    (CNN)A North Texas man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for assaulting an Asian family he blamed for the Covid-19 pandemic, federal prosecutors announced Thursday. Jose Gomez III, 21, pleaded guilty in February to three counts of committing hate crimes. CNN has reached out to his lawyer for comment.Gomez saw a Burmese family with three young children enter a Sam's Club in Midland, Texas, in March 2020, and, believing they were Chinese, followed them into the store, according to federal prosecutors. Gomez grabbed kitchen knives that were being sold at the store and attacked the family, slashing the father and a child who was then 6 years old, according to the criminal complaint. Prosecutors said Thursday the blade of the knife entered millimeters from the child's right eye, cut his ear and slashed the back of the child's head. (KABC) -- An Irvine chiropractor is facing 24 years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting several of his female patients between January and August 2021.Kimberly Edds, the public information officer for the Orange County District Attorney's Office, said 60-year-old Lincoln Carillo was arrested in Virginia last week where he was in the process of starting another chiropractic business."They trusted this person, and instead of treating them with the dignity and respect that they deserve, he used his office as a hunting ground to prey on this vulnerable women and to sexually assault them," Edds said.She said the first victim to come forward sought relief for chronic neck pain at Twins Chiropractic in Irvine when she was allegedly assaulted by Carillo."[She] saw him several times and then just realized that the treatment that she was receiving wasn't exactly what she felt was appropriate and she contacted the Irvine Police Department," Edds said.Since then authorities have been able to identify six more victims.Carillo is facing seven felony counts of sexual penetration by means of fraudulent representation for a professional...

"She sent the child flirtatious messages and arranged to meet him in a church parking lot for sex in her car on at least three occasions," according to a press release from U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. (CBS4) — A Weld County jury convicted a Dacono man on six counts of child abuse and sexual assault on a child in what prosecutors are calling one of the most traumatic cases they’ve ever handled. The jury returned its verdict against Dante Larks, 43, on Monday. “This case, is by far, one of the most horrific and egregious cases that our office has ever seen,” Weld District Attorney Michael Rourke stated in a press release. In that press release, the District Attorney’s Office explained how it developed the case against Larks following a domestic violence investigation that was initiated by the Dacono Police Department in December 2018. The DA’s Office opened the child abuse case early in 2019. The child victim told Weld investigators that Larks locked the child in a home’s unfinished basement many nights over a period of several months.     NAPA (CBS SF) — A Napa man was convicted of raping and sexually abusing two young family members over the course of several years and is facing life in prison, authorities said Wednesday. Samuel Cereda, 39, was convicted on Friday of 50 charges including child rape, oral copulation, sexual penetration and forcible lewd acts. The Napa County District Attorney’s Office said Cereda committed the acts against one family member between 2017 and 2019 in Napa County, and another between 2009 and 2011 in San Bernardino County. His victims were between 8 and 13 years old at the time of the sexual abuse.     A former Church Farm School teacher is facing up to 30 years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a student between 2008 and 2010, authorities announced. The former student contacted West Whiteland law enforcement in December 2018 to report that he had been sexually abused by Marc Spera, 58, of St. Petersburg, Florida when he was in 7th and 8th grade, according to the Chester County District Attorney's Office. Spera reportedly gave back and body rubs to the student in Spera's on-campus apartment when the victim was in 7th grade, the DA's office said. Spera, who worked at CFS from 1995-2010, gifted the student with a video game and equipment to communicate with him during the summer break, authorities said.     A 58-year-old Chester County man is facing up to 74 years in prison for sexually assaulting three boys between the ages of 11 and 14, authorities said. The boys worked on Robert Caesar's Oxford property from 2016 to 2017, District Attorney Deb Ryan said. Caesar apparently befriended them and, in separate instances, offered to wash their clothes, supplied them with alcohol, and sexually assaulted them, Ryan said. “Were it not for the courage of these three boys, this defendant might not have been brought to justice," Ryan said.     A man known as the NorCal Rapist will now die behind bars after he was sentenced to 897 years in prison for attacking nine women during a 15-year reign of terror in Northern California. Roy Charles Waller, 60, was slapped with two life sentences to be served consecutively - 459 years followed by 438 years to life - in Sacramento Superior Court Friday as the judge branded him 'a serious danger to society'.    Waller was found guilty of 46 counts back in November after DNA and genealogy websites were used to solve the cold cases and arrest him in 2018.  Waller raped nine women across six Northern California counties between 1991 and 2006.  He broke into his victims' homes late at night and bound them before raping them repeatedly.     WOODLAND (CBS13) – A softball coach who was convicted of sexually assaulting several girls was sentenced Wednesday to 37 years and 4 months-to-life in prison. On October 1, 43-year-old Buck Maldonado Thomas of Arizona was convicted by a jury in the Yolo County Superior Court of multiple crimes, including forcible sexual assault of a minor, first-degree burglary, and sexual battery on a minor, according to a statement from the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office. Thomas will be required to register as a sex offender for life. Thomas’ charges stem from several incidents that happened in 2018. The first victim came forward in November 2018 and claimed that Thomas, whom her family had hired as a private hitting coach, sexually assaulted her at her home in Yolo County in July 2018. West Sacramento Police Department opened an investigation and learned of a second minor victim who also trained with Thomas in August 2018.     A 24-year-old man from Lakewood has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison for abducting and assaulting his ex-girlfriend before crashing her car while drunk, authorities said. Jorge Juarez Mendoza pleaded guilty in September to multiple charges in connection to the assault last fall and an earlier incident in which he reportedly vandalized the former girlfriend's car, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D.     HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — A Twin Cities psychiatrist has been sentenced to spend five years behind bars for repeatedly sexually assaulting a patient he was treating. Gavin Meany, 39, was sentenced Wednesday in Dakota County District Court where he had earlier pleaded guilty to four counts of third-degree criminal sexual contact. Meany will be under court supervision for life. The female victim told investigators last year that she had been abused for five years by Meany who she was seeing for past sexual trauma and an eating disorder. She said the sexual contact first occurred in Meany’s office in St. Louis Park and later in his Burnsville office and at his Apple Valley home, the Star Tribune reported. Meany also faces charges in Hennepin County in a separate case.     A former Warren County man was sentenced to eight years in state prison for sexually assaulting two children, authorities said Tuesday. Herman Quintana was found guilty of sexually assaulting the kids between March 2015 and September 2016 in Phillipsburg, Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer said. It is not clear how he knew them. Quintana, of Easton, PA, was later convicted of three counts each of sexual assault on a victim under the age of 13 and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. Superior Court Judge H. Matthew Curry sentenced Quintana to eight years in prison for each count of sexual assault. The judge also sentenced him to five years in prison for each count of endangering the welfare of a child, to run concurrently with the first sentence.
    RENO, Nev. (AP) — A man was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer in Owyhee with a screwdriver. Richard Frank Roa Jr., 36, previously pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer in the November 2017 attack. Authorities say the assault occurred after Roa’s father told police his son was causing a disturbance and damaging a vehicle at his home.     SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A judge sentenced a man from Frisco for assaulting two police officers in November of 2019. Police were originally called to Robert Patton’s home because he had assaulted his roommate. Robert Patton (credit: Summit County) When police arrived, they asked Patton to sit down and talk to them. After refusing, Patton hit one officer in the head. He also punched another officer in the nose. Officers arrested Patton. Patton has a history of assaulting peace officers. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison for an assault in 2018. In May, he pleaded guilty to the November case. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
