    HANSON (CBS) — Hanson police provided an update Saturday on a crash that left a cyclist seriously hurt Thursday. Police now believe the car initially at the center of the investigation was not involved at all. On Thursday night, police announced they were looking for a white SUV in connection with the injured cyclist. They said the car hit a mailbox and child’s playset on Route 14, then the bicyclist, and kept driving.     A man driving down Highway 99 in California last Wednesday had to make an abrupt stop when a smoking car came flying off an overpass and tumbled on the road, landing just feet in front of him. Dashcam footage from the scene in Yuba City last week shows the man's truck driving down the winding country road, as a white car could be seen flying through the air on the left, leaving behind a plume of smoke. A girl in the truck then starts screaming, at which point the driver seems to notice the scene unraveling before him and stops, before the car makes a nosedive onto the street before him, flips over several times and lands upside down in front of the truck. (WLS) -- A 55-year-old man struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday in Mount Prospect was going to visit with his 94-year-old father, but never made it, according to his family.Marc Giolli was on his way home to go for a walk with his elderly father just before 2 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit, his sister Mary Tyler said.The beloved brother and son is still fighting to survive.     MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Authorities in northern Minnesota say alcohol appears to have played a factor in a weekend ATV crash that left a passenger with serious injuries. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened Saturday evening at a home in rural Pequot Lakes. The woman driving the ATV made a sharp turn in a driveway, causing the machine to roll, ejecting its two occupants and pinning them underneath. Someone nearby heard the crash and was able to lift the ATV off the victims. Emergency crews treated the driver, a 58-year-old Pequot Lakes woman, at the scene. She was brought to a Brainerd hospital for treatment. The passenger, a 59-year-old Pequot Lakes man, was airlifted to a hospital in St. Cloud. Authorities described his injuries as serious. Investigators say that alcohol appeared to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.     TURLOCK (CBS13) — An on-duty motorcycle deputy from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a serious crash in Turlock on Thursday morning. The incident happened just before 7 a.m. at West Main Street and S Tully Road. David Buhrman (credit: CHP) According to California Highway Patrol’s Modesto division, the deputy was approaching the intersection when a pickup truck made a left turn and crashed into the motorcycle. The deputy was ejected in the crash. The deputy suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance and is current condition is not clear. Investigators later arrested the driver, who remained at the scene after the crash, on suspicion of DUI. He has been identified as 33-year-old Turlock resident David Arthur Rolland Buhrmann. The deputy has been identified as Caleb Collins, a five-year veteran of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. CHP is continuing to investigate the incident.
    An Iowa football player was seriously hurt when his jet ski hit a boat in Missouri on Friday night. Defensive back Jack Koerner and a passenger were in the Lake of the Ozarks when their jet ski crashed into the side of a boat, according to a police report. The other man, Cole Coffin, was taken to a hospital. Koerner’s injuries were not life-threatening, though there was no word on what the exact injuries were. Koerner, a 21-year-old junior, was a key to the Iowa defense last year, notching 81 tackles and an interception. The free safety earned a scholarship following the 2019 season after joining the team in 2017 as a walk-on. The Hawkeyes had just begun voluntary workouts last week as they try to ramp up for training camp in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
