by Harold Hutchison   Democratic Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri abruptly ended an interview with a St. Louis reporter Monday after being asked about a possible re-election bid by President Joe Biden. “Do you want to see Joe Biden run for a second term?” a reporter asked Bush in a video posted by Mark Maxwell, political editor for KSDK News on Twitter. “I don’t want to answer that question,” Bush said, “He’s the President. He has the right to run for a second term.” Does Congresswoman Cori Bush want to see Joe Biden run for a second term? California Gov. Gavin Newsom is making several high-profile stops in Washington following his digs at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis – but he still said he backs President Joe Biden in 2024. Newsom, who turned back a recall election effort last year, sparked new presidential rumors when he made a $105,000 ad buy on Fox News hitting DeSantis, who has emerged as a top potential rival to former President Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. 'I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight -- or join us in California, where we still believe in freedom,' Newsom says in the July 4th ad, which has the feel of a political campaign spot. On Wednesday, Newsom met privately with First Lady Jill Biden at the White House.  California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) sparked attention when he bought a TV ad slamming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Fox News He said the two spoke 'all things education' including 'what's going on in many of those red states.'  He also collected an award from the Education Commission of the States....
California Governor Gavin Newsom To some, the idea of a presidential run from California Gov. Gavin Newsom sounds like a thrilling and shiny new Democratic option. A Harvard CAPS–Harris Poll survey shared exclusively with The Hill found that 71% of Americans are not in favor of President Joe Biden running for a second term. But is changing horses mid-race, or even contemplating a new horse, the best strategy at this point? If you’re wondering where all this “Newsom is running for president” business started, it began with a TV ad that ran in Florida last week—a serious shot across the bow from Newsom to Florida Republican and main fascist in charge Gov. Ron DeSantis. In the ad, Newsom says, “It’s Independence Day, so let’s talk about what’s going on in America. Freedom? It’s under attack in your state. Your Republican leaders, they’re banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors. I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight, or join us in California, where we still believe...
Over 70% of voters do not want President Joe Biden to run for a second term, according to a new poll. Just 29% of voters would back a reelection bid for Biden, whose approval ratings have been slipping in recent months, and 71% would discourage a run for a second term, an uptick from the 64% of adults who said Biden shouldn't run again in a mid-June poll conducted by YouGov and Yahoo. “President Biden may want to run again but the voters say ‘no’ to the idea of a second term, panning the job he is doing as president. Only 30 percent of Democrats would even vote for him in a Democratic presidential primary,” Mark Penn, co-director of the poll, told the Hill. VOTERS ITCHING TO PUNISH WASHINGTON ON BORDER CRISIS, 67% FAIL BIDEN But former President Donald Trump does not fare much better, with over 60% of voters polled saying he should not run in 2024 and only 39% saying he should run again, according to the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez laughed and dodged a question on whether or not she would consider a run for president in 2024 during an appearance on the Colbert Show.  'I know somebody who's going to turn 35 about a month before the election in 2024 and they represent New York's 14th. Is that job appealing to you at all?' host Stephen Colbert asked the New York Democrat.  Ocasio-Cortez shot back: 'We need to focus on keeping a democracy for anybody to be president in the next couple of years. That's my central focus is helping the people of this country right now.' 'So it's possible?' Colbert asked. The congresswoman laughed and said, 'I don't know about all that ... you're trying to get me in trouble, I don't know about all that.'  The question was posed amid not-so-silent whispers that Democrats are not fully confident that President Biden, who will be 81 in 2024, will be up for running again.  'I know somebody who's going to turn 35 about a month before the election in 2024 and they represent New York's...
The Atlantic ran a damning article on Thursday stating President Joe Biden should not seek reelection in 2024 because it would be “immediately liberating” for Biden if he were to bow out of 2024 consideration. Just days after the White House emphatically stated Biden would seek a second term, the Atlantic‘s Mark Leibovich announced opposition to the idea, citing poll numbers, Biden’s age, and political strategy. “The ‘whispers’ are becoming shouts,” the article said about Biden’s lack of ability to handle the job another term due to his age. “It has become thoroughly exhausting—for Biden and his party and, to some extent, the country itself. But the question quiets considerably when no one’s calculating how old a president born during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration will be in 2028.” According to polling, a majority of voters believe Biden is unfit to be president and doubt his mental ability. Fifty-three percent of respondents said they had “doubts” about Biden’s mental ability. Sixty-two percent said Biden is not fit to be president because he is too old. The publication strategized that if Biden decided not to...
President Joe Biden is running for reelection, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reaffirmed Monday, after being pressed at a briefing over record inflation following a report featuring Democratic fretting about the president's age. Jeane-Pierre began her response by mentioning limitations on what she can say about politics when speaking from the White House podium when asked directly if the president is running for reelection.   'He hasn't – first of all, let's let's reset for a second,' she began. 'I cannot talk about elections. I cannot be a political analyst from here, or, you know, or the midterms or anything like that, including 2024. The President, as you know, has been asked that question many times, and he has answered it  'His answer has been pretty simple. Which is yes, he's running for reelection. I can't say more than that,' she said. 'His answer has been pretty simple. Which is yes, he's running for reelection. Top Democrats across the country said President Joe Biden should not run for re-election in 2024 as they expressed worries over his current leadership and age. Nearly all 50 Democratic officials interviewed by the New York Times feared a Biden re-election campaign would not help their party against Republicans, who are expected to make sweeping victories in the coming midterms. Democratic National Committee (DNC) member Steve Simeonidis, of Miami, said he was generally pessimistic about his party's leadership and called on Biden, 79, to let someone new take over in 2024.  'To say our country was on the right track would flagrantly depart from reality,' Simeonidis told the Times. '[Biden] should announce his intent not to seek re-election in '24 right after the midterms.' Shelia Huggins, another member of the DNC from Durham, North Carolina, was more critical of the president. 'Democrats need fresh, bold leadership for the 2024 presidential race,' she said. 'That can't be Biden.' Nearly all 50 Democratic officials interviewed by the New York Times said Joe Biden (pictured on Friday) should not run for president DNC...
Elon Musk says Donald Trump should skip the 2024 election even as he vows to restore the former president's Twitter account. The Tesla CEO shared his views on US politics in a series of tweets Thursday evening. He said Trump shouldn't run for office because a 'less divisive candidate would be better in 2024,' before going on to criticize Joe Biden for thinking 'he was elected to transform the country, but actually everyone just wanted less drama.' On Tuesday, the South African mogul revealed he would reverse Trump's ban from the platform.  Trump was banned last January after public outcry surrounding the storming of the Capitol and his insistence that the 2020 election was 'stolen' from him. Nearly one-third of voters say Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis should only run for president in 2024 if former President Donald Trump decides not to, an Echelon Insights survey released this week found. The survey, taken January 21-23, 2022, among 1,029 national registered voters, asked Republicans and Republican-leaning voters who they would vote for in the primary race if Trump did not run, resulting in a lead for DeSantis, who headed the pack in that scenario with 28 percentage points. Only two other hypothetical candidates garnered double-digit support — former Vice President Mike Pence (16 percent) and Donald Trump Jr. (11 percent).  However, the survey then asked, “If the 2024 Republican presidential primaries were being held today and you had to make a choice, for whom would you vote?” giving voters a choice between Trump and DeSantis. In that scenario, Trump leads by double digits — 57 percent to DeSantis’s 32 percent. Of those, 41 percent said they would “definitely” vote for Trump, compared to 17 percent who said they would “definitely” vote for the Florida governor.  The survey then asked...

Former President Trump blasted members of his own party on Saturday, demanding that Congressional Republicans show some 'spine' as he unleashed his anger after they allowed President Biden more time to raise the debt ceiling. In front of thousands of adoring fans at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, he delivered a greatest hits show.  He attacked Biden's spending plans as a 'socialist calamity' that would unleash stagflation, boasted that he never conceded the 2020 election but directed his biggest blast of anger at Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell for working with Democrats to lift the debt ceiling. 'Congressional Republicans must stay strong. This isn't the time for Republicans to fold, to walk away, to quit, to be afraid,' he said. 'Whatever happens, happens. Don't worry about being impeached, don't worry about anything... 'But they just don't seem to have the spine some of them.' Last week 11 Republican senators voted with Democrats to suspend the filibuster, effectively allowing them more time to stave off a looming debt default. 'They can now have two more months to work out how to screw...
Steve Bannon presented a breathless timeline in which he said former President Donald Trump should become House speaker and lead an impeachment effort against President Joe Biden before resigning to run for the White House in 2024. The former White House chief strategist discussed the unprecedented scenario during an episode of his War Room show on Wednesday while criticizing Biden's handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal. After saying "people should be court-martialed" over U.S. forces abandoning Bagram Airfield , which some have opined could have been used to help with evacuations following the Taliban's rapid takeover of the country, Bannon said this issue could be "one of the big charges eventually brought" against Biden. "This thing is going to be huge," Bannon continued. "That's why I say, hey, Donald Trump should be elected the speaker of the House after [Republicans] have the sweeping victory in November '22, at least for 100 days, take the gavel from [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi, gavel him in, start the impeachment process. In 100 days, punch out and go run for president of the United States...
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has issued a call for President Biden to take charge of rapidly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan and launch America air strikes against the Taliban who are surrounding the Afghan capital, Kabul.   It looks like the Biden demonstration has just failed in its execution of its own plan. It looks like they are now trying to get folks out. It also looks like there's a bit of panic having to reinsert soldiers to get them out,' Pompeo began.  'I hope we get these folks out. I hope they will bring the airpower. They should go crush these Taliban who are surrounding Kabul. We should do it with American airpower, we should put pressure on them, we should inflict cost and pain on them,' Pompeo demanded. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed President Joe Biden amid the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan If I were still the Secretary of State with a Commander in Chief like President Trump, the Taliban would have understood that there were real costs to pay if there were plots against America....
NEW YORK -- The head of the Republican National Committee on Wednesday declined to encourage former President Donald Trump to run for the White House in 2024, saying the GOP would stay "neutral" in its next presidential primary. In an interview, RNC Chairman Ronna McDaniel also described the pro-Trump conspiracy theory group known as QAnon as "dangerous."The national GOP, under McDaniel's leadership, spent the past four years almost singularly focused on Trump's 2020 reelection. But should he run again in 2024 - and he has publicly and privately suggested he wants to - the national party infrastructure would not support his ambitions over other prospective candidates in accordance with party rules, she said."The party has to stay neutral. I'm not telling anybody to run or not to run in 2024," McDaniel told The Associated Press when asked whether she wanted to see Trump run again in the next presidential election. "That's going to be up to those candidates going forward. What I really do want to see him do, though, is help us win back majorities in 2022."Just months removed from...
A majority of Republican voters have expressed the belief that former President Donald Trump should run for president again in 2024, a recent Politico/Morning Consult survey revealed. Wednesday morning’s Politico Playbook detailed the position Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) finds himself in during the early Trump post-presidency days. While he and other Republican leaders are resuming with business as usual, they find themselves in a particularly unique position, as a sizeable portion of the Republican Party continues to support Trump and his MAGA agenda. Some Republican lawmakers moved to distance themselves from Trump following the January 6 Capitol riots, which resulted in Democrats in the House, as well as ten Republicans, impeaching Trump for the incitement of insurrection. McConnell has found himself in the midst of the controversy, failing to specify if he will vote to convict the former president, while expressing the belief that Trump and others “provoked” the mob. However, he was among 45 GOP senators who raised constitutional concerns over the pending Senate impeachment trial on Tuesday: The Senate just voted on my constitutional point of order. 45...

Bradley Cortright January 19, 2021 0 Comments Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) says President Donald Trump should be disqualified from ever running for office again due to what he sees as the president’s role in inciting the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol. “After what he has done, the consequences of which we were all witness to, Donald Trump should not be eligible to run for office ever again,” Schumer said during a speech on Tuesday. He continued, “All of us want to put this awful chapter in our nation’s history behind us. But healing and unity will only come if there is truth and accountability, not sweeping such a severe charge, such awful actions under the rug.” “So let me be clear, there will be an impeachment trial in the United States Senate. There will be a vote on convicting the president for high crimes and misdemeanors. And if the president is convicted, there will be a vote on barring him from running again,” he added. Watch the video below: Senate Minority Leader Schumer on impeachment: "Healing and unity will...
Attorney Lin Wood has suggested Georgia's GOP senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, as well as Governor Brian Kemp, should be arrested for election fraud while also urging Republicans not to vote in the state's run-off. Wood, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, tweeted a poster which read: 'The Georgia election fraud committed by anti-Trump RINOs Brian Kemp, Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue against President Trump and Doug Collins was accomplished using the Dominion Voting Systems Algorithm. 'The algorithm was never designed for unheard-of levels of GOP non-participation. The algorithm will steal votes from the GOP, but there will be so few in heavily Democratic precincts that GOP vote totals will go negative.' 'The fraud will be so obvious, SCOTUS can then invalidate the presidential election. Real conservative senators can then be appointed, after Kemp, Perdue and Loeffler's arrest,' the poster adds.  Attorney Lin Wood, pictured, has suggested Georgia's GOP senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue as well as Governor Brian Kemp should be arrested while also urging Republicans not to vote in the state's run-off Wood...
President Trump's campaign is asking supporters whether he should run for office again in 2024 in an e-mail that simultaneously seeks help keeping Republicans in control of the Senate. In concert with the president's assertions that the 2020 presidential election was "rigged" against him, the email includes a link to a poll on the campaign's website claiming the "Radical Left" stole the race. TRUMP HINTS AT 2024 PRESIDENTIAL RUN IN REMARKS AT WHITE HOUSE PARTY "Rest assured, YOUR President will NEVER stop fighting for YOU and YOUR family," the email reads. "He will do whatever it takes to ensure America is put FIRST, which is why he asked us to reach out with ONE very important question." Upon completing the "Yes" or "No" poll, recipients are asked to donate to Georgia's January runoff elections. The twin races have increased significance this year as they will decide control of the Senate, creating a 50-50 split that would give Vice President-elect Kamala Harris a tie-breaking vote. While the Trump campaign and the president have claimed widespread voter and ballot irregularities in the Nov. 3 election,...
Is the Trump campaign finally conceded defeat in the 2020 election? Or are they using the promise of a 2024 campaign for another term for outgoing President Donald Trump simply as a gift to raise more money? These are the questions currently being posed by the greatest political minds in Washington D.C. Or maybe just in this humble blog post. First reported by CNN’s Betsy Klein, the subject of the email asks “Should President Trump run in 2024?” This suggests that the campaign has come closer to conceding Trump lost the 2020 election, six weeks after all major media outlets projected President-elect Joe Biden as the winner. Or perhaps, they are seeing a third term for President Trump? One can never truly know the thinking behind such promotional missives. The email opens with the declarative and nakedly false statement “Let’s make something clear: the Radical Left STOLE this election from President Trump.” The word “stole” is in all caps to make sure readers get that idea clearly, despite the fact that there is ZERO EVIDENCE that the election was stolen,...
Judge Amy Coney Barrett is so “brilliant” she should run for president instead of Joe Biden, President Trump joked at a campaign rally Saturday night. A high-spirited Trump couldn’t stop singing Barrett’s praises hours after announcing he’d nominated her to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. “You know, one of her professors said she was the greatest student he ever had,” Trump told a cheering crowd in Harrisburg, Pa. “That’s pretty good,” he crowed. “That’s a little better than Biden, wouldn’t you say? “She should be running for president! It’s a little better academically, slightly better,” he added. Trump boasted of appointing three judges to the highest court, along with hundreds more federal judges to benches across the country. “Most important of all,” he said of Barrett, she will defend your God-given rights and freedoms,” he told his crowd. Senate Republicans have the votes to confirm Barrett when hearings on her nomination start during the week of Oct. 12. Democrats are expected to argue that Ginsburg’s successor is being rushed into place too soon before the...

President Donald Trump said he will 'not be pursuing' baseless claims that Sen. Kamala Harris is ineligible to run for vice president because both of her parents were not naturalized citizens at the time of her birth. Trump clarified on Saturday his presidential campaign won’t advance a new 'birtherism' theory, after he repeatedly questioned President Barack Obama's place of birth, which was Hawaii.   Harris was born in Oakland, California in 1964 to parents who emigrated from Jamaica and India.
