own programs to benefit the people who live there, with each local government deciding who qualifies for a fourth stimulus check and how much they will receive. In Connecticut, Governor Ned Lamont announced the Back to Work program for $1,000 in stimulus checks, starting on May 30, 2021, which will continue until December 31, 2021. “Many workers who were displaced during the early months in the pandemic and faced long-term unemployment are now transitioning back into the workforce and starting to rebuild,” Lamont said. “This one-time bonus payment will help some of those workers pay for the critical things they need to get back to work, including childcare. Under the legislation, some Americans may receive a $1,400 payment if they’re eligible for a plus-up check. The plus-up payments will be sent out to those who received a stimulus check based on their 2019 tax return or information obtained from the Social Security Administration. To be eligible for the plus-up payment, you must have earned less in 2020 versus 2019. For example, if something changed on your 2020 tax return - like you made less money or added a dependent - you may be eligible for the plus-up payments. CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry could miss multiple games with a sprained medial collateral ligament suffered in Sunday’s win over Houston. Landry got hurt while being tackled at the end of a 9-yard completion on Cleveland’s second offensive play. He didn’t return in the Browns’ 31-21 home-opening victory. Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Landry will be “week to week” but provided no other specifics on a timeline for his return. Stefanski did not rule Landry out for this week’s game against Chicago. However, it’s unlikely Landry will be back quickly from this type of knee injury, which typically takes three to four weeks of recovery time. Landry tweeted that he’s been fitted with a knee brace. “Every Time I put this brace on somebody gon have to pay for it in the near future,” he wrote. Stefanski said “we’ll see” when asked if Landry can avoid going on injured reserve. Any player moved to IR must miss a minimum of three games. Getty Images Kansas City DT Chris Jones is the latest Chiefs player affected by COVID-19. Just days ahead of a Week 9 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, the Kansas City Chiefs are again experiencing the first-hand effects of COVID-19. On Thursday afternoon, the defending Super Bowl champions placed Pro Bowl DT Chris Jones on the reserve/COVID-19 list, as first reported by ESPN’s Field Yates. However, Kansas City Star columnist Sam Mellinger has since confirmed that the decision was not a result of a positive COVID test, but rather a precautionary contact tracing measure. I'm told Chris Jones is on the Covid-19 list because of contact tracing, not a positive test. — Sam Mellinger (@mellinger) November 5, 2020 Jones practiced with the team on Thursday in a limited capacity, but his status for Sunday is now in doubt due to the league’s enhanced COVID protocols, which will require the fifth-year veteran to sit out for at least five days if he remains asymptomatic and produces negative tests. New York Giants: Sterling Shepard injury update, could miss more time By: Alexander Wilson October 16, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Giants have struggled to get their passing game going through five weeks, and a big part of that is due to the absence of Sterling Shepard. As their top slot option and security blanket for Daniel Jones, losing him has been catastrophic. However, even though two weeks when Shepard was present, he didn’t make a significant impact. He only tallied 76 yards and eight receptions against Pittsburgh and Chicago before suffering a turf toe injury that has kept him out since. The Giants inevitably put him on injured reserve, and he is likely to miss the week six contest against the Washington Football Team as the injury lingers. Did not see Sterling Shepard at practice (makes sense due to the conditions). Again, safe to rule him out for this week. TBD for the Eagles game next Thursday. NEW YORK (AP) — New York Jets wide receiver Breshad Perriman could be sidelined for some games after spraining his left ankle against San Francisco on Sunday. Perriman left the 31-13 loss midway through the second quarter and didn’t return. “He may miss a game or possibly two,” coach Adam Gase said Monday. The Jets are at Indianapolis next Sunday and then have a short week with a Thursday night game at home against Denver. Perriman was one of the Jets’ top free agent signings this winter, giving him a one-year deal worth $8 million with $6 million guaranteed. The speedy receiver was expected to give Sam Darnold and the offense a deep threat and someone who could replace Robby Anderson in that role. Perriman missed some time in training camp with a knee injury, but returned in time for the regular season. He had two catches for 12 yards against the 49ers, and has just five receptions for 29 yards this season. Despite the low production, his absence looms large for the short-handed Jets. NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Jets’ struggling offense could be without wide receiver Jamison Crowder against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Coach Adam Gase said Thursday that Crowder would sit out practice with a hamstring injury, leaving his availability for the game uncertain. Crowder was limited at practice Wednesday, but the Jets want to be cautious with their leading receiver. “We’ll be evaluating him further and see where that takes us,” Gase said. Crowder had his first 100-yard receiving game for the Jets in the season opener last Sunday at Buffalo when he caught seven passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. He had a career-high 78 receptions last season in his first season with the Jets and has become a favorite target of Sam Darnold. Crowder was targeted 13 times against the Bills. The wide receiver was listed on the injury report last week with a hamstring issue, but practiced fully every day. Gase said Crowder was running earlier this week and “kind of pulled up.” “He gets tight sometimes,” Gase said. “Obviously, he’s missing practice...
