CBS News is in “turmoil” after network executives decided to hire former Trump official Mick Mulvaney, to “gain ‘access’ ahead of a ‘likely’ Democratic midterm wipeout,” a network official was caught on tape admitting, according to The Washington Post. The news outlet came under fire again on Friday after its senior White House and political correspondent, Ed O’Keefe, asked Biden administration Press Secretary Jen Psaki if it is unethical for her to continue in her current role after an Axios news report revealed she has been in talks for a gig at MSNBC. "Is it ethical for you to continue conducting this job while negotiating with a media outlet?” O’Keefe asked Psaki inside the White House briefing room. "I have always gone above the stringent legal and ethical requirements of the Biden administration,: Psaki responded. “I take that very seriously. And as a standard for every federal employee.” "I have received rigorous ethics counseling as it relates to any future employment,” she added. She said she has also “taken steps to recuse myself as appropriate.” Axios earlier Friday reported Psaki...
Vice President Kamala Harris conceded in a televised interview this week that her 'biggest failure' since taking office last January has been 'not getting out of DC more,' as she continues to face criticism for making just one visit to the southern border despite the worsening migrant crisis.      Speaking to CBS News' Margaret Brennan for a weekend edition of Face the Nation set to air Sunday, Harris made the remarks after interviewer Brennan asked the former California senator an open-ended, introspective question concerning her own perceived shortcomings. 'What do you think, as you come to the end of this first year, what do you think your biggest failure has been at this point?' Brennan asks in a preview clip for the White House-set interview.  In the clip, Harris, 57, seems to laugh off the question at first, before admitting: 'To not get out of DC more.' U.S. House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, D-Calif., is under fire for paying her daughter more than $80,000 in cash from her campaign this year and more than $1 million since 2003, according to media reports . Campaign finance records show the congresswoman's campaign paid her daughter, Karen Waters, $81,650 in 12 payments over several months during fiscal 2021. The payments were associated with “slate mailer management” fees and “Get Out the Vote” services. Between March 2019 and September 2020, Karen Waters received $212,600 in 26 payments categorized as “slate mailer management” fees, “office expenses,” and “canvassing,” the New York Post reported at the time. This isn’t the first time Waters has come under scrutiny for family members being paid by campaign funds. In 2004, the Los Angeles Times reported that the Waters campaign had paid more than $1 million to her family members over an eight-year period. Since...

Joe Saunders, The Western Journal March 2, 2021 0 Comments It’s one picture Nancy Pelosi can’t be pleased with — and the timing is even worse. As New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal worsens, with a third woman coming forward to lodge a public complaint against the one-time Democratic darling of the mainstream media, a photo is making the rounds on social media of Pelosi sharing a stage with Cuomo at a 2015 event. LOS ALTOS — About 30 people criticized Los Altos Councilwoman Lynnette Lee Eng at Tuesday’s night’s meeting, saying she falsely accused a Black Lives Matter community activist of threatening her and her family. But Lee Eng didn’t retract her words from a Nov. 24 council meeting, when she made it a point to publicly announce she received threatening messages from members of Justice Vanguard, a local contingent of the Black Lives Matter movement. The  council voted at that meeting to eliminate the school resource officer program and enact new police reforms in light of the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd last May, Lee Eng abstained from voting for changes to the police complaint system and joined another council member in opposing an online complaint submission system. Complaints against the police are handled by the police and Eng said then she didn’t support using a third-party auditor to handle complaints. As the council moved on to a discussion about eliminating the resource officer program, Lee Eng said she was receiving threats from “members of Vanguard” calling her racist and wanted...
Democratic Representative Cori Bush has come under fire for her response to an ‘violent’ riot Saturday at a Missouri jail that left one officer hurt and cause 'extensive' damage. Around 117 inmates took over a section of the City Justice Center in downtown St. Louis yesterday, smashing windows, throwing chairs onto the streets below and starting fires. The chaos erupted in a fourth-floor unit just after 2:30am when a ‘defiant’ inmate attacked a corrections officer, prompting several other inmates to join in on the assault. It took officials nearly eight hours to bring an end to the pandemonium, which was described as ‘extremely violent’. The riot was reportedly held in protest over concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19, and limitations on visitors and court proceedings as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Hours after the melee subsided, Bush, of Missouri, appeared to tweet a statement of support for the rioters, saying she’d work to address their grievances. Quoting Martin Luther King Jr., Bush wrote: ‘“A riot is the language of the unheard.”’ She continued: ‘I want to talk to my...

She was first diagnosed with COVID-19 on November 29. Since then, she had been admitted to the Indiana University North Hospital. The Washington Post is taking heat on Thursday over a bizarre report about an offensive costume a woman wore at a 2018 Halloween party hosted by one of its staffers. The Post reported that its cartoonist Tom Toles received an email last week from Lexie Gruber, a guest who attended his annual Halloween celebration nearly two years ago despite never meeting the host, about an incident involving his friend Sue Schafer, who wore blackface as part of her costume. “In 2018, I attended a Halloween party at your home,” Gruber wrote to Toles. “I understand that you are not responsible for the behavior of your guests, but at the party, a woman was in Blackface. She harassed me and my friend — the only two women of color — and it was clear she made her ‘costume’ with racist intent.” As explained in the report, Schafer, who was 54 at the time, dressed up as then-recently ousted NBC host Megyn Kelly, who drew criticism for questioning if wearing blackface on Halloween was okay if the costume was meant out of respect and not out of mockery. However, Schafer put on...
Joe Biden, the Democrats’ presumptive pick for their 2020 presidential contender, is already on thin ice with anti-racism activists after resisting the push to embrace calls to “defund” and disband police departments, but now Black Lives Matter is concerned Biden may be about to select an ex-cop as his running mate. Demings rose from beat cop to chief of police in Orlando, Florida, over the course of two decades, but in the four years she was the Orlando Police Department’s top administrator she “was frequently embroiled in excessive-force controversies, and she repeatedly defended the actions of officers.” That’s a big problem for organizations like...
